My elderly mother-in-law called for service on her refrigerator. She gave the scheduling secretary the make and model of the refrigerator and told her the refrigerator was icing up. When the technician arrived, she pulled the refrigerator out, and attempted to take back off, which was frozen to the refrigerator. She then said that they can't get parts for that make and model refrigerator, anyway, and can't fix the frost problem, but she still charged for the call. When I messaged the shop's Facebook page asking why they didn't tell the truth about not being able to fix a defrost problem (they knew the problem, the make, and model prior to the appointment), the owner of the shop blocked me, so my husband called and asked that the owner call him, but we haven't heard back. We had a bad experience with Niceley's. Within minutes after our technician arrived, he was determined to make several sexist and degrading comments and passing them off as a joke. We contacted Niceley's who also played it off as though our technician was just having fun. However, we made it clear right away to the technician that his comments weren't welcome, yet he continued to make the comments again. He was condescending and rude, and if he had been in our home any longer, he would've been asked to leave. We were still charged for this 5 minute visit and we're disappointed in how Niceley's handled this situation. read more

Our Microwave keypad was showing it had shorted out. After a 4 or 5 day wait a technician came out and he was nice but all he did was plug and unplug it which I had already done. It's an older microwave so we weren't surprised to hear it's discontinued and can't be repaired. We paid almost $100 service fee. However we have a Hone Warranty and asked Nicely's to communicate to the warranty company what was wrong and why it couldn't be fixed. They refused to call them or to complete the few questions sent on an email. Finally the warranty company called Nicely's and talked to Bill. He answered some questions but refused to answer all of them. Bill had told me on the phone that he might talk to them if they called if he wasn't busy. At this point our claim is not approved and we will have to another company to come and look at the microwave and pay another service fee. I am truly speechless and shocked with my first and last experience with this horrible business. I always try to support local small businesses and I'm appalled with how we've been treated. We had our dishwasher evaluated, was told it was the spray arm (this was a very easy repair and we replaced it ourselves for $30 the next day). The technician then said that our type of dishwasher was known for bad sensors and asked if we wanted him to look at it, which we said sure. A red flag went up when he said they actually carried them on the truck. The sensor was fine and when he replaced the sensor a piece of it broke off. And this is what proceeded to happen afterwards: I was called the following day with a quote to replace the spray arm and sensor for just under $300. When I explained that they are responsible for replacing the sensor they said they weren't. And I quote, "it wasn't intentional." I really can't believe I'm typing this! I then called back and talked to Bill - who is very rude and condescending. He told me that upper management would be in contact with me - never heard from said upper management. Had to call again, a week later, and after he interrupted me multiple times, I was told again it wasn't their fault. I encourage anyone considering Nicely's to find another appliance repair business! They knew that our repair was inexpensive and tried to sell us an expensive sensor which we didn't need. I cannot believe how I was treated and talked to. Niceley's Appliance Repair is awesome. I needed to replace springs in my dishwasher and went to their store. They did not stock the springs I needed however they were willing to order them. I explained I had already pulled out the dishwasher so they offered the suggestion that I try a competitor. No luck at the competitor so I returned to Niceley's to have them order the springs. They contacted me the next morning saying the springs had arrived. It was a good experience from the time I entered the shop, I was immediately greeted and assisted. The team was friendly, engaged and professional. I highly recommend them and would not hesitate to return there for parts or service. read more

