I can't understand why they choose to conduct business this way. Is everything a little bit cheaper than around the island? Yes, prices are definitely more affordable, which is what you should expect from an Armed Forces Exchange. But for some reason, they decided that the best way to serve the military community on Oahu is to make them line up first thing in the morning on a first come first serve basis for all auto services. Oil change, 4 new tires with balancing, safety inspection, transmission repair? Active Duty, Dependent, Handicapped Retired Vets: All the same line. I think these guys must have run rifle ranges and thought that making people wait for extended periods of time unnecessarily was so hilariously awesome, that they needed to extend it to life outside the service. And there's no line; it's a gaggle and just pray that everyone recognizes common decency demeanor of who was there first. Get there at 0701, forget about getting any services on that day. And don't think that being the first in line is going to get you anything other than 2.5 hours to put on tires, when every other shop does it in 30-45 mins. Why they can't adhere to the pretty well accepted automotive practice of making appointments, is completely beyond me. Also, on random days (like one of the ones that I chose to try and come down and hit the "get the tires I already paid for put on my truck lottery") they will just not open and put a sign on the door that says "Closed, Staff". So, the next time you need something done on your vehicle and you are an authorized patron, and you see that they're open until 5, and you call and they quote you a better price than everywhere else you have called, and that you can come down and pay, and then just come down another day "anytime after 0700", realize that THIS is why they have 2.5 Yelp Stars. Excellent customer service and support for your car needs. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the military community that has a valid and current DOD access. Came in for tires and oil and you need to prepay for the tires and then after you can schedule a service for installation and oil change service. The inside has a wide variety of car care products along with if you would rather do it yourself oil change since they have the quarts on the side. Called ahead to schedule a service was able to choose a date along with inputting the rewards number. Good to know if you have one! To keep track of all the points for rewards. While tire and service prices may be lower than other places, the jury is out whether it's worth it or not to get your vehicle serviced here. The tires that that they put on my car last week are from 2023. That kind of worries me, but my husband said they should be fine. Mindi was extremely cordial and has great customer service skills. Presently surprised Well I through I already did a review but I guess not so here it goes. First this is a great replacement from the old service station on base. There's more stalls for the mechanics which means more open slots to make appointments. Second there's more selection of car parts for us DIY peeps. Of course not as much as Auto Zone or O'Reillys (I know you read those reviews) but a fair amount. FYI for parts they don't carry they buy at O'Reilly's at a 10% discount. You don't get the discount but you pay zero tax. Third the waiting room is decent. There's less chairs because of social distancing (I prefer saying social spacing cause I like chatting with friends), a couple modern snack machines. And gone is the Keurig but they kept the cell phone charging station. Just bring your own cable. Ooh and the reason I came in was because I had two screws implanted in my tire. Since I brought my tires here it's a free repair. SCORE!! Overall four stars. The AC works unlike the last place. The place is clean and very well stocked. I can say that because they don't sell TP or sanitary wipes here. People are friendly and quick. No five today because the TV is broken. Now what am I going to do?!?!? 1 star only because I have to leave 1 in order to write this review. Safety Inspection was scheduled in advance for today and you husband was told the guy is not in. My husband then leaves the truck and hopes that it can be done. After a couple of hours he returns to pick up his truck and was told they haven't done the safety inspection because they need proof of insurance...well, he pulls up our digital insurance cards and shows them but they refuse to accept the digital cards on smartphone and expect to see printed cards. Frustrating...as my husband argues with them about a bill that Hawaii State Governor Ige has signed in 2016 (HB 1705) allowing the use of digital insurance cards as acceptable form to present insurance cards via smartphone, they continue to refuse the presentation of our proof of insurance. Already upset and frustrated, my husband leaves to get what he needs from another NEX Autoport with no problems regarding digital proof of insurance. What a waste of time and bad joo joo having to deal with the sub base Autoport in the first place. Save your sanity and avoid at all costs. Go to another Autoport, you'll be better off! We didn't need an appointment and walk in only took an hour or 2 compared to the all day unnecessary frustration of a scheduled appt you never expected. read more

