The food was delicious. It was not the traditional "chain "type " taste. I judge how good a Mexican restaurant is by the taste of the beans, the preparation and taste of the rice, the crispiness of the chips and the homemade taste of the salsa. All these criteria were met and passed with "flying" colors. If these are great, you know that anything else you order will be worth eating. Our service was excellent. The restaurant is very festive in decor. The prices , at least for lunch, are reasonable. The building shows its age. read more

Living in greenwood we have been coming to this Nicky's about once or twice a month for several years. It's not a fancy place, it's got its issues inside as it's an old building, but the staff is usually pretty good and the food has always been consistent. I'm not a big drinker but I do like to get a frozen margarita once in a while and they do me right! Chips, salsa and white queso are always nice and warm. They have an outside enclosed patio area that you can reserve if you want to have a company get together, family reunion, birthday party etc. The food is average priced but they do charge extra for credit cards, so bring cash if you want to avoid that cc charge. Overall we are usually very satisfied with the whole experience here and hopefully they stay open several more years! read more

Great Mexican restaurant! Food is delicious. Fast service even though restaurant is busy. One warning: check your bill! Monday and Tuesday, enchiladas are 2 for one. Two couples ordered the enchiladas, and EACH person was charged for their meal. Pointed out the error to the server and she immediately corrected our bill. this place is getting tired. I take customers here for lunch every few months and the food and service is good. I went to the bar for a second time last night while in town for dinner. The whole bar area smelled bad. The bartender wasn't what I would called friendly and the food was just OK. For an average dinner in the dining room. This place is still OK. But that's it. It's not in what you would call a good part of town. Truth is this whole place needs remodeling. I've always had a good experience with the waitresses and waiters but that whole bar and bar staff replacing. Not to mention the hundreds Nicky's signs. Unfortunately, this is one of the best spots in this area of town and very probably one of the safest. I have no complaints to speak of, but I don't think I want to go back here. Wow. Real Mexican in Louisiana! We love this place. The service is great, the food is outstanding and the drinks are they way they should be. We started with Mocheladas and we're blow away at how good they were. Flavorful, colds as ice and not too spicy. I had the Carne Asada and my wife as the chicken milenasa. This is not Tex Mex, but legit Norteno style. Thank god. I am originally from So Cal and have spent many of night in Mexico eating real Mexican food, and this place has both "American" style fare as well as real deal Mex food with all the flavor and spice usually features only South of the boarder. read more

Nicky's is very inviting and colorful but food seemed very processed. The server was attentive and friendly. I think the queso was rotel with canned nacho cheese-mixed together. The "salsa" seemed to be spiced up roasted tomatoes from a can as well. The enchiladas were ok. The sodas are served in regular plastic cups but the margarita was served in styrofoam and my michelada was served in a cheap throwaway plastic cup. The items we did enjoy were homemade green sauce, margarita, and refried beans. It seems the owner put a lot of money into displaying his name. Margarita was overpriced and gave me an allergic reaction. When I called simply to ask what specific ingredients/brands are used in the house marg so I can avoid them in the future, the manager got immediately defensive and claimed their recipe is "top secret". There is nothing about that recipe that needs to be closely guarded, one of the least memorable margaritas I've ever had (to be expected from the Mexican restaurant neighboring the Walmart and airport hotel). If "I am going to spend my entire life savings on a restaurant and NEVER take care of ANY upkeeping" had a face .....its this place. Ok look......those palm trees have been dead for a VERY long time. GET RID OF THEM! Made it past that....let's walk in the door. Oh man, what is that smell? Dead rats? Thanks you for sitting me at the table; were these seats part of the original build? It certainly feels like it. I promise you it's ok to dust those ceiling fans every now and then. Bathroom smells WAY WORSE.. looking at all the caulking everywhere- I'm guessing there have been a few leaks. Perhaps the rats were sealed in with all that caulking. You're welcome for the tip on where the source of that smell is coming from. Let's walk back to.the table; why are my feet sticking to the floor? The bleach you are using on the floor is only taking off the finish from the time- it is NOT helping with the smell, or getting that sticky dmstuff up. Please don't feel the need to put a straw in my drink for me. Did you wash your hands first? Is that Pace Salsa? i'm tasting? So, it's not fresh....got it. Fajitas were pretty good, but after seeing the neglect throughout the restaurant, I wonder how much neglect is happening in that kitchen. BAD BUSINESS ALERT! FRAUD!! THEFT!! The prices on the menu do not reflect the price they charge you. Ordered a margarita on the menu it is $10 but I was charged $11. Ordered the carbon enchiladas for $14 but was charged $14.50. $1.50 isn't much but when it is happening to everyone it is roughly over 300-500k a year in gained revenue based on 2000 people a week We told the manager what happened and he blamed the owners and then said "sorry about that" and walked off The food was good and the waitress was great. Went across the street to Cane's, sat in line for another 10 minutes and ordered, got served food and that same car was STILL WAITING!! So disappointing! Huge banner enticing us in for $1 Margaritas... Nope, said the waitress, we don't offer that deal anymore... Actual cost was between $7-$10. Menus were dirty, very dark and dingy looking. Good restaurants aren't grungy looking and don't have dirty menus. We ended up leaving... Hate bait and switch places...Hostess said they don't advertise the $1 margaritas, and so we took her outside to show her the banner (see photo), and she acknowledged that she'd let the manager know, but it could be that it was a tough banner to remove (huh?). She said they get lots of complaints about the $1 margaritas not being available as well as other issues. 'Nuf said. read more

