    A excellent find.... this modern,spare and cool Peruvian/Japanese restaurant in the ever popular and busy Makati area has a very comprehensive and tasty Nikkei menu with a full sushi bar and beer/cocktail selections. We started with a green ceviche which held very fresh cubed tuna belly and salmon in a smooth,tart and spicy avocado and green pepper marinade. Cool and refreshing with a slight wasabi like finish with a fried nest of rice noodles. The pulpo was next and we asked for the Amarillo pepper based sauce to be put on the side with yucca fries for dipping. Pulpo was tender and succulent but the star of this dish was the amazing Amarillo sauce that was so complex with a Smokey garlic finish.... I can really get into this sauce, perhaps over a rare grilled skirt steak? Next a fresh, lightly seared tuna belly accompanied by the creamiest cheese risotto and red onion salad. Supremely fresh tuna is just one one of he reasons I love dining on seafood in Manila. Tuna was fatty and salted with just a sprinkle of black sesame seeds. The risotto would make any Italian chef proud and was silky and dense. Miso marinated pork belly grilled just past medium was fatty and sweet....Filipino pork at its finest! Lastly came a Peruvian classic... Lomo Saltado, and this version while not exactly traditional was the perfect way to end this excellent meal. Cubed steak in a sweet,tart and dark marinade was stir fried and mixed with the ever present red onions and cilantro. Succulent and soft the meat still held that medium rare tang . The traditional fried potatoes was arranged in a nest which held a lightly poached egg that served as a dip.... subtle and yet, at least in my mind...Genius. This was a world class meal in what has become a world class food destination. The sauces and seasonings were subtle yet very representative of Peru's Nikkei cuisine and I am so happy to have this experience with it only our second meal in Manila. Thanks John and thanks Manila...... you all came through again.

    I am no Peruvian food expert, but it is evident from the Japanese cuisines, that there are slight twists to each item. Playfully colourful, each dish had its own unique texture, whilst staying consistent to the combined culture-fusion theme. The highlights would have to be the flamed edamame (surprisingly addictive), house-made ice cream scoop, kurobutoa gyoza and the miso soup!     This is a sister establishment of Wild-flour cafe. You can find a Nikkei next to most locations in Manila. The food is Peruvian and Japanese fusion, would say mostly Peruvian fusion. If you are in makati traffic and can't make it to Nobu , this place can hit the spot for you. Best is to visit during happy hour, which is before 6 pm and enjoy 20% across all menu items, including drinks. Their classic/ original ceviche is the best of all the ones on the menu and service is great. Recommend it to all who like Peruvian and Japanese wagyu preparations. Drink options include tea's, sake, Japanese whiskey and regular wines.

    I experienced the most amazing dinner at Nikkei, a restaurant where they specialize in Japanese food that has a Peruvian flair. Tonight's special has an Italian flair. They have a big menu and the food is more of in the upper middle price range like around P120 to P800. But the food was amazing, you can eat different things like pica pica style. We ordered: INAYAKI RICE BOWL - Grilled octopus with steamed vegetables, tempura chips, on sushi rice with some savory umami sauce. Pampabusog or this makes you full! 5/5. Hamachi carpaccio - Thinly sliced hamachi served with finely brunoise carrots and a spicy green pepper sauce drizzled with olive oil and citrus vinaigrette. Very delicate fresh fish and delicately balanced of flavors and has a kick in the back of your throat. Unagi asparagus sushi - delicious All the food that we had tried was delicious, amazing flavors and you can try a lot of things in small bites. If you want to eat a full -size meal -get the bento box or the rice bowls. That night, they featured Italian Japanese fusion dishes! Ambiance is modern, cozy and casual with some dim lighting. But it was too cool inside. A lot of meetups with friends and family. Food was amazing! Overall is 5/5! I will definitely be back on my next trip to try other dishes.

    Big WOW for Nikkei. I love this fusion concept: Peruvian Vs. Japanese. This very unique taste is a palate safari like you've never experienced. All menu items are fairly priced and worth every bite. Occasionally, you'll visit a sushi restaurant who packs their rolls with lots of rice and very little of anything else. Nikkei IS NOT that restaurant. It packs it's rolls with PURE FLAVOR! We tried the Ebi causa appetizer, Ebi Furai, Grilled Ebi, Nikkei nigiri, and Nikkei tiraditos. Ebi causa is a delicious guacamole-filled mashed potato ball topped with shrimp flavor explosion for your mouth! Ebi furai (maki) is shrimp tempura wrapped in Japanese rice topped with red snapper covered in light sauce. This is a very simple and fresh fish that is sure to give you a mouthgasm. Grilled Ebi (maki) is a prawn wrapped in Japanese rice with onion leek topped with a lightly seared, thinly sliced mango. BOOM! Mouthgasm x2. This will make your heart cry tears of joy. I usually hate warm fruits, but this was the perfect combination of freshness and Holy S***. My two favorite things. Nikkei nigiri and Nikkei tiraditos are my favorites of the bunch. They call the sauce "Nikkei sauce" and I believe it's some kind of ponzu-based sauce maybe...whatever it is, it's mindblowingly simple and amazing. With the tiraditos you can choose among tuba, white fish, salmon, and octopus. I chose tuna because it's the best probably. The decor is also a beautiful semirustic/modern Japanese. It has wavey cement ceilings clothed in thin wooden bars that really embody a modern Japanese dining experience. Overall, this restaurant really brought out the wow factor and is definitely a MUST-TRY-EVERYTHING kinda place. I'm sure that no matter what you order, you will leave with a happy belly.

