The people are really friendly, and all of the teaching staff seem really enthusiastic about the course(s) they teach. The student accommodation is really good here as well, as all of it is really close to the Uni itself (I think the furthest is about a 5 minute walk)! It's definitely worth a look as in my opinion I think it's a top Uni. Even if you are going to Uni here, it's worth a look just to see the buildings!

The fellow students comes from different backgrounds, which are great. The class rooms are modern and well equipped. This university expands so fast in the last 10 years. It has just built a new campus in new bridge street (central newcastle), which is absolutely state of the art building. The new building in new bridge street is well architectured and modern. The student union is fun as well. The problem is just the exams and the assignments are not easy, which is good as it shows the quality.

The library and computing facilities were second to none. The university is nicely situated in the heart of Newcastle, with Haymarket metro station and numerous bus services closeby. There are plenty of facilites on campus, as well as the whole of Northumberland street just across the road! As for the general atmosphere of the place - I was not keen. I'm unsure whether I was just unlucky in that the people on my course were not particularly friendly, or whether the university as a whole is like this I was told before going to this university that a lot of the students were so-called 'Durham rejects'. I found this to be quite true although I'm sure those students would not admit it, it was made to be very difficult for the local students to mingle with those student from other areas of the UK. I have no qualms about the level of teaching - the lecturers were very friendly and clearly 'knew their stuff' and the course I did was challenging. If I had to choose again, I would rather have gone to Northumbria University. Although the standard of the course and the entry requirements are generally lower at Northumbria and the campus is less aesthetically pleasing, I imagine that the 'university experience' (which is what most students go for!!!) would have been a whole lot more enjoyable.

There is a huge range of courses, both undergraduate and postgraduate and the range of extra curricula activities is awe inspiring. More than 18,000 students from over 100 different countries choose to study at Newcastle so there is a diverse range of cultures represented in every faculty. There are over 200 full time undergraduate degree programmes to choose from in the following subject areas: Arts Business and Law Combined Studies Engineering Foundation Year Life Sciences Medical Sciences Physical Sciences Social Sciences Newcastle University enjoys strong international collaboration so opportunities are often available for overseas study (dependent upon the degree studied). There are mentoring programmes available for those returning to study, and during your first year of study you are guaranteed a place in University accommodation (certain criteria apply). There are some wonderfully inspirational lecturers there who I would now call firm friends. The architecture in the original parts of the university is superb. There is a great social mix with any number of things to do outside of study - from jazz appreciation to fencing, yoga to wine tasting, scuba diving to martial arts. There is a well maintained gym, a number of places on campus to enjoy bad food, a great student union bar hosting numerous social events and live acts, and it's all in a great city. I'd recommend this university to anyone.

Newcatle college is what I can only describe as the worst educational institution in the United…read moreKingdom. The staff are only motivated about enrolling students for the funding. Once enrolled they could not care less. This is my third year at Newcastle College and although all of it is terrible, the school of health & enterprise is by far the worst. The staff have no relevance to the subject they teach you from a paper booklet and know nothing but that. The power points are outdated and the staff are even more outdated. They can't even get the NCMA payments right with endless delays per term. If you care about your education go elsewhere.

One of the best schools in Britain until recently the QE6 was led by a man who cared very much for…read morehis charges and who has now been given a job advising on a national basis. A great computer room with ideal air conditioning making the room feel cool to work up sets the standered for the rest of the college. A wonderful old building with lots of history, it sits next to the Art Centre in one of the oldest parts of Darlington where in the time of King James an army of 10,000 camped on their way to fight the Scots.

The Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College is a very striking building and has a great reputation as a…read morecollege with its results from students. I attended this Sixth Form College for two years and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was probably some of my best years in education so far. The teachers are very warm and welcoming and always have time for you. The atmosphere is slightly more laid back than secondary school and they give your more responsibility and begin to treat like adults. There is a wide range of courses available from business studies to Film studies to biology and fashion! I would recommend this establishment ten times over.

A few years I embarked on a 2 year National Diploma course at New College Durham, studying a couple…read moreof A levels alongside. I was a terrible student and played truant constantly - but even so, I received a lot of support from the lecturers on my courses, and eventually passed everything. The courses were all expertly laid out, something that I've since found doesn't apply to all learning institutions, and even now, I remember the gist of my modules studied, and just how much the lecturers put up with. In one of my modules, the lecturer would drone on and on whilst the entire class surfed the internet and talked amonst themselves. I wonder if he cared - he must have known. He was obviously knowledgable about his subject, so I don't quite understand why he even bothered with a class that wasn't paying attention. Many of my lecturers had a lot of qualifications - PhDs and Doctorates and the likes. The college offers many courses of further education, from GCSEs and A levels to vocational courses in Computing, Beauty Therapy, Health and Social Care to day release NVQ schemes and has dedicated areas for most of them. The facilities are excellent - there is a library the size of a university's, a large refrectory canteen as well as a few coffee kiosks and a shop for purchasing stationary. The college also offers part time courses and now, higher education as well. The college is set among some large playing fields and has many sporting societies. There are a few pubs, cafes and supermarkets in the street immediately to the outside of the college, and Durham city and the Arnison Centre are about a mile either side of it.

Built only last year to replace the original building in Cleveland Terrace the new College provides…read morean exciting future for Darlington's young people. Soon to link up with Teesside University the college is expanding it's range of studies in it's first class facilities. A marvelous nursery is on site for parents who are coming back to education and a former professional footballer runs their coaching courses. With plenty of room for expansion the future of adult education looks bright.

I went here last year to do a foundation degree to help me get into uni and I love every minute…read more Foundation degrees are at Burlam Road, an old but quirky building in between Acklam and Linthorpe. After having a taste of all the courses avail bible you chose an area to specialise in, I chose textiles and loved it. The staff are all brilliant and very helpful. They are also very understanding of any problems you may have. There are loads of facilities avail be to students and the fact everyone at the building makes it a very close large group. I think everyone who went last year would agree with me that we were sorry to leave. There's a near by Tesco express and Gregs the other way for lunch and hut to eat it in. Overall I really miss going here! If you need to do a founation degree I highly reccomend you do it here.
