I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

It's main raison d'etre, I suppose, is the fact that it's located just by the Queen Street Station. If you don't want to pay station prices for a bit of lunch to eat on the train - then I suggest that you stop off here first. As well as the aforementioned crisps and confectionery, McColl's also do a "meal deal" which unsurprisingly is remarkably similar to the Boot's incentive of the same name. True, they don't have a huge selection of sandwiches, but they'll almost definitely have something that you fancy eating. They also claimed to have a selection of fresh fruits to count towards your 5 a day, at a very attractive 49p each. However, when I popped in there this morning the fruit shelves were completely bare. There wasn't even a single sad looking satsuma to tempt me with. Ah well, maybe next time!

They also have everything your heart desires for your train journey, as McColls is right outside Queen St station, but it isn't really much cheaper than the station prices.

It's cramped inside and it's not always well stocked so it can be a bit hit and miss. They have a modest range of beers wines and spirits, with regular promotions on different drinks. I quite like Co-op's own brand of most things, including their cold meat and bakery products. It's a bit dearer than Asda or Tesco and the other big boys, but I still find myself going back. A busy enough wee place.

Generally these days, if I'm in the City Centre and my shopping list consists of much more than eggs, milk and bread, this is where I go. Their range is just that bit wider than that of their nearest neighbours and that makes all the difference. I don't want to have to visit four city centre supermarkets to find cornflower, for example, so I just start here. The other advantage of a slightly larger store is that they have more price point options than your average convenience store. It still won't be the cheapest possible shop, but for at least some items they'll have the "budget", the "regular" and the "luxury" options to choose from. They also have space to run just a few more promotions and, as they insist upon reminding us, every little helps.

We were only in to get bread but I was hoping to grab some more food essentials, sadly looking at how messy everything was really put me off so I just got the bread and left. Would I return to this Sainsbury's? No. There's a better, bigger one around the corner.

Just inside the Savoy Centre on Sauchiehall Street (don't worry, you won't have to venture too far…read moreinside) you will find Sweet Dreams, which is a delightfully old fashioned tiny sweet shop. It advertises it's presence with one of those bright pink neon signs, shaped into a sweet. What can I say? It worked for me. Sweet Dreams is more of an alcove than a shop really, but is nevertheless stacked full with jars containing probably pretty much every type of sweet that you can think of. You'll also find such delights as gingerbread houses and candy canes. Yum. The lady that works there is friendly and helpful - without jumping down your throat too much. She gave us plenty of time to choose what we wanted (it's difficult when there is so much to choose from!) and when we'd finally made up our minds, we found that it was pretty well priced as well. Those of you who have a sweet tooth, it's probably worth making a quick dash into the Savoy Centre to visit Sweet Dreams!

Inside there are sections for sandwiches and lunch items, fresh fruit and veg, some fresh meat, fish and dairy items in chiller cabinets, a small frozen section, mostly dedicated to pizza. Dried canned and tinned goods, magazines, beer and wine and a small toiletries section. They have a couple of regular checkouts, normally with just one of them being operated at they have a couple of self service checkouts. The staff are pretty good - they're efficient and friendly and tend to anticipate when the self service checkouts will need attention.