I had a HORRIBLE experience with Niceley's. The character limitations do not allow me my full course of expression so I'll just tell you that you should look elsewhere for appliance repair, unless you enjoy terrible customer service and being gaslighted (gas lit?) by someone named Jeff. Of the 3 people I dealt with, one was evasive and lied by omission. The other was rude and seemed to take pride in her unwillingness to provide assistance. Then there is Jeff. I've met convicts with more integrity. Let's just say he's not doing this company any favors by talking to customers who are already upset. He makes it ten thousand times worse as soon as he opens his mouth. They need to find someone better than Jeff (and better than the woman who answers the phone and doesn't give a flying f about your problem) to handle their dissatisfied customers. Their lack of communication and failure/refusal to take any responsibility for their missteps has resulted in wasted time and money. I left a review on their FB page last night. When you select "do not recommend" you are given the option to leave feedback of 25 characters or less. My review simply said "Just don't. They're awful." It turns out Niceley's Appliance Repair is the kind of place that deletes negative reviews and blocks negative reviewers from their page. That kinda tells you everything you need to know about how they operate as a company. And this explains why their FB rating is pretty high while the majority of their yelp reviews are 1 star. I never write complaints about businesses and try to give others the benefit of the doubt. However, I'm disgusted with my experience with Niceley Appliance Repair. We have a refrigerator that is no longer cooling well. The first technician said it was a gasket issue, and would have to order the parts. Two days later, another technician put them on, and the following day, the refrigerator wasn't cooling any better. The technician came back and wasn't really sure what the issue was (could be a fan, could be a board), but since we already spent $600, he recommended to just get a new refrigerator. During one of our many calls to their offices, the associate there said they could just take the parts off and refund the money for the parts. However, today, the technician said they would not be doing that and no other adjustments would be made. Their offer was to put a fan on, which they would cover, but no one is really convinced that is the issue. The bottom line with used appliances is the customer expects the problem to be solved when spending more than $500. We would have been completely happy if they would have told us in the beginning, "we don't know what the issue could be, and you are better off buying new". But, I suppose they just want to sell parts to jack up the price. The manager at the office wasn't willing to entertain any reduction in costs, even though they didn't fix the issue AND they weren't completely confident they knew what the issue was. The absolute worst customer service experience I've ever had with a locally owned business. They love replacing your system, but then leave you high and dry when there is a warranty issue. They literally told me to find someone else to do the warranty work as I had left them due to their poor customer service. They got their commission, now they're done. GE refrigerator repair - 4/22 tech came out and diagnosed the issue as an inlet valve. I was charged $167.39 for the part (it's $84.11 on GE's website) and a total of $284.34 labor. It took them 2 whole days just to *order* the part. It wasn't until 5/1 (9 days) that they actually showed up to install it. Was told to wait 24-36 hours and I should have ice. I didn't. Wrong part. 5/6 (another 5 days) tech came back out, said I needed a different part ($95.00 charge for the part that costs $77 on Amazon). Part was supposed to arrive on 5/9 and get installed on 5/10. Didn't happen. I was told they didn't get the part (that's another 4 days wasted). I complained to Bill that I could see the part on Amazon and I could get it the next day. Bill said that isn't where they get their parts and I need to stop using profanity. Bill hung up on me. I've spent $473.17, waited patiently for weeks and they're going to want $95 more for a $77 part. I've already waited 3 weeks and I'm being told they can't get here any sooner. (the part was on Amazon for NEXT DAY delivery!) This organization treats you as though you should feel privileged that they let you do business with them. Be prepared to pay through the nose and wait until they get around to you. No idea how they're still in business in the age of the internet. read more

I've only been there once. I called ahead to see if they had a part for my refrigerator in stock. They did, and they quoted me a price that was comparable to had I ordered it online. When I went to pick it up an hour later, sure enough it was right behind the counter. Easy Peasy. Adding their info to my phone. I try to fix my own appliances if at all possible. Had dryer vents cleaned yesterday. One was a long hose, the other was only about a foot long and technician reached in with his hand and was done in 5 minutes. He said there was very little to remove. The other vent required a shop vac and long hose because the vent hose was longer. Two guys were here for less than 1 hour. Again, tech reported that very little was cleaned from the vent. OK. Thanks. I at least know for sure for safety reasons the vents are clear. Guys were polite. They also had to turn off water behind the units downstairs to clean the vent. Failed to turn it back on before leaving which I realized today. No water. OK. I can live with that and can