Found out I was being charged for a service I wasn't receiving. Received rude and aggressive emails when I queried this. Suddenly was forced to pay up front because I was "receiving a service throughout the year". Requested advice on several occasions. No reply. No acknowledgement. No advice. Big phone bill due to repeated calls to HMRC to get advice I was paying Callan to give. Sent info for company return 2015-16 in May 2016. Had discussions with Callan in June to refine detail. Contacted Callan many times throughout December expressing concern about not having received accounts for filing. Finally received a holding response on January 9th. One day before the deadline, Stephen provides the information and tells me it was done in September. The take away message is: STEER CLEAR or risk your sanity. This is one of the better offices as with centre 1 no one seems to want to answer the phone and it usually cuts off after 10 minutes on hold.

I did a quick yelp search and this was one of the closest accountants. Now having been brought up in a household where our land line was also the business line I have always had a polite phone manner even when phoning someone, upon dialling this number I was greeted with nothing but a curt hello, no introduction or greeting to let me know that I was phoning the right place. This automatically put me on the back foot. After a rushed explanation of my needs I was treated to a questioning about where I had got this number and a short and abrupt explanation of why she wouldn't be taking on new clients at the moment (end of the tax year, which is fair enough) had she not been in such a rush to hang up she would have found out that I could have waited until after the 31st for my letter but as it stands I won't be using their service at all. I wandered into this (very warm it has to be said) bank one late afternoon, with a vague idea of picking up some information about bank accounts. I'd gone into the nameless bank a few doors up just before this - wanting to talk to someone about opening an account - and has left sorely disappointed with the service I received. This was not the case in this Santander branch, though. Within about three minutes of walking in the door I was sat down in a booth with a knowledgeable lady offering me chocolates. She answered all my questions and filled in an application form for me all in about twenty minutes. Perfect.
