GOOD- full kitchen for staying in and relaxing. separate heat and tv in each room to appease everyone. space. fireplace. jet tub. young man Friday afternoon at counter and nice lady that checked us out today. BAD - rest of the staff. horrible beds I'm in so much pain I never hardly slept. dirty walls and top of fridge. jets in tub need serious cleaning. dark black spots in grout. but worst handicapped parking. nothing is clearly marked and on ground it's half covered in snow and ice. people constantly illegally parked and staff really don't care. at the very end of your parking lot u have one spot with an actual upright sign. in winter especially not being accessible and clearly marked and cleaned and enforced by police is not ok with a child in a wheelchair in dead of winter. for what you charge, and up charge for Saturday night versus Thursday and Friday night it's definitely not worth it. will look somewhere else for next visit. read more

My friend and I recently scheduled a personal development retreat at the Newport Resort in Door County March 16-21st. We were looking for a quiet place with a suite where we could cook our own meals, each have a bathroom and private bedroom, enjoy a sauna, whirlpool, and be out of the way while we participated in a Tony Robbins virtual event for 4 days. We wanted to get away from home and be able to focus on the content of the event in a place that would allow us to relax and take care of ourselves at while simultaneously learning some very intense personal content. We found this wonderful spa environment practically in our own back yard and we were elated! We got a good price and a fabulous stay at magnificent prices! That staff was absolutely amazing and our space was gorgeous and relaxing. We hated to leave! This spa resort is amazing even in the winter when most of the shops nearby were closed for the season. We managed to get around Egg Harbour and Sturgeon Bay to do just enough shopping to satisfy our curiosities. We got to visit the the Plum Bottom Gallery and Maxwell's House -- 2 FABULOUS local galleries. We chatted up both owners and promised to come back during the season. Their functional art was so gorgeous that we have to come back with money and purchase some things. We also visited the local health food store, Greens & Things, and a restaurant, Shipwrecked Brew Pub for dinner. We enjoyed daily walks with my Service dog, Sir Buddy in the crisp winter air. We swam in the pool. We sat in the whirlpool. We even enjoyed chatting with the staff over our free morning coffee (which neither of us was drinking before this lovely venture)! LOL They have the best coffee!!! If you're on your way to Door County, WI. Choose this out-of-the-way, Spa Resort. You won't regret it. The staff works hard to make you feel comfortable. It's a quiet little place that's worth the money. There's a great family vibe and kids will have a ball in the play areas. I can only imagine that in the summer, this place is hard to book because it's such a great deal. You can, literally, prepare your own meals in the full-sized kitchens. Walmart is just a few miles away in Sturgeon Bay but there's a local grocery store within walking distance and the health food store has all kinds of options for the allergy-prone or pickier eaters. If you don't like cooking, there are lots of restaurants, coffee shops, and eateries all over the place during tourist season, During Tourist Season, there's an entire artist community to visit in this area. Almost every shop is a place of creativity and beauty. Almost every shop was closed when we were there but you could see the possibilities. Even many of the gift shops were closed for the season but our whistles were definitely whet. We are both artistic types (i am a musician; My friend is a potter). We can't wait to come back and indulge in the art scene! The best part of all of this is whether you chose Tourist season or off-season, like we did, the staff will treat you like they are happy to have your business. Be kind to them and treat them with respect. They are working hard to make your stay comfortable in a hands-free manner. We never heard any complaining or grumbling and they were always pleased to talk with us or share their wisdom about the community. We appreciated their time and efforts. We can't wait to plan something else and this little nook has become "our retreat". Thank you all for making our stay an extremely memorable one! read more

Beware - Liars!!! Do not recommend staying here. Booked for a weekend in March. The Friday of our reservation Door County was put under a blizzard warning with expected snowfall of over 2ft. Called hours before the reservation to ask for a reschedule of refund. Was told over the phone that they would reschedule and waive all fees associated. When we called Chase Travel to get this rescheduled, the hotel manager that Chase spoke to denied to reschedule and denied to refund the stay. Called again and was told the employee I spoke to about waiving the fees does not exist. Was then ghosted by the hotel for two weeks trying to figure out what was going on. We were not going to risk our lives to travel to Door County in a blizzard. Terrible management and communication between the staff and management. Was really looking forward to staying here but will no longer recommend this place to friends and family. read more

