    Smoked pork chop sandwich

I ordered the fish sandwich and pork chop sandwich. The pork chop is smoked with an awesome taste. Love the fish sandwich. Both are always great. When

Might be the 1st time in my life I didn't finish a burger...wayyyyy too much liquid smoke flavor, so it builds up on ya. It was actually a delicious big juicy burger up to the point where I just couldn't take the smoke flavor anymore. I will definitely try again if I could get without liquid smoke in the meat. Had the fries & they were just ok, thick but too soggy and cobbler was tasty, but way too small a portion for $4. I will hit them up again soon to try more things on the menu!

Went there and asked for a six piece wing and when I got my food they have broken three wings in half and they tell you that it's drumettes for $11 with some soggy fries worst chicken ever no seasoning could not stand to eat it

The burger that they have to offer here at The Nickel Sandwich Grill is one of those burgers that tasted like it had been cooked at one of your neighbor's backyard BBQ party. What you get for $5.75 is a huge burger that will sure to fill you up for the rest of the day with a smoky flavor that totally adds to the home-cooked feel. For an extra couple of bucks, you get a delicious side order of fries. I really enjoyed my burger because of the smokiness although I did think that it was a little bit overcooked (too dry) for me. I totally forgot to ask if they would have cooked my burger to medium (my preference) instead of well done. I personally think I would have enjoyed my burger a little bit more had it been cooked medium. I thoroughly enjoyed the fries because they were awesomely delicious. However, I do enjoy my fries crispy and the fries that they had to offer here were the soggy kind. And, just like the burger, if they had offered crispy fries instead of soggy fries, I would have enjoyed them more. Their lemonade was pretty damn good too! As everyone else has mentioned, this place is totally unassuming. You place your order through a tiny window facing the parking lot. There is a small enclosed dining area next to the building, but there is no air conditioning, just a ceiling fan. I would assume that it could get pretty warm in there in the summertime. However, during my dining experience here, it looked like most people who came here ordered to go. The burger that you get for the price that you pay is totally worth the money. If you're looking for a burger that tastes like it was cooked in your own backyard, then this is definitely a place you should pay a visit.

My partner wanted to grab lunch here so we tried for the first time this place. We got a simple sandwich and elote which the staff said it should take 15-20 mins. We waited and waited it past 40+ mins and I went to ask. - First was that they lost our order number and they couldn't find it. - Second the manager began to say our order was taken by someone else and then that my partner grabbed it. Switching her words back and forth and not believing what we had said. I asked how did we grab our stuff if I still have the device to notify when our food is ready. - Third she completely stopped talking to us and went to go help at other customers. I told her we want our money back and she said, "well I'm not going to refund for the drinks you had". Ma'am, that's not how you run a business. Just admit you messed up and take ownership of your mistakes to help a customer out. - Fourth she mentioned that other tickets have been lost today and other foods have been stolen before. This just shows how disorganized this placed is. We were able to ask for our money back but it was a battle about it. I was disappointed because we wanted to support your business but at this service? Heck no! Do not come here. And from reading other reviews now we did not miss on the food.

This is the one and only location here and a great stop for all kinds of sandwiches. Their menu includes innovative offerings and iconic flavors, essentially the best of both worlds. If you're craving a classic or simple sandwich, you can get that. However, if you're looking for something special or out of this world, you can also get it. Ike's specializes in sandwiches with their Dutch Crunch bread and Dirty Sauce, both unique in its own way. Whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, vegan, or on a gluten-free diet, their menu has it all. I personally am not a super fan of the Dutch Crunch bread since I find it a bit too harsh on the palate and somewhat dry, but love the Dirty Sauce (make it extra or on the side). I enjoy subbing the Dutch Crunch with either French or Sourdough. With over 300 unique sandwiches on the menu, there's a sandwich for everyone. My favorites have been the Menage A Trois (halal chicken, honey mustard, BBQ Sauce, real honey, pepper jack, swiss, cheddar), Ike's Reuben (pastrami, mack Sauce, purple slaw, gouda), Joker (all beef meatballs, fried zucchini, Ike's red pesto, ranch), and Grant Pinkerton, a Houston exclusive (Pinkerton Brisket, pastrami, BBQ aioli, provolone). All of my sandwiches have been stuffed and tasty, worth it! However, I find some menu items to be subpar in quality and flavor (chicken strips). The service is typically quick, efficient, and friendly. There are more than a handful of tables inside and some out on the patio. The shared parking lot can get very crowded as it is packed with lots of other businesses.

Honestly, in the beginning it was pretty rough, slow service, incorrect orders, and the sandwiches just weren't as good as what I was used to getting in California. That said, I kept coming back every now and then hoping things would improve, and I'm glad I did. My last few visits have been great. The sandwiches have been fresh and really tasty, and the customer service has been solid. I also spoke with Jose, and he mentioned he's been working hard to turn things around, and it definitely shows. Not sure why they don't have more locations yet, but I hope they expand soon!

I love how many options they have here, you can't really go wrong with anything in my experience. I like to come for lunch, for some reason the food hits different in the daytime compared to the evening. My favorite sauces are the jalapeno cilantro ranch and the sweet chili. The jalapeno cilantro ranch is savory and sweet chili is very sweet for sure, it's almost like a sweet and sour sauce. The jalapeno cilantro almost tastes like green sauce from a Mexican restaurant. I think the jalapeno cilantro ranch is my favorite but it really depends on your preference. Expect to pay around 12-17 dollars per order, I know that seems a little pricey for lunch but the quality of ingredients makes it worthwhile. Roostar has indoor and outdoor seating, and they also have a to go window where you can ring the doorbell and skip the wait from outside. I love that feature for when I need to grab a quick bite between meetings. Roostar also serves alcohol for those interested but I haven't spent a ton of time sitting inside. I think Roostar is definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for a solid casual meal with nutritious ingredients.

Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
