But, thankfully, Crisp Pizza in Flemington isn't simply a poor rip-off of the better known Crust. Crisp do a really high quality pizza - they slow-roast their meat and vegetables in house daily, and the flour in the base is organic. This makes for a whole lot of taste. There are a few truly unique pizzas at Crisp that I've not seen anywhere else, like Spicy Baked Feta, Spinach and Haloumi, Peking Duck and Korma Chicken. I haven't tried all these flavours, because I love the La Paella so much I keep ordering it - it's like a Spanish paella whacked on a pizza, with prawns, paprika, chorizo, red onion, peas, capsicum and mozzarella. Bizzare but so good! Delivery time is reasonable (usually about 45 minutes) and they've also got a range of pastas, salads and desserts for those freaks who don't like pizza.

If you're dining in, bring a bottle of vino because they welcome BYO. The pizzas themselves are good, but certainly not the best I've ever had. The base is a little on the thicker side, which means you probably can't eat as many slices as you'd like. Let's face it, I'm a guts and I love eating an entire thin-based pizza myself. With the pizzas from I Carusi, I needed to tap our after a few slices which was a shame because the toppings were tasty and I loved the overall flavour. It's all about who and what's behind the kitchen that is the real deal! Their second store appropriately named I Carusi II offers a similar lay out, same menu and similar atmosphere. Both the St Kilda Store and the Brunswick store work off a cash only basis and they prefer that you book in advance to avoid disappointment. If you get a chance to look at the menu online I recommend it as there is so much to choose from you will feel you have to give credit to everything! This is why dining in a larger group heightens the I I Carusi experience as share plates are a great way to get started followed by a mix-match array of many pizza choices. I would highly recommend the Salmone - Tomato Base, Marscapone, Smoked Salmone and Fish Roe with Dill. The Americano, Quattro Formaggi and the Speciale -Tomato, mozzarella, soppressa, roasted peppers, artichokes & olives. Who am I kidding I've tried them all... even the Margherita is amazing. The thing I love most about this place are the prices. Everything is ridiculously cheap and awesomely good - it makes having a students budget bearable. Entrees start at just $6.90 - cheaper than a drink in some places. Mains sit at around $17 but I generally get a pasta dish for around $9. The Pizzas are also really cheap: Small= $6.80 Medium=$10.80 Large=$13.90 They also do delivery, which costs an extra $6 but I always go to eat there or pick it up.