I'll start with the good/great. First off they're in a great location; just a short walk to many shops, restaurants, and the harbor. The pools and hot tub are saltwater; yes I said pools plural. There are 2, one inside and one outside. There is a small outdoor play area and an indoor ball pit for the kiddos. The rooms are adequately equipped, but that's about the end of the pros. The beds/pillows are awful, the rooms and rest of the resort are so dated, smelly, and dirty. There were holes in doors, and walls(some had been awkwardly patched. Towel racks that were bent/broken. Back to the dirty rooms; the AC units had filters that were filthy with the clean lights on. Light bulbs that were mismatched with others in color tone. Hallways and rooms smelled of damp/moldy old cigarette smoked in Super8 motels from back in the day. Dirty windows throughout, and again lights in the hallways that had burned out bulbs. On to those nice saltwater pools. They were adequate, but not cleaned regularly and the indoor pool was cold. The hot tub was extremely hot, so hot we never used it after dipping our toes in. It's up there in temp; pretty sure if you sat in there you'd turn into a stew. There is a sauna, but we never used that. The room we stayed in had a full kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher and a full-size refrigerator w/ice maker. The ice maker didn't really work that well. It would make ice that melted into a block, I turned the freezer temp up which seemed to help, but wasn't perfect. For the price it's ok, not great as one would think when they see resort in the title. Maybe we had too high of standards. We never had any problems with staff, and the ones we interacted with were pleasant. I hope this is just some cosmetic issues and they get it updated and turned around. read more

This was my 2nd visit to the Newport, the first being in March 2023. I was excited to show my family members a nice stay, but definitely ran into some unfortunate road bumps along the way. It seems a few of my complaints are consistent with various other reviews over the course of the last decade, like that of the wifi's inadequacy and the overall outdated look of the suites. But we also endured the rude attitude of a woman working the front desk. We left 5 used towels out, as instructed, and only received 1 clean one in return. When we asked for a few more (we had multiple people in our party) the receptionist was especially unaccommodating. Trash and sheets were never changed after several days as housekeeping placards indicated they would be, air conditioning units all had check filter lights on, and the small shower was riddled with mold. This is definitely not the kind of hotel you could feel comfortable walking around in without shoes/socks/slippers, it was largely unclean. Our microwave also died after just 1 day. We found the free coffee and pools to be nice amenities, but the good outweighed the bad this time, unlike our stay 2 years ago which was nice. I'm not sure we'll be back due to the price vs experience ratio. read more

Personally, overpriced for what it is. We requested a two bedroom room but got a one bedroom with a pullout couch which is fine but a little annoying. The balcony was great and I loved reading out on it at night. The layout is also quite confusing and hard to navigate. It was nice looking from the outside but stuff inside seemed a little dated (like most hotels to be honest). Nice spot relatively close to the harbor. read more

Our family has been coming here yearly since they opened. This is the last year I will likely come as I'm really disappointed in what has happened and don't feel it's being managed very well. This is late winter coming off of the year of Covid, so I do take that into account. One wing is closed due to remodeling. While that does sound promising, I hope that the owners and management do understand that remodeling doesn't mean much if you don't hire the right people to clean and keep the units in good condition. While remodeling may help the jet engine sound behind the walls every time the toilet is flushed, it doesn't help the stained bedding. It might help the carpet that is in rough shape, but not the filthy dishes that have been put away. Or the stained furniture. I've attached pictures. To be fair, I'm sure the bedding has been cleaned and it's just stains and I'm sure the dishes went through the dishwasher. It's just clear that whoever cleans up the rooms doesn't do it well and aren't held to any job standards. The pool is a bright spot. We always come in the winter and the pool and hot tub are typically always clean and spacious. This time the water is excessively chlorinated but that could be their way of dealing with Covid. Other resort- implemented Covid policies and signs like capacity limits in the pool and masks are not at all enforced by the people behind the front desk. This is a great location and historically has been a great spot for us to enjoy time with family. It's close to shops and has a few great restaurant options nearby. The recent addition of One Barrel is awesome. If you plan to cook, be sure to bring anything outside of basic kitchen gear. I would be sure to ask for a remodeled suite if you choose to book here. read more