This is the newly renovated NEX car care center. There are reviews on here from the old one. It just opened up in May. I came here to get new tires. My hubby is currently deployed and I am using his car. They were having a good year special. They looked up tires that were comfort and there was a great deal on them. They were cheaper than Costco prices. They were all booked with appointments so they said I could do a walk in. I dropped off my car the night before and it was done by 11 am. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. You can only drop off and pick up your car with a military ID. It's a nice location conveniently located close to the gas station and Navy Exchange mall. I am here again today due to a light indicator. I wasn't sure where else to take my car for tire service, especially when the NEX Tire Center was shut down due to technological or mechanical difficulty and the clerk advised me to head over here. So I drove onto base and sought help from the NEX Autoport. Because it was so close to closing time, they had to hold my car overnight. By 9AM the next day, it was ready for pickup. I had my husband go over to pick it up. His only gripe was that the information on the receipt wasn't very clear about what they did to repair the tire, and he had to jump through a few hoops to find someone who could fill him in. It isn't the first place I'd take my car for service. But, if you're in a pinch, it will do and the pricing is fair. read more

Omg the torture of having to do a safety inspection before getting your car registration and then after again. And the fact that they move so slow is pure torture. The first Time we came we failed due to not having a front license and out of state licenses. We had to make an appointment to get a front plate out onto the car since when we bought it out of state the car did not come with front licenses since it wasn't required. Had to come back again after just to fail again but to prove we had the front license put on. The second time we came they told us we should have just gotten the registration and have the front license plate put on by time we did the final safety inspection which sucked! Such a waste of time. So yesterday we finally got our registration and had an appointment to do our final safety inspection at 10. At 10:21 somebody finally came to get insurance, at 1045 we see our car back in the parking lot and guess what it took another 20 minutes before they called to let us know it was done! Where is this disconnect coming from, and then we had to go up front just to get our keys and guess what they moved slower than molasses. We stood in line another 30 minutes just to get our keys and sign something. I got so fed up and asked why we couldn't just get our keys instead of being in another long line and was told it's because I had to sign something! Like why on earth can they not come to the back like they do when they get our keys to have us sign something. The process to get title and registration switched here is tedious and will have you leaving wanting to rip your hair out. read more

Took our car in for a tire warranty replacement on a tire that was bought 8 months ago. When they gave me the prorated invoice, it stated that the total cost was $189 on a warranty replacement for a tire prices at $208 brand new. It was supposed to be prorated so as I reviewed the invoice, they had the tire measured at 4/32 out of 9/32 on 8 month old tires. I asked to see the tire to confirm and they wouldn't let me. Instead, they sent someone to the back to remeasure it. They came back saying it was 8/32 out of 9/32. My advice; REVIEW YOUR INVOICE! This is typical predatory behavior for any shop. Most people wouldn't even question it and just pay. Shame on you, NEX for this behavior. Thank god it wasn't my wife that went in. She would have just paid the bill. But I guess that was what you were hoping for. Tax free or not, I will NOT be returning to this place for any future service. Edit: Theo gives nothing but problems. Here are some examples, this morning I overheard the employee tell a customer it will take half a day to patch a tire, then they told me it will take all day just to do a oil change. I heard they were backed up for the day on cars from yesterday. Maybe they should hire more people or quit hiring friends or family that don't care. I had a great experience here. My Total was half what I was given as an estimate from sears. Once I picked out my tires I was given an appointment a few days out. I came right on time, was processed and handed over my keys. In exactly an hour and a half I received the call it was ready. Walked in payed my $100 installation fee and the car was waiting for me in the front. I got 10% off my purchase thanks to the scratch card which they accept and final appointments for the day are around 4:30 since they close at 7. 