get someone here to pull out the washer and dryer units to turn water back on. Reason for 2 stars is that the charge for all this was $368.00! This company is located less than 1 mile from my home so couldn't have been transportation charges costing so much. I felt absolutely foolish and will never use this company again. I have attempted stop payment on my check awaiting some communication from the owner. Local KY average for this service is usually $75-$100 per vent. I had no clue that a local, family owned company would take advantage to the tune of $368.00! The technicians were young men who I am sure had no say over the pricing. We had a tech out a couple months ago to look at our heat pump because last year it had stopped working when it got really cold out. The thermostat would show it was only 60 degrees in here when it was really cold out even though we had it set to 68. The tech that came out told us we wired our nest wrong, and he "fixed" it. For a while everything was fine, but then once it really started getting cold outside, our nest started dying and needing to be taken off of the wall and hooked up to be charged for a while before it would work again (meaning our heat wasn't running at all because our thermostat stopped working entirely). We called google nest support, and after some troubleshooting they determined the issue was that we didn't have a c (common) wire hooked up to the nest. The tech moved the common wire to the * spot on the nest instead of the spot where the common wire goes. I don't know if this was what they were supposed to do or not, but if it is they should have informed us that when it started to get really cold our thermostat wouldn't work like that, especially since we have a one year old. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but I even called Nicely's to see if someone would come back out and fix it and run a new C wire if need be, and the woman on the phone said they won't do that because they consider it finishing the installation of the Nest. So basically they made it so that our thermostat doesn't work at all if it gets too cold outside since our auxiliary heat requires to much energy to run the Nest without a c wire, even though my husband said the guy who came out to look at it had a badge that said he was certified to work on the Nest. We have dealt with Nicely's for years with good service and reasonable prices. No More. They installed an Armstrong Heat and AC Unit about 3 years ago. We've had noise issues with the outside unit since the installation and we asked them about it every time they came out for the semi annual cleaning. Two weeks ago the entire unit went out and they said we needed a new part that was covered by the warranty but the cost to install the new part would be $700 dollars because it was a four hour job. The repIr tech was here 2 and 1/2 hours and during that time also performed the semi annual cleaning which usually takes 45 minutes. We had to pay for the cleaning of $88 plus the full $700 repair cost for two and 1/2 hours of service.. That comes to $315 per hour.. we felt that was excessive and was told "we quote our repairs based on the job and not how long they actually take." We'll no longer be dealing with Nicely's! read more

I have only used Niceley's on 2 occasions, but both times were excellent. One was a new A/C installation with one of their Maytag brand units. Had no idea Maytag made an A/C unit, but it looks great and has performed well for 1 year now. Second time using them was for maintenance to a Whirlpool refrigerator. This one was even better. Only charged the show up fee as the problem was diagnosed as having been a minor manufacturer error. A loose wire in the freezer was preventing proper defrost cycles. Fixed the problem, but didn't charge anything for the trouble. (Didn't buy this unit from Niceley's and it was not under warranty) I have also trusted this companies advice for other contractors and have been very pleased with their recommendation. read more

Do NOT deal with these people!!! Our refrigerator was too cold, but it was working. We called to have a technician come out to see why it was so cold. He didn't even want to look at the refrigerator and when told him, no, we called you, please see what is wrong with it, then he finally looked at it. He told us we needed a new "control", then he left and said if its still too cold after summer starts, then call and we will fix it. Fast forward a couple hours...... now the refrigerator does not work AT ALL!!! I called and talked to the "manager" Jeff. I told him I wanted my money back and he laughed at me and told me if your refrigerator was working in the first place you wouldn't have called us. We have been customers of Nicelys since 1996. We have always been satisfied with the level of service we received, until this week. Last Thursday we had our air conditioner tuned up and paid $88 for that service. Friday night it quit working. We didn't have any air conditioning at a hot house till Tuesday. They then came out and fixed it as it was