I ordered Queso Blanco from Nicky's using the Waitr App- on their menu it states that queso comes with tortilla chips. When they did not send my chips I called to ask if they could send them- the gentlemen told me that although their menu said that it's served with tortilla chips he wasn't going to send them because it's really an a la carts item-- I advised him again what the menu said, and he said "There's nothing I can do, you need to call Waitr." Really yummy Mexican food! Love the authentically decorated atmosphere. The frozen margaritas are delicious. We loved the guacamole appetizer. I ordered the flautas which were delicious. My husband ate the stuffed avocado plate and cleaned his plate. The refried beans are some of the best I've had. We had AMAZING service from Amelia!!! Only giving is 3/5 stars because it's on the pricey side for Mexican food. Still satisfied with the experience, though. read more

We went to Nickys on Mansfield Rd recently. Decided to splurge and ordered 2 Shrimp Mojo de Ajo dinners. Got home, found we had Diablo Shrimp dinners. The one we wanted has grilled shrimp over spanish rice and salad with guacomole over it, Diablo has mushy shrimp in a yukky white sauce. It was terrible. I called. The manager said he would see about getting us 2 plates free but needed to check with Elias in Bossier City. And we never heard back. I called several times, but restaurant said Kevin is not here yet, Kevin is on break and so on. I called Elias he said sorry I have nothing to do with this. Call the Mansfield Road restaurant. By the way, Kevin told me when I first called that he talked to his kitchen and they said we got the correct order. We did not. I said tell them look at the menu, it is two different dishes. And we have not heard back nor have we been able to speak to Kevin to see if we can get the Mojo de Ajo. I looked on the internet and found Trejos has the dish I want. I may just go ahead over there and pick it up and take Nickys off of our list. Sad. Very very sad. I used to get that dish through the years and the first time was on my birthday, I guess the kitchen there now just does not look to see how 2 different dishes are made. I may try to get Kevin one more time or just go see if they will make it right and give me the 2 plates on my way home today. And then I guess I can give it up but to me $46 is a lot of money to spend on something not only the right dish but just totally horrible. We will see. read more

Arriving shortly after noon on a Sunday, I had skipped breakfast and was hungry for some Huevos Rancheros. It wasn't on the menu, but the manager inquired the kitchen staff, who obliged to prepare me a special plate. Instant thumbs-up! On top of that, the platter arrived quickly, with the manager offering up some fresh flour tortillas. This version of the dish came with three small fried corn tortillas with fried egg on each, covered in a picante sauce and served with rice and refried beans. The manager (I sat at the empty bar - the place was jumpin' with after-church folks and the servers were very engaged) proffered some spicy verde sauce which was a perfect complement to the meal. Delightful preparation with a slightly smoky quality to the rice and beans that I found refreshing. Service was prompt and attentive - the margaritas were superb- the atmosphere both vibrant and serene. For going above and beyond the call of duty, Nicky's gets high marks.