I'd recommend this place for families. We got a 2 room 2 bathroom stat and it worked great for my husband, 1.5 year old, and the grandparents. It was close to shops and dining in Egg Harbor. 10 min from Fish Creek, 20 from Ephraim, 30 from Sister bay, etc. we enjoyed our stay here. read more

Perfect place to stay with our 8 and 2-year-old. Indoor pool, outdoor pool, indoor playground, outdoor playground--so that takes care of the kids! (All of these were clutch on the rainy days.) We splurged on a suite so we could eat most meals at the hotel cheaply, which probably saved us money in the long run (and definitely saved us frustration). The staff were helpful and friendly. They have a coin-op laundry on second floor ($3 per load to wash and dry, quarters from the front desk). It's not highbrow or fancy, but we've learned that POOL is the magic word when we're traveling with kids! read more

Newport Resort is a solid accommodation. It's not an overly fancy place, probably won't be known for bend-over-backward service, and the interior has a very neat, if blasé feel. The suites probably won't feel as pleasant as an AirBnB. That said, there are lots of amenities both inside and outside your suites, you do get an excellent value, and the location from everything is fantastic. First, let's start off with what this place is not. It is not over-the-top luxury like the Four Seasons. It won't win the interior decoration championship, and it won't even compete with the feel of some of the more reputable chains like Westin, Hilton or Marriott. In fact, the word "Resort" feels like some manipulative marketing ploy; a more accurate name would be "Newport Suites." The building facade looks amazing just like the word "Resort" looks amazing, but the interior is fairly basic and a notch above acceptable. In other words, its not magical but its way, way, way better than some hotel reviews I've read involving blood stains and cockroaches. Newport felt clean, the bathrooms felt clean, and the beds were not too plush and not too firm. (I slept like a baby, in fact.) The suites don't have central air, but I suppose that would be asking way too much for its price point. I mean, who has central air? Oh, AirBnBs. Right. Anyway, some reviews I read mentioned mold and unclean filters. But who cares about them - my air conditioner was fine, I didn't have a problem, and this is my review, dammit. "Well, that seems kind of lame," you might say. No, actually it was pretty good. What makes it pretty good is the value for your money. For not a whole lot, you could shell out $250 a night and get a two bedroom suite, two full baths, an oven, microwave, dishwasher, a full refrigerator and freezer, a little fireplace, a huge LG TV, comfy ceiling fans. You even get to rent bikes, if that's your thing. Then there are these ginormous balconies which are a real pleasure to use, and a communal grilling area. If you are willing to shell out a little more cash, they will give you bath robes and a jacuzzi. What other hotel gives you all that stuff? Not even the nicer ones do. Plus, you're within walking distance of what Egg Harbor has to offer. So while the interior decorator got a B- in interior decoration school, just about everything else is an awesome value. But wait, there's more! Outside of your suites, you've got more stuff. The two pools on the property are nice because if one pool has too many people or if someone has a little accident in the pool (note: this never happened while I was there - I just have a vivid imagination, which happens when you have pets and toddlers), then you can switch pools. Unfortunately, the game room is not going to appeal to the modern fourth grader, as the game cabinets feel like they haven't been updated since circa 1860, around the time of the Civil War. On the other hand, my toddler loves the indoor play area, and there is an outdoor playground for a kid who needs to get the zoomies out of their system. So there you have it. Not magical, but a very effective, functional, and clean property. If you're the average family, or have a large group, you won't go wrong here. read more