short of air conditioning fluid and we paid $400 for that recharge. I asked nicelys to refund me the $88 since the tune-up did not go as it should have and we were inconvenienced for 5 days not having an air conditioned house when we had company. The owner flat out refused and said " that's not going to happen" . I was struck by his arrogance and unwillingness to work with his loyal customers. It wasn't that many years ago we spent $10,000 on an air conditioning and a furnace and never mind all the money we spent on dishwasher repair, washer repair, dryer repair etc and they would not refund $88?Even a layman can see they did not do the tune up correctly, and, they refused to stand behind their work. Unfortunately the owner is someone who has been in the field most of his years and is not a businessman. The most basic tenets of customer service is, the customer always gets the last laugh. So yes we lost $88 here. But do you think we'll spend another 9 or $10,000 when our Air Conditioning and furnace needs to be replaced in a few years? They know this and simply did not care. Clearly the company is not the same company it was in years past. If they'll screw a loyal customer out of $88 what will they do to the next person since customer service is not a high priority. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! - (It's long) - {Call Plumb Tite instead} To make sure it was done right and with quality parts, I called a plumber to hook up my ice maker water line to my new fridge/freezer. Sure Best Buy could do it for $135, but they would just unroll some copper tubing and put on a saddle valve (which has to be cleaned out every 2 years and dissolves in 8-10.) I paid Niceley's $59 to come out for the estimate. After some measuring and agreeing that I would unhook and move the dishwasher, the estimate came 3 days later: $349 and 2 hours of work. Counting on a professional install with actual plumbing (IE not a saddle valve), I scheduled the appointment. BTW - This was a 20 foot job fairly straight forward. Soldering the valve under the sink was the hard part. Apparently Niceley's niceties were over: =^( (For the record I am not a yeller. I have worked in retail for half my life and know how to get my point across to an angry customer civilly.) 1 - A 1/2 HOUR LATE! My day was booked solid. I moved the dishwasher and checked how much time I had left before my next appointment. He was a 1/2 hour late, "Well, it says here that I'm supposed to be here at..... oh, sorry about that." he says. I told him we had to reschedule since I didn't have time to stay at the house for the 2 hours. He looked at my planner and was amazed how busy I was and said, "Wow you are busy. We can get it done quick." Solution: My Mother-In-Law said she would stay home while he worked. 2 - A SADDLE VALVE (instead of a soldered on valve)! Before he got started I noticed he had a saddle valve and 2 rolls of copper tubing. I was visibly unhappy and told him I was under the impression he was going to install a permanent valve for $349. "I'm sorry you thought that. We don't spec out every part and nail. The entire job is $349" (I assumed that calling a plumber there would be some actual plumbing done. I could have called Best Buy for a saddle valve install, for only $135!) 3 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #1 "Go ahead and do it." I finally told him. My day was packed, my kitchen was disassembled, I needed it done. Was I happy? No. Was there going to be a permanent valve? No. Was I paying $200 more for the same thing from Best Buy? Yes. But, it had to be done today. "Go ahead and do it." I said. "You don't seem happy. I need to make a call." and the service guy walked away to the other room and called the office. 4 - "WE COULD BE ON ANOTHER JOB. OUR TIME IS VALUABLE." - RUDENESS The service guy started to tell me how valuable his time was and how he could be on another job. I told him to stop. My time is also valuable and in fact I just told him to do the job, which is more than I want to pay. Therefore, my time is more valuable than his. Also he saw my schedule and was amazed how packed it was. NEVER tell a customer how "valuable" your time is. Incredibly rude! 5 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #2 - AND HE WALKED OUT THE DOOR! Again I told him to "just go ahead and do the job." I didn't have time. He said I wasn't happy and we will have to reschedule AND HE WALKED OUT THE DOOR! He got in his truck and drove away! 6 - RUDE OFFICE! - WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE OWNER'S NAME! I called Niceley's office to complain that the service man just walked out. The lady at the front desk was rude. I asked to speak with the owner and she told me he wasn't in. Me: "When will he be in?" Her: "I don't know." Me: "What's the owner's name?" Her: "Give me your name and number and I'll have him give you a call." She WOULD NOT GIVE ME THE OWNER'S NAME! No matter how many times I asked. (By the way his name is Steve. It's on their website. This just makes customers mad! Always give the