This place is right around the corner from All-Star Star Village - Cooperstown. We enjoyed coming here on one of our last days of the trip. The food is really good and they serve breakfast all day long and that is what most of is got. My Hungry Man Dish was a good one with pancakes, couple of eggs, ham, sausage, bacon and potatoes. My son got the chicken fingers, but he unfortunately did not like/eat much of them :( They also have PEPSI products, which is the norm up in these parts. It is hard to find Coke products here in New York! Service was pretty good as well. We had to find our waitress to get our refills a couple times. Ambiance had the upper walls decorated with trading baseball pins. Parking lot set up backwards, with the to go Parking further than indoor dining parking. Western burger and Nick's burger were huge and delicious and could fill up lumber jack. We tried cheese curds with Chipotle sauce and giant onion rings with barbecue sauce and both were the best you have ever tried. My wife and I started going to Nick's almost two years ago, simply because we heard they had a well-liked breakfast hash. We've gone back many times since, always for breakfast, and have never been disappointed in the food or the service, both of which are generous and well-polished. The portions are very large (by my standards) and I enjoy having leftovers at home.. considering I normally get two meals' worth of food from each visit, it's pretty economical for me. Nick's diner is the most friendly and accommodating place in Oneonta. We went in 30 minutes before closing and everybody was more than accommodating. The general manager was friendly and said I'll get you food if you come in five minutes before closing. One minute I might turn you away. He traded pins with the kids and the food was great. My ham sandwich was badly burned, but I think I came at the end of the day and there were numerous tables dining inside and out. Happy waitress. Chefs talking liquor in the very tight kitchen. Half way through my cup of coffee realizing my cup was dirty! Not just a little dirty like make me want to vomit dirty. Really good Dinner food!! They cover everything. From pizza to breakfast all day. No problem parking.

We took our whole baseball team here, we also came back a second time. I got the gluten free Rueben, yummy. Whatever the heaven that gluten free bread is the best I have ever had. The French toast looked dreamy and everyone raved about it! The second time I got breakfast and it was also yummy. Going with a crowd you will always overwhelm the kitchen, have patience and they get the food out as fast as they can. It's worth a few extra minutes of waiting! I will start this, as I always do by saying that I do not give out five stars, unless I am really blown away. This diner was very nice on the inside it seemed rather small outside, but it was decently large. The waiter was busing tables in the only waiter in the place he had a lot of tables and did his best to take care of everyone. He was a very good server. The food was OK nothing to write home about. We got the appetizer platter which came with onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and a couple other things. I wasn't expecting much as it's just fried food. I also had a Ruben that was pretty good, but it didn't blow my mind. I will definitely eat here again and give it another try as I saw some other food that came out that looked really good. In town for CASV and decided to give Nicks a try. Not going to lie the yelp reviews did scare me a bit. But I do like to be my own judge so I decided whatever what's the worst that can happen. Glad we tried it because we LOVED Nicks! We went three times in the week that we visited. The burgers and sandwich I had were so good. No one in my party had a complaint. We were there with a very large group of children and parents. Nick's diner probably doesn't get a full house in the early morning on a weekday since there was only one waiter and one chef working. I just want to say thank you for taking care of us. I know it is really difficult to accommodate a party of 30+ people at one time. We really appreciate your service. Now the food. This is what we ordered! Country Fried Steak - The dish came with a steak, scrambled eggs (my choice), biscuits, potatoes, and sausages. The beef had a nice layer of breadcrumb. It had a nice crunchy texture on the outside and tender on the inside. The beef was so tender that I could cut it with a butter knife. The sausage, I've never had a breakfast sausage like this before. It was juicy and flavorful. The biscuit was airy and fluffy. The real star of this dish was the gravy. It was rich, creamy, and aromatic but not overwhelming the base flavor. It complimented the beef and biscuit really well while elevating the entire dish. French Toast Platter - It came with french toasts, scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausages. I love the french toast here. It was thick but fluffy. It was custardy on the inside with buttery crispy edges. Personally, I didn't even need syrup! Again, props to the waiter who was taking orders, running the food, providing service and props to the chef who was preparing the food all by themselves. We really appreciated it! The only problem is when you go to order wings you can expect to only get one order of wings because they give out your order to the quickest DoorDash member As well as charge you an eat in tax for pick up 3$ so I'm very disappointed with the service here this has happened to me on more than one occasion and I have not been reimbursed for ANYTHING my credit card has also been used for tips from here. Nick's is my go-to Diner; the food is solid and the service is good. Of the dozens of times there, I've had one messed up order and they promptly fixed it. What's driving down the rating for this place is "The Rude Owner". He's what's behind the vast majority of the 1-star reviews because he's salty and obviously can't handle idiots anymore. Wanna know what's on the menu? Read the menu. If there's no tables available, there will be a wait. Huffing and saying, "WhAt Do YoU MeAn 20 MiNuTeS????", he'll tell you to go to McDonalds. But, if you're not an insufferable rock-head and you can use deductive reasoning...SHOCKINGLY, the guy behind the wall and in the kitchen cooking wont leave the kitchen; so you wont have to deal with him. Brought my son for breakfast and sat at the bar. The manager or owner was sitting next to us and overheard him on the phone upset about losing a $3000.00 check. Then we heard him talking to his staff like a jerk. Staff was getting upset and he seemed to really not care. He walked away and then came back and sat back down next to us at the bar seats and started using voice to text on his phone. He was telling someone he wasn't going to tolerate that behavior especially after cleaning the floor "PERIOD". The staff was working their butts off waiting and missing and he just sat there the whole time as he proceeded to watch videos on his phone. Besides that, food was good service was great! Food could be a little hotter when served. I had biscuits and gravy and it was a little cold. I know some people like their food "HOT" so if you are one of those, keep that in mind.
