The manager refused to return the item because she deemed it "unsellable"--even though it was in the exact condition I bought it in. The bath had no packaging and I bought it on good faith that the Mothercare brand is one of quality and that I would be treated with respect should I choose not to keep the item. I was wrong. Don't visit this branch. The unkind staff, negative vibes and unreliable products are the last thing you need while pregnant. And if it can be avoided, purchase your baby stuff from places other than Mothercare. I know I will.

I picked out a few pieces of clothing (Petit Bateau) and a book. Everything was sort of tossed in the bag without any regard for it (it's expensive stuff, too!) -- no gift wrapping offered, not even bags anywhere to be bought. Seems like an oversight. There is a shoe section in the back that was absolutely rammed with kids and parents. NO THANK YOU. I ordered online at Amazon after waiting forever to be helped and no one coming. They have a lot of toys, again -- all overpriced, but sometimes that's what you get for the convenience of shopping locally. I'm happy to support small local stores and pay the upcharge but do expect the experience to match. I tried to purchase a ball my son had taken a shine too but after 10 minutes of her trying to ring it up I just said "forget it" and she let me. Weird. This felt rushed and hurried and not overly friendly. It's a kids store, c'mon people!

Yet, there is something endearing about Chris and Nicki. This shop is completely behind the times, sells no labels, just clothing that looks sort of religious and cheap handbags. This store has also a small children's section. I am rooting for this shop because it is so blissfully unware of any sort of hipness. It is refreshing. I like the cheese factor. I don't know if this store will last longer than the current generation shopping in it (probably older folks). It makes me feel soft though, reminds me of Grandma in Brooklyn on 86th street.

Ok, I'm new to the world of baby stuff, but is £18 really appropriate for a teeny-tiny new-born-baby vest? You can get a pack of 5 for about a tenner in Sainsburys or Mothercare. Still, despite the pricey pricey price-tag, I cannot deny being a huge fan of JMB's range of clothes and the quality of their products. The Autumn collection is now well underway and their selection of corduroy skirts, hooded coats and patterned tights are just so beautiful, how is a brand new aunt supposed to resist? She then proceeded to SNIFF the dress and ask if it had been worn. I was outraged and extremely embarrassed. To add insult to injury she refused to exchange the garment because the tiny tag wasn't on it. Obviously we'd removed it so that my daughter could try it on without being stabbed by a huge piece of card and plastic. Quite frankly I would not recommend shopping in this store. It's ridiculously expensive for what they offer and their customer service is sub-standard to say the least.

But then I don't live in Primrose Hill, nor do I have an indisposable salary. If I did, I may just be tempted to buy a thing or two in here because most of the items are adorable. You can see that the buyers for this store know a thing or two about fashion because the items are mini-me versions of what's going on in the high street. They've also got a lovely range of maternity wear from names like Stella McCartney that are designed not to make you look like a planet - now this is probably an investment worth the price. Sometimes they have half-price sales and of course lots of accessories, socks, hats etc and I've often picked something up for my little nephew for £15, which isn't all that bad.