higher up's name if asked. It gives you more credibility!) RESOLUTION: Hired 'PLUMB TITE'! and got an ESTIMATE REFUND! A - I called 'Plumb Tite' within the hour. They came out that afternoon, waived the estimate fee, gave me a price of $210 with soldered on valve under the sink. I said, "Do it." The Plumb Tite service man got the parts from his truck and did it right then! And it was done in an hour and twenty minutes. YEAH Plumb Tite! =^) B - I went to Niceley's to get my $59 back from the estimate. "We don't refund estimates." Me: "Is Steve, the owner, in?" "No." Me: "Do you know when he will be in?" "No, but I can have him give you a call." When I mentioned how the service man REFUSED to do the work after I gave him permission to do it two times, that was a breach of contract. I finally got my check for the $59 estimate refund. CONCLUSION on Niceley's: 1 - A HALF HOUR LATE! 2 - A SADDLE VALVE! (instead of a soldered on valve) 3 - REFUSAL OF SERVICE #1 4 - "WE COULD BE ON ANOTHER JOB. We have used Niceley's for years and always been pleased with their honesty and professionalism. Steve, their senior technician, has taken care of everything from AC/Heat unit, washing machine, and now repairing our oven that I destroyed using the self-cleaning feature (note: never use that feature!) and we have always been satisfied customers. When our water heater needed repairing they gave us an excellent reference since they no longer work on those. We call Niceley's first every time and will continue to call them in the future. read more

I recently had a Whirlpool Refrigerator that quit cooling. I contacted Nicely Appliance Repair on a Saturday evening, when the office was closed for the weekend. I left a message and they called me back promptly on Monday morning. The Technician who came to the house was knowledgeable and friendly. He diagnosed and did the repair quickly, in under 10 minutes. My issue is with the price I was charged. $306 for a starter device that I later found costs around $15, at the most. It took the Technician less than 10 minutes from start to end. A repair like this (Starter Device replacement), I later found out, costs a total of less than $100. I was charged three times the normal amount. The invoice I received has no itemized description such as parts, labor, etc. I learned that next time I have a repair, to do my research before hand, on what is a reasonable and approximate repair cost. read more

Just found out that Nicely's did not register my warranty with Maytag when I purchased a new furnace and heat pump. Worse product I ever purchased in 2009. Warranty was for 12 years. Now i find out i have no warranty. After it was installed i had to call them several times because to come as it would stop running. Would not recommed them or the Maytag furnace. read more

Did not inform me of $69 fee for diagnosis before the fact and then you can't get a quote if you don't do it even though we knew exactly what the problem was and the tech was there for 2 minutes and agreed. Quote was $400 to fix the seal on a washer. The part is only $65. Tried to imply that I should've known to ask about the diagnostic fee and the lady on the phone insisted she told me. My experience with nicely was terrible, they sold me on the"warranty" but refuse to live up to their end.there's all kinds of hidden fees if you can even get them to come back to work on the piece of junk Maytag unit. The attitude with the entire family is terrible, once they lock down the sale they treat their customers terrible. I've come to find out that I overpaid for my furnace and air conditioner and was fed nothing but lies. Shop around, call the bigger companies, you'll get a much better deal. These Maytag units come with a amazing warranty because you will need it, too bad you can't get nicely to live up to it. Niceleys installed our furnace and air conditioning at a cost of 7000. Duke has since red tagged our furnace because they used a flexible pipe instead of doing the job right. Noone wants to resolve this issue. When I talked to Jeff on the phone he tried to convince me that is was Dukes problem and not theirs. Now my gas is turned off and I have no hot water and they say they cannot get here for four days!! Never mind, I called someone else at my expense but they will never do anything else for me! I called Niceley's for a repair on my refrigerator. The man came out, looked at the refrigerator, ordered the part, 2wks it took for him to come back to complete the repair (I did call around New Year's Eve, however I know it doesn't take that long for a part to come in) When he came back, he stated something under the kitchen sink was broken, that my insulation needed replaced. My husband asked "Would all this be included in the $300 price", the man said "NO" this would be above that, not to mention, he had to come back again because he didn't have the correct part. I called Niceley the same day and said jus to forget it, I needed my refrigerator repaired now and I don't think I should have to wait again for the man to come back.
