I love that Shays Shoes has been around for so long and is still selling many of the brands that they sold back in the 70s. They still sell a big range range of Dr. Martens, Birkenstocks, and Hush Puppies. Maybe one of the reasons that Shays Shoes has been around for so long is that they manage to cater for everyone. Whether you're a youth wanting a pair of floral-patterned docs, a Mum wanting some Birkenstocks, or a Grandma after some comfy Hush Puppies, Shays has always been the place to find a treat for your feet. I bought Docs here a few years back and they were so helpful and lovely and I still enjoy browsing their new stock when I'm in the area. Some things are built to last and Shays Shoes is one of them.

This is probably my 7th pair of Docs and my 3rd pair of Jadon Max boots, so I'm very familiar with the brand and what to expect. However, this is my first pair of the vegan version, and the quality just doesn't compare to my previous pairs. I've only had them for around 8 months and don't wear them every day, yet the sole has already developed a large horizontal crack (around 10cm long). It's quite significant, and it honestly feels like it's only a matter of time before the entire sole rips off. For the price, I expected them to last much longer, so unfortunately I don't feel the quality matches the cost.

I was then forced to attempt an online exchange, where they tried to charge me an additional fee. After I complained, I was passed between multiple AI agents for weeks, repeatedly answering pointless questions, only to be told after 20 days that the issue would be escalated to a human. No human ever replied. By the time I opened a PayPal dispute, I was told it was too late to appeal due to the delays they caused. This feels deliberately obstructive and designed to make customers give up. I won't shop here again

While the price tag may look like its expensive I have pants and tops that are over 5 years old and still look brand new. The staff are all friendly and helpful. But despite the range on hand, the clothes here are pretty plain for the price tags I saw. While the location and sales staff are lovely, I'd go elsewhere for my jogging garments.

This turned out to be the shortest shopping expedition in history and in a few minutes, I got what I was hoping for: very comfy jeans that fits well too! On top of this, they had a special and I bought 4 pairs at an absolute steal! When making payment, a friendly lad told me about their guarantee, which is superb. Mountain Design is the Valley is quite the store. It isn't big like Anaconda, but it has most of the clothing required for different environments. Whether you need something for below 0 temperatures, which my dad does, you can find it here. There are plenty of different styles of shoes to suit difficult terrain and they've got the good insulation socks to prevent you from frostbite. Mountain Design also stock some seriously insulated snow jackets, which can only be found at reputable stores like this in the Valley. Also, if you regularly buy clothing here, it is worth signing up to their Alliance Club so you can take advantage of some good discounts.

It's a little challenging trying on shoes, especially, when women flock here on their lunch break to feed their shopping craves. So try and visit on non peak time like after 10am but before lunch, or after lunch but before 5pm. Despite this, I still love it here. The girls who work here are so nice. Even when it's busy they make sure to get to everyone and help. Customer service is very important in shoe shops, because most times you want to try on different sizes, different colour, different styles and that's what they're here to help with. Busy small shoe store, but fabulous service!
