This is a local Buffalo magazine. It's printed monthly and covers all sorts of local topics, from…read moreour amazing immigrant population to the great developments happening all over the area. Local artists and craftspeople are featured here. There is advertising from all sorts of local stores and organizations. There are write ups of city events. Pictures of various charity events around town. The space they occupy is on Elmwood between Hertel and Amherst. Is reused old space and it's awesome. I've been a few times for meetings, but I think they will give you a tour if you ask. And if you've been you'll know the answer to this - what's the largest animal in the space? Drinkable to be sure, but there is something noticeably different about the taste. I'm being a jerk though. It's truly a well-written, informative and interesting magazine. The Walrus features essays, short fiction, poetry and traditional journalism by Canadian writers. I really enjoy The Walrus and was a subscriber until I couldn't keep up with the paper copies, so now I purchase individual issues. A subscription is very affordable (like $20-30 a year), which might explain why the mag is always under suspicion of going under. OK, let me temper that backhanded jibe with another compliment: The Walrus is Canada's magazine and a thorough contemporary document. Read it with pride. Obligatory Title Pun: Goo Goo Ga Joob. I kind of see it as my salute to Canadiana. Some people watch Hockey Night in Canada like a fierce religion, others drink double doubles. I read essays about The Edmonton Fringe Festival, follow the subculture of Newfie Mummers, catch up on my NWT politics and follow a multi-decade tale of a woman's many coast to coast road trips. It takes me an entire month to read it cover to cover, not because I don't want to devour it, I'm just forcing myself to savoUr it. See how I did that? A subtle nod to Canadian spelling. If you're keeping score, there's a few subtle Canadian nuances sprinkled throughout this short review. Bet you'll find them all, eh?

24 Hours is one of the best FREE newspapers I ever read…read more Maybe I am more into Tabloids and Gossips?! Since aside from daily local news and all those ads and classified, there are good recipes and news of Hollywood stars. The printing and the colours are all good quality and quite eye pleasing! Their online version is nicely layout too... and you can read all the back dated versions in case if you forgot to pick up a copy on your way to work. It is distributed Monday to Friday only.

Perhaps everyone in Oakville has it delivered? Either way, once I throw out all the ads I'm left with a paper that is 30% of its original size. The Pudd cartoons have consistently been lame and unfunny and I'll never forget when I read the headline 'tools missing from tool shed'. If that's not news I don't know what is.

It is published weekly both online and in print! There are a lot of advertisements but I kind of expected from free publications but the articles can be quite informative too. Great read while waiting for my food when I am eating alone in a restaurant as it is always readily available at the places I visit!
