Went to Newmarket Racecourse yesterday. The property was very well looked after and they had lots of places to get food and drink. The only issue I have was when you're trying to leave you have to wait in a massive traffic jam, we waited 2 hours until we could get off the property onto a road which is insane. read more

An absolutly ideal place. Horses in paddock can be viewed without any difficulty from a raised slope surrounded by concrete steps. During races you can watch large screens with bottom bars continuously showing the changing placings. There are televisions everywhere, countless refreshment stalls with no queues, a huge beer tent with reasonable prices and clean toilets. I don´t know, all seems to be done for people, unlike the Czech Republic, where visitors are regarded as verminous insects that should be forbidden entering courses :( Naprosto dokonalé místo!

Ive been to many racecourses all over the country and newmarket is definetely my favorite,it has a lovely atmosphere, there is a childrens playground which I loved as a kid and now my own children enjoy going there, This racecourse is one of the best to visit as a family, they have grass to sit on at the side of the track,we always lay a blanket down here and have a family picnic, which is really nice and keeps the cost of the day down, There are five generations in my family party that comes here, and everybody enjoys the day from the babies,to the grandparents read more

I was treated to a day at the races for my birthday a couple of years ago by my brother and whilst the day was lovely, the atmosphere really vibrant and fun, and the amenities clean and everything, plus I won a whole £4, I will always blame my ridiculous drunkenness on the fact that the queues to the bars were so big that we had to get two drinks each. And while I thought I was drinking coke, I was actually drinking double vodka with it. Cheers big bro. Knocking a star off though. Not for the stupendous hangover I had the next day but for the exit that everyone's already commented on - stupid stupid stupid. Getting out of the racecourse took up valuable drinking-in-Cambridge time, dammit. read more

They hold fantastic events here. During the summer they hold their summer nights events on the 'July Course', which consist of evening horse racing followed by a concert which are always hugely popular, and can include packages with meals, or you can enjoy a picnic whilst watching the races. I wouldn't recommend buying food/drink inside as the prices are astronomic. The only other downside is that afterwards the car park can and does get very chaotic and very often gridlocked meaning it can take you a good hour to leave the racecourse after an event. read more

Newmarkets July Racecourse is an awesome night out in the summer that I would definately recommend. Over the years the 'Newmarket Nights' have got better and better with some big name artists and acts coming. Its far cheaper to see them here with racing included than go to a stadium. If you want to take children I would strongly advise buying your tickets early as they only have a set amount of childrens tickets and once they are gone you are paying adult prices. You have the choice of taking a picnic or they have a huge amount of stalls to choose from to eat and drink. The toilet queues for the ladies can be extremely long on these busy evenings! read more

I must admit I havent really been to the July racecourse to experiance the horse racing, Im not a huge fan and the only reasons I have been is to go to the Summer Nights concerts that are held weekly throughout the summer on Friday evenings. The racecourse manage to pull in some big names for the Summer Nights events, this year I have been to see Bryan Adams, and Boyzone, and last year I saw Westlife, but there are other big names that perform such as Girls Aloud, The Sugababes and Jules Holland. It gets extremely busy up there at these times, you can be queuing a while for drinks, but there are a few bars spread around - prepare to spend slightly more on your drinks than at a normal bar. There are many different food stands around, from burgers, hotdogs to nachos and fish and chips. Car parking is manic so its probably a better idea to get taxis, but be ready to queue for a long time on the way out, or even arrange for someone to pick you up from outside by the Cambridge roundabout. read more

July Racecourse - If you get a chance to go to one of the summer nights at the racecourse, you really should grab a few friends and go! The idea is to go to the evening meeting to get the racing experience followed by a concert. This year my husband and I saw Bryan Adams at one of the meetings. We paid around £100 for a Premier package which included dinner at Stavinskys restaurant at the course and entrance to the premier enclosure. Although the food was excellent, we had to queue for a long time for the restaurant so I can't recommend this. Probably best to resort to fast food or eat before you go. I thought it was well worth having entrance to the Premier enclosure and would pay extra for this again. There are lots of nice bars and eating areas here, also you can get close to the stage before everyone else for the concert if you so wish. One final tip, best to get a taxi there and back, it's car park gridlock afterwards! read more

Went to Simply Red concert July 16th 2010. Racing was good fun, but highlight was the post racing cocert. Mick Hucknall's voice is still superb after all these years and he really got the big crowd going. The racecourse was very packed and there was a lot of queuing for the bars and the loos. The awful problems began after the concert ended. The car park was a nightmare! The only exit is one small gate through which all the hundreds of cars, coaches and mini-buses have to exit. To make this worse, priority is given to vehicles from the corporate and premier areas. We queued for ONE and THREE QUARTER hours in our little mini-bus, often not even moving for twenty minutes at a time. Finally leaving the racecourse at 1 a.m. ! This is unbelievable at a venue that is otherwise well geared for events like this. There is ample space for another exit track to the lane outside. This spoilt our evening as everyone wanted to find a toilet (There are none !) Come on Newmarket...sort out the car park and you will have a first class venue instead of a joke read more

I went to newmarket nights last night and saw westlife and they were very good, but it rained all day and the whole place turned into a mudbath, you just could not get anywhere without walking in the stuff,if you do decide to go and its been raining then def take your wellies. But the real nightmare was to come after the show and trying to get out of the car park, all the cars are trying to get through one gate and it was hell,it took 2 hours to get off and out on the road, something must be done about this as i think it will put people off going back as it has me,in fact if i had known this before i went i wouldnt have gone in the first place. I agree with previous post about a taxi picking you up on main road and taking you to your car parked somewhere away from racetrack. It is a bit of a pain but it saves hours of being stuck with nowhere to go! read more