We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2 bathroom suite here and it was clean, comfortable and quiet. The kitchen appliances were in good shape, as were the dishes and cookware. The balcony was nice; view was of the parking lot, but it was still nice to be able to sit outside. The living room and dining areas were nice as well. Before peak season, the rates were extremely reasonable. There is an elevator to get to the 2nd floor. Key cards are still the older magnetic type and so have the warning that they have to be kept away from magnets on purses and from phones. Sigh...I make a career out of scrambling those. We did have a communication glitch. When we made the reservation in January, breakfast was advertised as being included. No mention of a change was made in subsequent emails we received reminding us of our reservation, or at check in. When we found no breakfast the next morning we were informed it was discontinued in February and that they "tried" to notify people who had made reservations before February, and weren't sure why we weren't notified since we had booked directly with the hotel and not a travel site. No offer of a partial refund, snacks from the shop, etc was made. We were at the grocery store the evening before and could have easily picked up breakfast items if we had been notified rather than needing to make a second trip. Despite that, we did enjoy our stay. I'd just recommend calling maybe a week or so ahead of your arrival to confirm any amenities you're expecting. Other things to be aware of; as with many hotels, the wifi was very weak and slow. We had 1 bar in our suite and struggled just to read email; streaming video would definitely not be possible. Bath products are very basic - facial soap and shampoo only so bring anything else you need including conditioner. read more

I've read the reviews and just don't get some of the complaints. Upon arriving check-in was a breeze. Walking into the room, you could smell the "clean" smell. Inspected all bedding, linens, restrooms, floors and etc. and everything was in clean and in proper shape. Everything we needed was in the kitchen. We had purchased some small breakfast items and quick foods to make as snacks. Was very helpful to have the kitchen. I do suggest they get a Keurig instead of a large coffee pot. I will say the loud jet sound when the toilet flush does exist, as does the loud bathroom exhaust fan. These are minor things that would not affect a score to me. Noise. Kids running through the hallways sounds like a herd of elephants when sitting in the main area. However when in the bedroom I didn't hear any of that. I could hear someone slamming a door here and there, I think the patio door. I would not blame the resort for that, that's just rude behavior of the guests below us. We had such a great time while there that we attempted to stay another night but we're informed our room was not available. I look forward to returning to Newport Resort! We checked in to a premium room and got a free upgrade due to off season in January. Room was spacious and clean with a fireplace and in room whirlpool oversized tub. The room was well maintained and everything worked well. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. We did use the exercise room which was fine. It had a treadmill, bike, elliptical, dumbbells, and a multi-station weight machine. My only issue was the breakfast that is included. Not too bad but no fruit and some food was not the freshest. I tossed bread with green mold on it. Egg Harbor isn't my favorite location on the peninsula but I would definitely return to the Newport. read more

Just returned from a two night stay at the Newport resort. Some friends and I rented a two bedroom condo. The place was clean and it had a nice patio equipped with a table and four chairs. It was within walking distance to shops and restaurants and there was plenty of parking. They had a breakfast and it was clean and kept stocked. Stayed during the offseason and was welcomed with a room upgrade! While there was only two of us, it is always pleasant to have an extra bathroom for getting ready. We loved the sauna and hot tub! We also took a tour with Door County Trolley and it was incredibly convenient to be able to be picked up right from the hotel. The couch was the only complaint with not being very comfortable and being shallow, but if you're in Door County, you shouldn't be spending much time on your couch! read more