10/01/19: I sent my car to have my Brake Flushed, Felix was the person who helped me and I asked him if I can designate someone to pick up my car since I will be working during the next day, and he said wait for the call when your car is ready and just let that person know who you want to pick up your car. 10/02/19 @ 8:08am: Got a call from Kayla, she said my car was ready, I then tried to ask her if I can have someone pick up my car for me, she then said, "I CANT HEAR YOU, your coming in and out!" Do not take your car here. They lost my wheel lock and put on my paperwork that the wheel nut was missing before they serviced my car. It has been raining and my wheels are dirty. This is just not a nut. Its the lock for my tires. Update, I made an ICE complaint immediately. Today, 12/31/16 I get a call from the manager that he has a new set of locks for my car, even though yesterday he told me proper protocol has to be followed and that will be by initiating a claim. Geez, where to begin? My last experience was about 10 years ago at the Subase Tire Center so this was my recent experience. Didn't like the old Subase where the grumpy old men worked, but was floored with the professional experience I had at the NEX Car Care Center. Maybe it was a slow day, but as soon as I walked in, i was promptly greeted. Service clerk, Theo, helped me to get a set of 4 new tires. I was very pleased with the service and Aloha attitude. This place is a joke! Please do not come here! I had ordered a set of 4 run flat tires from them, they installed the tires, couple weeks later my tire caution notification popped up saying they needed air, this was ridiculous because I just got these tires, next day I go and a kind sales lady informed me that my tires were placed incorrectly. My vehicle has a staggered wheel setup meaning the back is wider than the front, they put the front tires on the back...I was understanding and asked them to just put the tires on the correct rims! They proceeded to do so and by that time the damage was done and air would not stop leaking from my tires. I told them my situation and they've treated me terribly, they didn't apologize or even offer any help and they keep saying they can't order me a new set of tires despite this whole ordeal being their fault...the workers are extremely disrespectful and have such disgusting attitudes. It's unprofessional and they are cutting corners. This has spanned over the course of 2 months now! I just went in and when I asked what they could do for me the man at the desk looked at me and said nothing, I asked can I see the report because he said the mechanic was able to repair the back left tire, in the report it just said "tire repaired" no details saying what was wrong with the tire just that it was repaired! That's insane, especially because it's nearly impossible to "repair" run flat tires I wish I could give zero stars this whole experience has been absolutely horrible and unnecessary! read more

I have had a HORRIBLE experience at the NEX Car Care Center and want to get the word out so no one else is left stranded with children due to their negligence. I was there last week because my car was screeching and I wanted my belts repaired/replaced. They said they "had to charge $120 for noise inspection". Ok fine. Then they came back with a list of repair work that would've cost over $1400 insisting all of the noise is coming from my ac compressor. I said NO my ac is fine. I'm not replacing the ac compressor. I explained very carefully that the noise happened whether or not the ac was on. I asked REPEATEDLY did you inspect the belts? After 5 1/2 hours being there I finally left thinking ok my ac is going to stop within the next couple months no big deal. Well today I was left stranded with my 4 and 6 year old because my belt to the alternator and water pump IS COMPLETELY SHREDDED. The NEX manager won't refund the $120 because "the ac compressor could still be bad and could've caused the belt to snap" The belt on my ac compressor is fine. It's a completely different belt that snapped and no way could the bad ac compressor that still works cause a belt that runs on a different pully to snap. This whole thing was completely avoidable if they had just inspected the belts as I asked and replaced a $15 part. Instead they assumed they could get money out of me and charged me for an inspection that wasn't done properly. I'm down $120 plus $155 tow and now have no car. This is not only bad service but extremely dangerous. My kids lives were at risk and I thank god that belt finally gave out in a parking lot and not in the H3 tunnel or somewhere remote. Well, here we are again. What's that famous saying. "....The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." I needed a wheel alignment for my car after I put new tires on. Called the service department and was told that they don't take appointments and it's on a first cone first serve basis. No problem I thought as I was told that they open at 7:00am but it's best to get here earlier because a line will form. Again, not a problem as I don't mind coming out this way and putting money back into those organizations that are here for the service members. Up at 6am, arrive at 630am and sure enough, there was indeed two people in front of me. No issues though as they were here for something not related to wheel alignment. 7am hits and the doors open. 710am, at the service desk. Based upon the schedule, I was told 930 or 10am that the car would be finished. 