We came just to enjoy a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and everything about this place was amazing! The atmosphere was beautiful, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the margaritas were absolutely delicious. We shared the cheeseburger and the shrimp tacos, and both were outstanding. No complaints about the food at all it was fresh, flavorful, and definitely worth it. I would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be coming back. Thank you for making our weekend so enjoyable!

Went with a group for breakfast and to watch the World Cup morning game (if you're hoping to watch any games, sit at the counter). We ordered the fried chicken and waffles to share and found it easily fed three of us. We did have a reservation, so we were sat quickly. If you don't have a reservation, the bar is always a quick option for one or a pair of people. The waiter kindly suggested to pair the coffee with carrot breakfast muffins. This is a must try!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. We've been coming here for many years. The asparagus fries is never to be missed the artichoke and the deviled eggs are highly recommended appetizers. My favorite dish was the Chilean Seabass cooked the perfection served with mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach the fried chicken dish is also excellent and large portion that could easily be shared. However, I must mention that this time the seasoning on the crust was a little bit on the salty side, the chicken itself was moist and perfectly cooked. Service is excellent, and the decoration is in good taste. The interior is a bit loud.

We stopped into Nick's in Laguna Beach specifically for their legendary butter cake, and let me tell you. if you haven't tried this dessert yet, your life is tragically incomplete. You're basically just going through the motions, my friend. We paired it with their ice cream fudge sundae, and we could not have been happier with our decision. The moment that warm butter cake hits the table, pure joy consumes your soul. Anticipation builds like you're about to open the best gift ever. The only logical response is to grab a spoon (yes, a spoon because a for would be a travesty of a mistake) because you need the perfect ratio of buttery cake, berry compote, and ice cream in every single bite. You carve that first perfect scoop, lift it toward your mouth, and suddenly your taste buds are doing an Olympic-level gymnastics routine--sticking the landing with a gold medal performance. It's a holy, almost spiritual experience you desperately hope never ends. By the final bite, you're slumped back in your seat, practically begging for a belly rub like a satisfied golden retriever, whispering a quiet prayer that this isn't the last time you'll experience this life-changing dessert. Ps. The service is amazing and the vibe is perfect for a date, a night with friends, or a celebration.

Yesterday we came back to Nick's for an anniversary celebration for my brother-in-law and his wife 47 year we have the bistro dinner. It was wonderful this time we had French creamy onion soup. It was unbelievably delicious. The service was excellent just love the atmosphere in the restaurant. Another great time there thanks again, Nick.!!!

NICK'S @ LAGUNA BEACH Nick's Laguna Beach is located right on Main Street in downtown Laguna Beach, so parking can definitely be a challenge. There's a lot of traffic in the area, especially during peak hours. Luckily, we were able to find street parking about 15 minutes up the road, which wasn't too bad, but it's something to keep in mind if you're planning to visit. I've been to Nick's in Carlsbad and San Clemente before, so I was really excited to finally check out the Laguna Beach location. The menu is exactly the same as the other locations. My boyfriend and I actually came on Valentine's Day without a reservation, we originally planned to go somewhere else, but when we passed by and saw Nick's, I knew I wanted to try it. They had no reservations available (which was totally understandable given how busy it was), so we put our names down for the walk-in waitlist around 4 PM. They ended up calling us at 5:30 PM, which was perfect prime dinner time. There was a huge line out the door, and the restaurant itself is very small. Once you walk in, it feels extremely tight, tables are tiny and everyone is seated very close to each other. Despite the crowd, we ordered a few entrées: my boyfriend got the chicken piccata, and I ordered the cheeseburger along with the spicy Asian salad. Everything was really delicious. I absolutely loved the salad it was refreshing, flavorful, and the noodles paired perfectly with it. The chicken piccata was also very good, especially with the lemon flavor. The cheeseburger was decent not mind-blowing and a bit on the bland side but it still did the job. Since it was Valentine's weekend, the restaurant felt very crowded and a bit rushed. I think visiting on a weekday or any less busy day would make for a much better experience. That said, the service was kind and friendly, the food was solid, and overall it was a great spot. I'd definitely recommend stopping by Nick's, either this location or any of their other ones.