We stayed in a 2-bedroom, 2 bath suite on the main level. The guests above were extremely noisy - I could hear crying, we heard jumping - it was extremely disturbing. The bathrooms are run down - the toilets in our suite did not flush completely unless you held the handle down until the water completely flushed. The carpeting in our suite was run down- tears and stains. For the price we paid, the hotel by now should start to make some renovations. The patio was nice to sit at. The kitchen appliances were in good shape as were the dishes etc. The hotel front staff were pleasant. I have stayed at Newport Resort several times in the past and had a wonderful experience however after this past weekend I do not plan on returning. In the bathroom I found a headband with hair on it of that housekeeping missed. I picked it up with a paper towel and brought it to the desk. Angela (one of the managers) apologized and asked if I wanted housekeeping to come in and wipe the bathroom floors down. I said yes and also requested the surfaces be wiped since my daughters noticed handprints on the table. Soon after two young men came with cloths and spray bottles. We left while they cleaned so don't know if bathroom floor was cleaned. Later I moved the shower curtain over only to find an area in the tub dirty and not clean. Later that evening we found spiders and centipedes in one of the bedrooms. The lamp shade in one room had small holes in it. My daughters were also disappointed no hair conditioner in shower. I called today -Monday to speak to manager. Angela answered and in my opinion was defensive from the beginning. In fact after talking to her I was even more upset. I paid a lot to stay at this resort and I was very disappointed! It's not worth the money! We picked Newport Resort based on the few review from hotels.com. But to our surprise it was the complete opposite and found this to be nice on the outside and terrible on the inside. We had the one bedroom suite that looked like it was the worse for wear. The furniture was worn and looked tired. The big issues we had is that the kitchen wall had water damage on closer examination we found it to be also mold. The other bigger problem was that the wall air conditioner was old, filthy and didn't cool. The bedroom had no air conditioner and it being in the mid eighties the whole hotel room was not warm but hot. After keeping the air on for 2 hours our room stayed in the mid-eighties. We went to the front desk and their idea was to give us a fan. We were told that the one bedroom suites do not have air conditioning in any of the bedrooms. The only air conditioner was a old unit that didn't work properly in the living room area far from the bedroom. We ended up taking the front grill off to see if there was something that we could see wrong we saw once again mold and debris. By this time it was 8:30 at night and ruined our evening plans. Back down to the front desk to complain again. This time they gave us a two room suite that had air in one of the bedrooms. To make things worse is that we would only have this room for a couple of days and then have to move once again for the remainder of our stay. This room had air conditioner in the living room and one bedroom. We weren't happy that we would have to move once again to another room making us having to change our plans once again. Even though we had air in this room it to looked run down and worn out. The carpet was coming up in several main areas and that also looked very worn with the carpet coming up in several areas. I am including pictures so people can see for themselves that this is at best a no star or even minus one star. The standards of the Newport Resort was worse then a motel six. Maybe there Slogan should be wikeep the lights off for you!" Update: the manager wrote back on my post here acting all surprised about my review. Where she stated that we were happy! No, we weren't happy! Because we would have to be moved a third time since you had the unit reserved as well. The big issue is that you gave us excuses that the owners are cheap and do not want to put money into fixing the units and by your accounts its not the management's fault. Those were the exact words from the management not ours. Then when you saw me after our second move you said your maintenance man "didn't find anything wrong with the rooms" and then you should us photos that your people took with you saying there was nothing wrong with the units! Really? If that was the case, why did my photos show a completely different pictures showing all the issues? You then acted all Embarrassed and if I could text my photos so you can take it up later in your board meetings. I texted those pictures to your phone in front of me to make sure you got them. All this boils down to big fact that Newport Resort has many complaints on social media stating the exact same complaints we have listed here going back several months. Here is the bottom line. Warning to all that might consider staying at Newport Resort. These are just some of the many issues that people should be aware of: 1) Worn out looking rooms 2) No air conditioners in any of the one bedroom suites. 3) Living room air conditioners in those one bedroom suites do not cool the units down. 4) Walls have on going leaks with water damage dried, crumbling and mold. 5) More mold in the walls and inside the air conditioners. 6) Carpet coming up in units For what you are paying for these rooms here does not come to any value. It is also very sad that the management blames the cheapness of the owners to the customers as being unprofessional running the blame game. The management and the condition of these units are is very sad and they should be very ashamed of running the resort like this. Like the management told us they are having a board meeting to bring this up. My question to you is, the same complaints months ago and longer by other guests...what happened to those board meetings of bringing these questions up. Maybe the owners need to hear that the managers blame the owners for their run down rooms. Lastly, mold is a very serious issue that puts people in harm. This should be addressed ASAP before you are hit with lawsuits. read more

I was happy to have another 2BR/2Bath resort in the heart of Door County to stay w/my family. * Great location, easy to find and near stores, etc. * Loved the back patio. * The "master" is tiny, can't move well in there. * The indoor pool/hot tub was awesome, felt clean. Kids had a ball. * Breakfast options lean, we avoided it after the first day, particularly b/c there was no fruit. * I had to compare it to my 2015 visit to Bayshore, comparatively Newport is nice but not as nice as Bayshore in terms of quality...some of the space was tired (shower door rusty/didn't close easily, kitchen low quality and it was smallish. Unlike other properties, no water view so I'd probably stay elsewhere next time. read more