3 hours isn't bad so I accept that and hand over my keys and head towards the NEX. At 10am, I decided to make the walk back to the location because I hadn't gotten word as to a status or if the service was completed. Stood in line only to find out the car was not ready. No big deal, just want an update on time that it "might be ready"; so I can hang out here in the AC. 1020am. To my surprise, I was told that the inspection had just been finished and that they were putting my car on the rack to perform the alignment. Again I asked what time do they "think" it would be ready; was told probably after lunch. I asked what time is "after lunch", the reply was about 1230pm or so. Not only was I shocked at the response but was thinking why does it take over 2 plus hours for an alignment especially when you have had my car for 3 hours? Why would you quote me three hours, not give me a call to update that quote then add an additional 2 plus hours to that time AND tell me that the service requested hadn't even been started? After I went and sat down in the lounge, I was notified that my approximate service completion time changed from 1230pm or so to 30-45 minutes from now. A welcomed change and update but still aggravating AF. It's the old adage of you get what you pay for guess. There is a reason the only charge "$99.00" for an "non-appointment" wheel alignment. If saving money on a wheel alignment is important BUT getting your car back in a timely fashion is not so important, this place is for you. If you are on any type of schedule or just want clear and concise information regarding service and getting your car back, spend the extra coin and go somewhere else. Turn in 710am receive back at 1204pm. Yep, 5 hours for a wheel alignment. Good luck. read more

Okay so they are good when it comes to tires and tire replacement. Recommend for that. But when it comes to other services, they are TERRIBLE. I paid for full service when it came to my oil change and they did the bare minimum and did NOT do the full service I paid for. I want my refund but honestly I'm too pissed off to go back unless I truly need to. So yes, in conclusion, there's a reason why this place only has two stars. I bought my tires here two weeks ago and wanted the tires to be replaced and installed ASAP, BUT the earliest appointment to get my tires installed was on December 14th at 7:30am, which was supposed to be today! Today, they called me 24 minutes BEFORE my appointment time to tell me that my appointment needed to be rescheduled due to one of their employees not showing up for work or something like that. I waited so long for nothing and for them just to reschedule my appointment?! Also, they couldn't get me in any time slot today. To the representatives and technicians of the Car Care Center, we were told by your staff that they will top off all fluids within my vehicle. With that being said, we were not informed that they had not done so resulting in further damage of my vehicle. I had to spend approximately $900 to repair the damages when all of these events could have been avoided. I believe we as customers have the right to know what is wrong with our vehicle. In my past experiences with on and off base establishments that have worked on my vehicles, they have either topped off my fluids or have informed me to do so. I was extremely disappointed at the service I received due to the negligence of the staff. I dropped my car off with them and in about 30 minutes got a call to come pick it up again. Couldn't ask for an easier process for getting the sticker for my car. Took my car in on July 2, 2015 to trouble shoot an ESP traction light, on my dodge charger that would light up while driving. The goal was to fix the sensor, to ship my vehicle with Horizon lines because I was pcs'g to Arkansas. My vehicle sat in the shop to "wait for parts" for about 2 weeks, then on the 22nd of July, my vehicle was ready for pick up (the auto shop assured me that all the lights were off and my car was ready to ship), I paid about $893 for parts and labor, WHICH I DIDN'T MIND AT THE TIME. After picking up my vehicle, I drove it down the road and the squiggly lights came back on immediately, plus the ABS light (which did not happen before)!!!!! Called the shop back and they wanted to see the vehicle, took my car back into the shop for further review. 2 days later I received a call from NEX Autoport advising me that my dodge needed another part to the ABS module. At this point I am totally confused... why didn't their ASE certified mechanics catch this before returning the vehicle to me??? I mean, right when I picked up the vehicle and drove down the road, the freaking lights came on!!!! WTH???? I couldn't afford to wait for the freaking part to ship in, so the Manager "Shaun" agreed to write up a certified memo, stating that my vehicle was in good driving condition, even though the traction light (first problem) and the ABS (second problem by autoport) were lighting up. The manager reimbursed my $893, the mechanics put the original ABS module back into my vehicle and I thought it would be in the same condition as when I first dropped my car off (normal). As I drove my car down the road again, ALL THE SENSOR LIGHTS