The husband/wife pastor team are a young, energetic couple who have truly embraced the community they lead. The music was passionate and genuine and the people were very friendly. I was amazed at how long the people hung out after the service just to talk and get to know each other. The atmosphere was very low pressure and relaxed. Your listing are incorrect…read more The New pastor- Pastor Aaron Grass has lead the church from 24 people to over 200 people being served by 2 services 9am and 11am with children's church/ bible study. It does not have a gay pride flag outside. Before I ever came to my first Service, Pastor Aaron took me to coffee to meet and welcome me. There is no gay pride flag outside.

Only writing of what I personally felt with nothing else intended!8 From an old fashioned foot washing Baptist with a quiet piano sounding afar and congregation, pleasingly dressed to please God, standing, (no microphones allowed) around the altar singing where many were saved and will be saved, with the spirit and holy ghost felt by all. Cushions on the pews! What a novel idea! Not sure how old the church itself is, but does feel like it's been a longtime fixture in the community. Has that old New England feel to it. I didn't look at the occupancy permit, but I think there were close to 100+ people there for the service. Could have squeezed a few more in, though not many without standing. Parking lot is very small. Overflow parking is either on the street, or the grassy area behind and beside the Fremont Historical Museum at the corner, or the elementary school across Beede Hill Road (except when school is in), or the safety complex across Route 107. The pastor was relaxed and with a good sense of humor. He was using a microphone, but the acoustics were excellent and I could easily hear other speakers from where I was at the back. Organist/pianist performed beautifully. There is a community room off to the side for a reception. I wasn't able to stay so can't comment on it.

The past year that I have been in Boston has involved a lot of researching denominations and trying to understand them and the SBC certainly is a hard one to grapple with for many. But no matter how many times I've ventured elsewhere, I *always* come back to Hope Fellowship. Mostly, that is because I'm convinced that Hope Fellowship is led by godly, prayerful people and that the Spirit is bearing fruit here. Again, trust me, I get the doctrinal disputes and I struggle with the SBC on certain issues. At Hope, the leadership doesn't shy from hard topics but it also doesn't give black-and-white, pre-scripted answers; nor does it give wishy-washy, ungrounded ones. I've only ever seen Hope leadership tackle highly sensitive subjects in a nuanced, thoughtful, and humble way. Even if you don't agree 100%, you know you can share your perspective with leadership and be heard and loved. Furthermore, personally, I've found that this church has a refreshing way of incorporating confession and also rejoicing in God's mercy. During each service we have a call-and-response of a Psalm and then a prayer of confession and then a passage reminding us of how we have been redeemed from that sin. It's so balanced and thoughtful and, to me, really models what we see throughout Acts as people come to faith--a rhythm of repentance and joyfully accepting God's grace. If you are looking for a church that does not shy from tough questions and that will continually extend the love of Christ to you and motivate you to do the same for others, this place does that.