Four adults stayed in one of the two bedroom suites; all four of us found the beds very hard and unforgiving. A couple we spoke with down in the parking lot who were also guests there made the same comment about the bed. The air conditioning units in the king size bedroom and living room did not seem to cool at all. Thankfully the outside temperature dropped after the first day, so we were able to open the windows and get the bedrooms and living room area to a comfortable temperature. The kitchen appliances were all good and worked without any problems. We were there toward the end of the Covid outbreak, so the swimming pools, etc. were not open and I am not able to provide any review. The location of the resort is excellent, so if you don't mind a hard bed and lack of air conditioning, this would be your place. I personally would not stay there again. read more

My husband and I arrived here in early June 2013 about 4 hours before check-in was supposed to begin. We had no problem getting our room at that time, which was a great start! Our room was very nice, only small complaint was the ventilation in the bedroom, it got rather warm at night, but that was okay. This resort is in a great area of Egg Harbor and you're within walking distance of shopping and restaurants and a short drive from Ephraim and Fish Creek. You definitely can't beat a resort that has frozen pizzas at the front desk if you get a late night craving! We decided to get one "just in case" before heading out for a long evening. Glad we did! Rooms are very clean and the view is beautiful. We wanted to stay here again in late August for our anniversary but unfortunately they were booked. We will definitely stay here again! read more

my fiance and i have not checked into this hotel yet BUT so far the customer service has been nothing but wonderful so far, i have called many times to ask questions and they have been nothing but helpful and kind. we are going to stay labor day week and can not be more excited! i will update this review as soon as we complete our stay! ** UPDATE ** we just finished our stay at new port resort and we will definitely be back! DVDS you can rent, free delicious coffee, fitness room , cute little market , good location for the most part , more modern, free Wi-Fi and no bugs! CONS: The pool is not 24 hours or open late. This needs to be changed the pool should be at least open until midnight. You get DVDs to rent but they charge you $1.99 per movie , wrong we paid enough to stay here those should be free. No one is at the front desk after 10 , really strange. Granted they have emergency call people after 10 but still someone should be there at all times. No activities at the resort. Printer is broken. They give you free bike rentals but they are not regular bikes they are cruiser pedal bikes BAD! On location, good BUT door county really needs a late night food spot in egg harbor. We rented a suite at the Newport for a few days and it was really nice. The bed was super comfy and everything was clean and updated. My only complaint is you can't turn off the fireplace which made cooling off the rooms a bit difficult but we just opened some windows. My toddler liked the play area and we didn't get to use either pool but they looked nice. The front desk staff was helpful with recs for places to eat . The grounds were nice and well kept, close to town but set back enough to enjoy your coffee in the morning on your own private patio. Overall very impressed and will be back! Stayed here for 3 nights in the 2 bedroom suite for just the 2 of us. The place is spacious and pretty clean. What i really hated was the cloudy water from the bathroom sink! Even when i ran it for awhile, it was grey! The king bed was comfy, the couch not so much. We didnt use the kitchen much since we ate out a lot. The floors were a bit sticky so i never felt my feet were clean. The outside pool is dirty, but the indoor pool and hot tub is fun! The shampoo is gross and so is the soap. The breakfast was edible and everyone said to stay away from the donuts and yes they look nasty. The coffee was decent. The location is cute and quiet, but wished we stayed in fish creek where more was happening. The room itself was roomy and decent for the price. read more

The hotel is a very clean and spacious hotel. Well manicured grounds and complimentary bikes to ride around Egg Harbor. We came in a group of 12 including 6 kids and had a very relaxing time. They have a heated indoor and outdoor pool, for the kids to relax in plus a whirlpool that allows children. The hotel is close to many activities- 15 minutes to Peninsula State Park, drive in movie theater and the town of Fish Creek that has many restaurants. The only thing that could be improved is the selection of complimentary breakfast items. First time to Door County and pleasantly surprised by number of outdoor activities. The hotel and surrounding areas are an ideal place to slow down and relax. read more