WERE ON!!!!! Their so called ASE certified mechanics, didn't sync the programs correctly and NOW all the FREAKING LIGHTS in my vehicle has been turned on!!!!! ABS, BREAKS, TRACTION .... EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I had no choice but to ship my vehicle as is, because we were flying out in 2 days, MY VEHICLE SHIPPED (lights on and all) because of the memo Shaun had certified, stating my vehicle was in good driving condition. We have now PCSd to Arkansas which is 350 miles away from the Texas Vehicle Processing Center. I received an email that my car is available for pick up, I packed my family in my RENTAL CAR and made the 5 hour trip down to TEXAS. Picked up my vehicle, and as soon as I put it into gear, my car would jump/jerk (spooky), when we drove onto freeway (speed limit is 70mph), my car would only drive at 40mph, (which was ODD) the RPM was at a 4, while the gas peddle was at its max. There was no horsepower and I drive a freaking DODGE CHARGER for crying out loud. This has never happened to my car, EVER!!!!!!! My vehicle was in perfect driving condition before I took it to NEX Autoport!!!! From the freeway, we pulled over on the next exit and I called my insurance company, only to find out I am only allowed 11 miles of towing, after that I needed to pay, PER MILE. My car got towed to the nearest car shop (Kwik Kar) and they told me the ABS module was not synced with the codes to my vehicle (there is no communication with the ABS module and the car's computer system). Which had put my vehicle into LIMP MODE..... WTH!!!!!!!!! Now I am in TEXAS, with my 2 kids (2 years old and 9 years old, both did not eat since the 5 hour drive), my dodge is in a shop and they wouldn't be able to work on it till Monday (August 17, 2015) I am FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!! Spent all that MONEY FOR NOTHING!!!!!!! My husband called the manager "Shaun" at NEZ Autoport and at first, he was giving us every excuse NOT TO HELP US!!!! He said that he didn't need to sign a certified memo for my vehicle and that he just wrote up the memo as a FAVOR!!!! After a long conversation, Shaun advised us that their main office, FLAG SHIP in Virginia would help us out. We provided Shaun my email address and he assured us, that we would receive an email from the main office on Monday August 17, 2015 (today). Monday's business hours came and left...NO EMAIL from their main office in Virginia, no call from the manager Shaun and no assurance that they would help us out due to their lack of quality work!!!!! I now had to pay for a car rental for last weekend and now I have to pay for a truck rental and an automobile trailer, to pick up my vehicle from Texas!!!!!! Plus take advance leave from my job and my daughter now has to miss a couple days of school!!!! This is time and money that I do not have!!!!! As most of you know, a PCS costs about $3,000 to $4,000 at the average for our families!!!!! If you are looking for QUALITY work, which is what EVERY vehicle NEEDS, DO NOT GO TO THIS PIECE OF JUNK autoshop!!!! It's a little hard to find this place if you are not familiar with the base. But once you get to the parking area, it is very obvious. Its also the same place you go to if your car gets towed... So I went in to order tires, there wasn't much of a line, awesome! There was only one female that works there, and she asked me if she could help me, it was in such a rude manner. Really? Anyone every taught you anything about customer service? Either way, I was friendly. Gave her my tire info and she charged me for it and told me to go around to the service desk to make an appointment, the whole process was painful, like I was preventing her from doing something far more important. I went around, waited in line, after about 10 minutes, she comes over and tells me the tires I ordered were out of stock. Again, she was not apologetic, she was annoyed, as if it were my fault. We ordered a different set that cost me $20 more for each tire, ugh! Now I'm in the service line, the guy tells me that I don't need to make an appointment, just bring it in the next morning and I should be fine. Next day I went in at 0800, my bad, there hours are different than the actual store. The service office opens at 0700. They tell me that they won't be able to do mine, bc they already had a lot. Really? I should have made that appointment. So I decided to come in the next day instead, he told me to just come in the morning and they will get it done. I said no, I want an appointment. Scheduled it for an oil change and new tire installation. Dropped my car off the next day, and it was done half an hour early, wow. I looked at the balance and asked about my oil change, apparently it didn't get done. Bummer!!! They said I could wait, but I was over it. This place has been a disappointment. Aside from it being convienant due to location, and the military discounts. This place blows. I would have given it a one star if it was based on customer service only, but the discounts makes the place very attractive, that's why I gave it two. This place makes me feel like they don't have to treat us with courtesy because we are military. I think customer service should apply anywhere you go. I don't