Customer service was absolutely fantastic and Tyler W. was accommodating and gave us clear explanations as to what was wrong. We received a text message with a picture of the employees so we knew who to expect and what they looked like. Arlinghaus has to send another worker out to discuss prices on a new furnace. Tyler was able to get our furnace working temporarily as we look into buying a new furnace. It cost $89 for him to come out and diagnose the problem. They will remove this from any extra work they may need to do. Unfortunately, in the end we could not afford even the lowest option they had for a furnace. They use a top furnace line brand and are more expensive then the national average. This was the only draw back for me that it was to expensive and I did not want to enter into a loan for a $7,000 furnace when the average homeowners pay is $3100. Regardless, they were transparent and did not pressure me into anything we didn't want to do. I highly recommend Arlinghaus for their professionalism and honesty with their customers.

We'd recommend them for their professionalism, timeliness, and craftsmanship. Our Story... Our central air wasn't working so we called Rusk hoping to get a technician out to fix our issue.  Judy scheduled our appointment for the next day but called us back and advised that she could get us in that day if we were available.  We welcomed the earlier appointment.   They sent Brock (we think that was his name). He was very professional and pleasantly explained that we likely needed a new unit.  He was empathetic and set the tone for a positive experience.  Enter Steve Morrison.. Steve was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and went the extra mile in surveying our entire home (how many windows, how tall the ceilings are, etc.) to determine the best system for us.  His quote arrived shortly after our interaction and when we posed questions, he responded almost immediately.  We landed on agreeable terms and Steve advised that he'd get our equipment ordered and someone would call us to schedule. Three days later we got a call to begin our installation on the next day.  We were in the midst of a string of hot humid days so we were pleased that they worked us in so quickly during a time of peak demand.  Steve #2 arrived at 7:30 on Friday morning.  He worked quickly and methodically.  He ran into road blocks, and worked his way through.  He provided helpful updates, and answered questions with ease.  Steve went above and beyond to care for our home in a way that we admired. Shoe covers, tarps, all without prompting. We really appreciated his diligence in this area. When it was apparent that he might not complete the job by the end of day, Steve pushed through to make sure our weekend would not be miserably hot and sticky.  As he prepared to leave he provided instructions for the operation of the unit until Monday, outlined the tasks he planned to complete on Monday, and asked if 7:30 was a good start time.  We expected to see him on Monday at 7:30.  We had a great weekend in our newly cooled home.  We prepared to welcome Steve at 7:30 on Monday... our workdays began to ramp up and we lost track of time.  We got a call just after 1:00pm and the scheduler asked if he could send someone over at that time.  I explained that we were expecting Steve that morning and he advised that Steve likely didn't know his schedule... this was the first interaction that was contrary to our expectations. Nick arrived shortly after.  Like everyone we'd interacted with, Nick was very pleasant.  My husband asked questions about the tasks Steve identified on Friday.  Nick was eager to continue the installation to our satisfaction, but there were a couple of notes missing in the transition.  He didn't know to secure the unit to the brackets, which was pretty important in our opinion and left fewer filters than previously expressed. We called the office to inquire about the transition and Steve Morrison came back out to ensure that everything was done correctly, and according to Rusk standard. We really appreciated the reassurance. Nobody likes to pay handsomely for unexpected replacement costs, but we feel good about our experience, and the new relationship we've formed with Rusk.

I was charge $1400 to have my sump pump replaced (a 20 min job). When the technician was at my…read morehouse he mentioned the total charge as I had not received a quote from the company. I commented that $1400 seemed pretty high. He pulled up the cost of the sump pump on his device. The sump pump the technician installed was $350. He said that if I provided my own pump I would be charged $600 to have them come out and install it. So, my question was, what are the additional $450 for? I am ok paying it, if I know what I'm paying for, but the information from the technician just wasn't adding up to the full charge. I reached out to Five Star to ask for an invoice. It came with a one line summary of the total cost of the work. I asked if they could please send an itemized invoice and explained the reasons I just mentioned above. After a bit of insisting, they forwarded my request to the manager. This was his response: ---- Hi Veronica My name is Garrett and I am reaching out to you regarding a sump pump we did for you on Sunday. I understand there was some confusion about the charges, I am here to help! So as far as a full breakdown goes, We pay around $350 -$400 for the sump pumps, and labor comes in right around $600. The remainder of the charge goes towards our 1 year workmanship warranty, administrative tasks such as tracking, scheduling and being a support system here for you if anything were to happen with it. We stand behind our work 100%. All of our pricing is flat rate, so breaking it down can be challenging in the sense of the charge does not change if we ended up taking longer to install the pump for you. We do it this way for the customer experience, as some plumbing companies do charge per half hour or hour, and can exploit the consumer by 'taking their time' so to speak to run up the bill. We always try to be transparent with our pricing, and just know that we are here to stand behind the workmanship and product we installed for you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Best, Garrett Sowers Customer Relations Specialist Five Star Home Services (614) 245-3954 garrett.sowers@fivestargroup.com ---- My response to his: You charge $400 for a one-year workmanship warranty??? That is literally the cost of a brand new pump!! I'm not sure how that doesn't sound ridiculous to you! I also pay the $40 monthly "membership" but there doesn't seem to be much benefit in that either. It just seems unusual that a company refuses to provide an itemized invoice for work performed. I am sure that if you had work done by anyone, you would hope to be able to see what you are being charged for. I need my heating and air unit replaced but I am very glad I had the sump pump experience first. There is absolutely no way I will have Five Star do any other work for me, especially not a high dollar repair! I will find another company that is honest and isn't so hesitant, or flat out refuse, to provide an itemized invoice. It's just a disappointment.
