I left Dr. Rizzo's office. They couldn't have been ruder to me. I did not see the doctor because when I got there I gave the receptionist my insurance information and signed the papers. She then said you have a $20.00 copay. I wrote a check and gave it to her. This was before I even saw the doctor.
A minute or so later she came out and said we can't accept this check. Oh... I said, I don't have cash. She said okay I'll check with my manager. A minute later the manager came and said we can't accept this check. If you don't pay us you can't see the doctor. You will not see the doctor until you pay. I said I don't have cash. She was aggressive and demanding. I said I don't know why you are being rude to me but I've waited a month for this appointment and now your saying I can't see the doctor because of the $20 copay being paid with a check? No where was this notated on their paperwork or anywhere else.
I have many health issues and have worked with many doctors offices before. I've never been talked to like this.. I don't appreciate being threatened. I have every intention of filing a complaint with the BBB.
Some other things that I noticed that bothered me was their medication policy.
1. For maintance medications (blood pressure, thyroid etc.) they will only refill for 3 months and then make you come in for an appointment. I've never heard of this... usually it's 9 months to a year.
2. The doctor will not refill on holidays or weekends.
3. No antibiotics over the phone. What if your traveling ? Or can't get an appointment?
Honestly, the doctor may be great but I don't want to deal with terrible receptionists and office managers first before I even get into the appointment. This whole experience upset me very much. I was treated like garbage. read more