know if they are dishonest, or just not paying attention, but either way, the end result is frustrating. We took our car in with a screw in the tire, hoping for a plug. The car just passed safety inspection at the base's auto hobby shop 6 weeks ago, but these guys claimed they couldn't patch the tire because it was bald. It's not bald, but whatever, I'm not up for towing it somewhere else. So let's get 2 new tires. Fine. Then they claimed the tires we had were the wrong size? We purchased and had them mounted at a tire specialty shop and drove on them just fine for a few years... Seems unlikely. But hey, they've got a deal for this! 4 tires will be cheaper than 2 anyway... Seems shady. Whatever, 4 new tires will take care of us for a while. FINE. We asked for an estimate, we asked to pay in full. We paid, and dude said we were good to go, all paid for, pick tomorrow. Go to pick it up, and they won't release it until we settle the bill. They didn't charge us labor. The estimate didn't show labor. We (stupid, I know) assumed that labor was included in the amount on the estimate to Purchase and INSTALL 4 tires. Silly us. They claimed they were no copy of that estimate on file. Fine, show us the copy you do have. Oh, no estimate on file at all??? Convenient. BS. So, no amount of arguing that they couldn't provide an estimate and charge us accordingly, then forget something and charge us later would work. They would not release our car, so we had to pay. Granted - we paid for work we received. But we agreed to that work based on the price provided. No additional work came up that added to the estimate. They just screwed up, and held our car for their mistake. Not cool, not cool at all. I feel like an idiot for not stopping at each of the red flags - claiming our tires were bald, then claiming they were the wrong size, etc. But you think you can trust the Navy Exchange. You can't make an appointment, so you have to show up and hope you get in. i was the first one there. Told him what i wanted, which was 2 new front tires, remount the spare and an alignment. He quoted a price and said we will be done by 9:00. I thought cool. I waited until nearly 10:00, before the guy came out and told me they could not do the alignment, told me the reasons, and a price to fix the problems. Why would it take them an hour longer to not do the job ?? IDK They charged me $43.00 for an inspection, which i never asked for, and the woman at the check out, seemed to not know anything about anything. Friends do not let friends go here !! read more

Terrible. They said a part break and they need to order. I waited a month and they said they forgot to order. One month later to get it installed they said that I DONT EVEN HAVE THAT PART IN MY CAR??? Did they even look at my car the first time? They are horrible. read more

This shop is only good for and oil change and tire rotation. I took my car in for a problem, they completely misdiagnosed it, then charged me for a new tensioner, which didn't solve the problem. $200 later, I took it to Wally's, and Sung diagnosed it immediately. Problem solved! read more

Came in the other day and I was looking for a certain item, one of the workers comes and asks me if he can help and I tell him where I can find this item... He kind of gives me a snotty reply which I just shrug off..he then continues while im paying by asking me "did you find everything?" Once again in a snotty attitude....granted I was there about 10 mins before they were supposed to close, so I understand he was wanting to get out of there...BUT still treat customers with respect regardless... Prices and products they have are pretty decent though so I will return here. read more

Despite the bad reviews I decided to try this place out. My battery had died. I called the day before to make sure they carried the right battery for my car. Battery instillation is only done on a walk in basis. I had my car jumped and arrived at the shop right when it opened. Even so, I still had to wait about 2.5 hours for the instillation because there were still five cars before me. But I was told it would be this long so it wasn't a huge issue. They offer a drop off service so someone dropped me off where I needed to go. No pickup, but the drop off shuttle service was more than I had expected. Because I had purchased my battery from the shop I got an instillation discount which basically made the instillation free ($10). Overall I was really pleased with this place. Everyone was courteous and helpful and my car is now running again :-) read more

I came by an hour before closing and waited in line. The lady in front of me was debating with the supervisor but I paid it little mind. When it was my turn I was told maybe a safety check but no oil change, because they want to close soon. The supervisor walked away and the other gentleman said no safety check I'm doing this one and then I'm done. The supervisor came back and said they weren't doing any more services at all. I later realized the woman in front of me was having the same argument to try to have her car serviced before closing. Perhaps they should alter their hours since they will not take cars after a certain time. Unpleasant overall experience. read more