Had the meatloaf for the very first time. Twas very good but I think i can only eat 3/4 and got full. Service was Mahvelous even at the bar area. And the place is small and cozy but do reserve to get a seat. Otherwise try your luck at the bar area. Verdict - good as always! Austen at the bar area has always delivered.

Nothing but amazing things to say about this place. The food, the service, absolutely out of this world. I highly recommend the deviled eggs, the San Francisco cioppino, and the butter cake... Delicious.!!!!

I love this restaurant. My wife and I got away for an anniversary dinner and Nick's always delivers. The staff are excellent, and the ambience is alive and fun. You can tell that the staff understand what it means to give good customer service and the food there is outstanding. Everything is great. We didn't have room for a butter cake, but the staff gave us a nice dessert as a surprise for our anniversary. They even gave us a little card and signed it. That was super nice.

My partner introduced me to Nick's and it's become a go to date night spot for us. Right by the main shops of Laguna, it's a small but stylish space serving some really tasty dishes. It's absolutely perfect for a date night, especially if you want to walk by the beach before or after your dinner. The cocktails, while none have ever truly stood out to me, are all pretty solid. As far as food goes, the crispy chicken sandwich is my personal favorite, but every entree I've had from Nick's has been great. The real star of the show is dessert here. The butter cake is a must. If you order one thing from Nick's it's gotta be the butter cake. It's served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and is moist, with the PERFECT flavor. We were going to order it our last visit, but they surprised us with an anniversary dessert, and we were just too full to eat anything else. Still the butter cake may be our favorite menu item and is worth a visit alone. Service wise Nick's mostly succeeds. Occasionally we've had a miss, but most of the time they're solid and we've never had a really bad experience. Stephanie, is one of our favorite servers! We've had her a few times and she's so friendly, and will definitely make sure you're taken care of. We'll definitely be back at Nick's in the future when we stop by Laguna.

My husband and I wanted a nice place to eat lunch while we were in town and this spot seemed highly rated. Making a reservation was definitely the right call and we were given a table on the patio. The servers were very professional and friendly. We decided to split a Prime Rib Dip and an Original Ribeye Melt. Surprisingly the Ribeye Melt was far superior with the combination of grilled Parmesan sourdough, Swiss cheese and ribeye really tasting great. I was a little disappointed in the Prime Rib Dip as it seemed a bit bland and the bread wasn't too exciting. Overall though it was a great meal in a nice spot. I'd love to go back and try other menu items.

I stumbled across Nick's Laguna Beach while walking around and noticed it had great reviews, which immediately made me curious. We walked in on a Sunday without a reservation and were seated right away, which was a great start. Our table was a very small booth right next to the center island bar, so things felt a bit compact, but the overall ambiance was lively and energetic. For a Sunday, the place was buzzing in a good way and definitely felt like a popular local spot. Our waitress was very nice and attentive throughout the meal, even with how busy and chaotic the restaurant felt. Service never slipped, which I really appreciated. The food itself was good and enjoyable, but nothing that really blew me away or made me think about coming back immediately just for a specific dish. One downside that oddly stood out to me was the lack of cell service or internet reception inside. It made the space feel a little boxed in, almost like you were cut off from the outside world, and for some reason that stuck with me more than I expected. Overall, it was a nice dinner with good energy and solid service. Chaotic, but in the best way possible. I'd come back if I were in the area again, but it's not a must return spot for me, which is why this lands comfortably at four stars.

    David M.

There are restaurants you try once, and restaurants you build rituals around. Nick's is the latter. From the moment you walk in, it feels dialed in. The energy is polished but relaxed, the service confident without hovering, and the food hits that rare balance of comfort and execution. The Fried Chicken and Gravy Mashed is reason enough to come back. Crispy, juicy, unapologetically indulgent, and deeply satisfying. There is never a bad time for Fried Chicken and Gravy Mashed, and Nick's proves that point every single visit. The menu is thoughtful, the cocktails are consistent, and the experience never slips. Whether it's a casual lunch, date night, or out of town guests you want to impress, Nick's delivers every time. Laguna Beach has plenty of options. This is the one you return to.

Ask the Community - Nick's Laguna Beach

    Do they take reservations?