We really love Newport Resort, but one thing I thought was odd was that when you walk by the front desk the reception people rarely acknowledge you. I would look at them and smile and try to say hello but they would act like they didn't notice I was there. The cleaning staff were far more friendly. Some of the front desk staff were friendly and the resort is clean and nice. You can tell Newport wants to create a great customer experience, too bad many of the front desk staff don't seem to be on the same page as the rest of the resort. read more

It's awesome there is a breakfast in the morning always and there is a inside pool and a outdoor pool along with a hot tub. Also there is a ball pit for the kids to play in. This is my favorite hotel I've ever been in. read more

Nice facility. Family friendly - indoor and outdoor pool, video game arcade, play room, etc. Close enough to walk to the main area in a Egg Harbor. Clean room and a fine size kitchen. I, however, give 3 stars as to 4 or 5 as I am fuming now from having been treated like an idiot by this male evening front personnel. All I wanted to clarify was the emails I have received when I made a reservation (and paid a deposit of a half of the total charge) and the second email from when we checked in. The second email showed simply "total charge" ($900 plus) in stead of "balance of the total." The evening attendant didn't have any interest in hearing me out but kept explaining what I already know and something I wanted to clarify. He even cut me off (a way of silence me?) and asked me if I wanted a receipt. Then, he went on and underlined and circled the 2 charges - a deposit and the balance. Again, all I wanted to clarify was the second email that was, in my opinion, misleading. It was NOT he didn't understand what I was trying to say as he never had me repeat myself but it WAS that he did NOT WANT to understand my question. Maybe I am ASIAN as this happens sometimes from those who determine that I can't speak English even they have no trouble understanding me. Additionally, he was almost laughing about my being mixed up on my room number and made a comment "It is a little bit different." What a funny guy and good job laughing at your customer! I will not let him spoil my vacation but will not want to see him before I leave! read more

Very relaxing getaway destination spot. It's "off peak" season & found the Newport , a full service hotel. Took advantage of their "Romance Package" & it was such a great deal, we got gift certificates, to use around town, an in room whirlpool & a bottle of local wine. Defiantly will become a regular customer. Forgot to add, the Newport is within walking distance of the entire town - food & sightseeing. Not to miss! read more

I booked a suite through Expedia for the July 6th and 7th weekend and received a confirmation back. On the way to Door County we called to tell them we would be there and they said they didn't have a reservation for us. I have the email confirmation. Newport was very unhelpful and pointed the finger at Expedia. They said Expedia didn't send the confirmation and Expedia said they did. Someone is lying. Perhaps they were overbooked and just tossed out our reservation. I used to work front desk at a hotel so I know what kind of actions could have been taken. Not going to accept the Expedia excuse because Newport is responsible for how their rooms are sold and marketed. Pretty bad experience. read more

Our choice when visiting Door County. Each suite includes a full kitchen with stove, refrigerator (w/ ice maker), dish washer, microwave, toaster, dishes, utencils, etc. The premium suites add robes and views of Egg Harbor. The living room now has a flat screen TV and DVD player (the bedroom has a smaller tube TV). The bedroom, while small, still offers a comfortable king size bed. The bathroom includes a whirlpool tub. A deck or patio has a table and chairs. Two pools are available - one indoor and another outdoor. Breakfast is offered each morning and includes breads, cereals, and the usual beverages. A limited selection of DVD's are available for rent and the lobby has a PC for internet access (the rooms are wifi equiped). Bicycles are available to rent. Elevators are available in both buildings and parking is plentiful. The grounds, rooms, and hallways are all well maintained. The hallways could use a little better lighting. Noise levels are low and we rarely heard other guests. Prices vary depending on the season and multi-day stays are sometimes required. Location is the big plus for this hotel. Within walking distance of Egg Harbor shopping and dining. The well stocked (!) market is a couple of blocks away and includes a meat counter, deli, and extensive wine selection. A bakery is right next door to the market. read more

We love staying in Door County during the winter. My husband and I try to get away a weekend or mid-week. You could not beat the price. The amenities are some of the best that we have experienced up north. This was the perfect place to enjoy a nice quiet, slow couple of days. read more