Yes - I made mine on Open Table but they have a reservations tab on their website also.

    Is there a dress code?

No. It's by the beach. Casual but maybe not swim trunks.

Do you have a kids menu?

Yes. For breakfast they offer eggs and Belgium waffles from memory. For lunch and dinner they offer grilled cheese, steak, salmon, chicken tenders. All served with fries and carrot sticks.

    Is there a ocean view?

No. No views from restaurant but you can walk a block and see Sunset before dinner

Can we bring our own bottle of wine and do you have a cork fee?

    When is happy hour?

I don't think they have happy hour been there during the afternoons and early evenings.

    Can you order take out?

    Yes you can!

Is breakfast menu available all day?

    Saturday & Sunday only, 7:30am-11:30am

    Is this place Dog friendly?

    It is not

Is there a difference in the amount of soup you get from the starter order of soup vs bistro plate?

    Is there a corkage fee?

We are pleased to accommodate up three 750mL bottles of wine per party with a $15 corkage fee per bottle.

Hello Jennifer, We do not currently offer breakfast at Nick's Laguna Beach, but instead at South…

What is typical wait if you get there around 6:30pm, party of 2?

You will have at least 40-45 minutes wait but I always make a reservation!! Very important- there's very few tables & great food😊🌼👍

Are they open for dine in right now?

    Do they do unlimited mimosas?

    Nope

    How's the parking?

Parking is a little tough but there is a parking garage right behind Nick's that is walking distance. You should be able to find parking easily here, especially early-ish in the morning.

Do they have a Happy hour? It says so, but I can't find a menu or times...

They don't have a happy hour.

    When is happy hour?

The last time I was there during a typical Happy Hour time, the bartender said they didn't do HH. If that is still the case, I'm a little bummed, too, because I'm sure it would be amazing there.

Only tasted like a sweet and creamy cocktail. -Chilaquiles: Overall enjoyable. I liked the crispy chips. However, the servers forgot my eggs which was annoying, but they brought it out later with an additional egg. -Crispy Fried Calamari: Tasty and I liked the sauce. Calamari wasn't the greatest quality itself though. Service was pretty slow and the servers seemed to forget many details when taking orders which caused service delays wasn't optimal. The interior was decent and not dirty. For parking, there's a good amount located at and around the Pavilions parking lot. Overall, I probably wouldn't come back here again. It just seemed like a standard chain restaurant. It is located walking distance from the beach though.

We were seated at a beautiful balcony table overlooking the ocean, and the view created the perfect atmosphere for such an important milestone in our lives. The evening became even more remarkable when we had the unexpected opportunity to watch a SpaceX rocket launch from our table. Seeing it rise into the sky over the ocean while celebrating three decades of marriage was a once-in-a-lifetime moment that we will always remember. The food was excellent, and the clam chowder deserves special recognition. It was rich, flavorful, and easily the best clam chowder we can remember having. We have enjoyed plenty of chowder in New England over the years, and Driftwood Kitchen's version rivaled any of them. As wonderful as the food, view, and rocket launch were, the true highlight of our evening was Bianca W. She went far beyond what anyone would expect from a server. She was warm, attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely caring. Bianca treated us not simply as customers, but as people celebrating a meaningful chapter in our lives. Her kindness and personal attention made us feel truly valued and turned an already memorable dinner into an extraordinary anniversary experience. Exceptional service is always appreciated, but Bianca brought something even more meaningful: sincerity, warmth, and a genuine desire to make our evening special. Thank you, Driftwood Kitchen, and especially Bianca, for giving us a celebration we will treasure for years to come. We could not recommend this restaurant or Bianca more highly.

I am so profoundly disappointed in my experience at driftwood kitchen. I will start with the…read moreextremely few positives, the view is incredible and the young lady hosting was personable and helpful. She got us sat on the patio with a view promptly and with a smile. Now onto the rest of the experience! The website recommends arriving early to your reservation, which we did. Our reservation was for around 7 and we checked in at a little after 6:35. We were sat at approximately 6:50pm and proceeded to wait to be greeted for over 15 minutes (see timestamped photos below). This was frustrating as there didn't seem to be any reason why we were waiting so long. There were quite a few servers working, plenty of servers assistants helping out, and the restaurant wasn't huge (maybe 30-40 tables). As someone that works in the industry, there was no true reason for us to wait so long to be greeted and if there was, it should've been communicated. Once we were finally greeted, we immediately ordered two appetizers and told our server that we were still deciding on entrees. Our server did not return to check on us or grab entree orders until 5 minutes after our appetizers were delivered. By this point, it has been over 30 minutes since sitting down and our full order still isn't in. It almost felt like we were intentionally being neglected because we are young (gen z age) in a "fancier" restaurant and they assumed we would be difficult/not tip. Not that it matters, but my fellow diner and I make it a point to be especially kind and polite to service workers and almost always tip over 20% as we are service workers as well. The vibes were strange and continued to get worse as our experience continued. Luckily, all the food came out in a timely manner and we were so excited to dig in. I ordered the scallop meal which was delicious, but unfortunately, our other entree was fully inedible. We ordered the salmon and it came out raw!!! At first, we weren't sure if this was normal cook/preparation so we stopped eating it to wait and ask the server, but it took so long for us to be checked on again that we ended up eating the two fingerling potatoes it came with and letting the salmon sit and get cold. Thank goodness we stopped eating it because the server took the plate back to the kitchen and let us know that the chef agreed it was undercooked. Outside of the obvious issue of eating incorrectly prepared fish, their "solution" to the problem was to offer us 50% off the dish. I would understand this sentiment if we reordered a correctly cooked plate, but we sent it back and didn't ask for another. Also this place is advertised as FINE DINING! In what fine dining restaurant would you serve unsafe and improperly prepared food and not fully comp that plate?! I was shocked. I have never in my life done this before, but I asked my server if we could speak with the manager. He obliged, but with an attitude of "oh shocker these people are causing issues just like I assumed they would." Our server was never impolite, but he put no effort into serving us and seemed to expect the worst from us. This sentiment carried through to the manager as well. After briefly explaining the issue with the salmon, and choosing to omit our terrible serving experience, the manager did not even apologize. He quickly smiled and said "we will take it off," and immediately walked off. The interaction was strange and felt almost patronizing. After this, we quickly got the check and just left. My dining partner was stressed about eating the undercooked salmon and I felt incredibly uncomfortable and disappointed. Despite the subpar service and food issues, I still tipped my server over 20% to avoid being perceived as the "problem customer" that was being projected. I will warn any person that comes here that if you're not the target demographic, you will be neglected and left disappointed. MOST of the food here was actually lovely and the views were perfect, but that can't make up for the poor service and improperly prepared food. Dine with caution.

A quick tip before you go: parking is either available on the street (if you're lucky enough to find a spot) or through valet for $15. The restaurant is located inside the hotel, and once you enter you'll take the elevator down to Level 1, where you'll be greeted with beautiful ocean views. We had a reservation and were seated very quickly. While we waited for our table to be cleared, Ava, our host, was so sweet and personable. She took the time to chat with us, shared some of her favorite menu recommendations, and when she noticed us unsuccessfully trying to take a selfie overlooking the water, she kindly offered to take a photo for us. It was such a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Throughout dinner, Jesse was assisting our table, and he was fantastic. He always seemed to appear at just the right time without ever feeling intrusive. He was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout the evening. Our main server, Carson, was equally amazing. He was welcoming from the moment we sat down, incredibly attentive, and you could tell he genuinely cared about providing a great dining experience. His recommendations were spot on, he checked in on us regularly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever rushing us. The food was excellent. I absolutely loved the burrata salad, and my husband ordered the lobster bisque. At first, he thought the portion might be on the smaller side, but between the bisque and the bread, he ended up completely satisfied. Speaking of the bread--don't skip it! The butter, made with grass-fed cream, was absolutely incredible and made the appetizer even more memorable. Overall, Splashes exceeded our expectations. From the warm hospitality to the attentive service and delicious food, every part of the experience was exceptional. It truly deserves all of its five-star reviews. A huge thank you to Carson, Jesse, and Ava for making our evening so memorable. No notes, just a fantastic dining experience. We'll definitely be back!