    Interior of Nikkei is quite nice and I just love its location. I specifically chose to go 12 noon on a Saturday and it is quite easy and relaxed. You can call to reserve just to make sure. I loved the ambience upon walking inside. I'm a sucker for well-lit wooden interiors. So, I've asked the waitress for their bestsellers and we ended up getting four dishes. Parmesan Scallops , Panko , Nigiri Set, Lomo Saltado. I have to say these are all forgettable dishes. My partner and I were thinking maybe at least one of these four dishes would pack in the right flavor and possibly a Wow factor... but sadly there was barely any. I think Lomo Saltado was the worst one we had. Beef was very tender but the sauce tasted like a sweet tomato, sesame oil mix and we couldnt understand the pairing with the thick-cut fries and eggs. It just really wasn't for us.

    Where do I start?!? I never heard of Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, but my God it's awesome! Sandwiched between Wildflower and Sarsa in Rada Street in Legaspi Village, Nikkei is original, unique, and damned delicious. Everything I ordered was flavorful and fantastic, complex in its taste profile, yet easy to enjoy. I was also pleasantly surprised with the price range of the entrees. Granted, this is a small plates kind of place, but with items ranging from P140 - P200+, you have a lot of elbow room to try out as many items as you can. And, I need to add, the interiors are tasteful and comfortable. Nikkei is fancy enough to bring someone out on a date, but casual enough to meet up with your buddies with. And with the food being as brilliant as it was, you and your mates will have a lot to talk about.

    Came here for happy hour with friends and loved all the food. Who knew mixing Japanese and Peruvian cuisine would be outta this world. Loved the drinks they have concocted as well. A must go if you are in the area. They have a great selection of ceviches and more!

    The modern ambiance of Nikkei matches their innovative menu. I started with a miso soup and the tuna and beet ceviche. Both dishes were very flavorful. My only criticism is the tuna could have been sliced more precisely. I got the cream cheese Roll and the tamago rolls. Which were both flavorful but defiantly a heavier dish than any regular sushi. Overall a great experience with excellent service.

    The food is very delicious and fresh but is very pricey so me and my family go here only if there's a discount but overall very delicous!

The Ambience: We arrived at 4:30 PM for the 5:00 PM seating, only to find no staff at the front desk and no lounge area for early arrivals. The place was literally closed and opened on the dot, 5pm! The lack of a dress code (there was a diner in shorts) and the non-festive music made it feel like a casual Tuesday rather than a special occasion. While the varnished wood tables look nice, they lack the refinement of fine dining; condensation from drinks pooled easily on the surface. The Service: Despite the restaurant being only half-full, the wine service was sluggish there were multiple times when I had to think if the staff was expecting me to stand up and grab the bottle of wine and pour it to the glass myself, there was even a time when the staff attempted to clear my plate while my wife was still eating--a basic fine-dining faux pas. The Food: This was the biggest letdown. The crackers tasted stale, the lobster bisque lacked body, and the squid sushi was bland. Most disappointing were the mains: the fish skin was rubbery, and the Wagyu was overpowered by an overly tangy sauce. Even the desserts felt repetitive in flavor. It's hard to recommend this Omakase when the execution doesn't match the price point.

The quality of the sushi could be much better. The rice was a bit off, and it didn't have that fresh, well-balanced taste you expect from good sushi. Definitely not the highlight of the meal. * Gyoza - The gyoza was actually pretty good. It had a nice pan-fried crisp on the outside and juicy filling inside. This is my second time dining here, the first time being just a casual dinner with family at the Kazu cafe area. This time dining at the sushi omakase area for 15 courses. Our reso was for 6:30 and my girlfriend and I arrived around 6:12-6:15. I had a cocktail and she had a cold tea at the Kazu cafe while we waited. The 6:30 seating was booked and we were the first to be seated. The other 2 parties were late so chef Saitosan started us off with our 1st course, sawara salad. It was soo good that we ate every last piece of ikura, tsuma, shiso and whatever nut was used in the dish! By the time course 2 or 3 came around the 2nd party of 2 finally showed up and another 10 minutes later the last party of 2 showed up. To me, it seemed very disrespectful of the 2 parties to show up late not only because it disrupts the flow of service for the chef, but also for the other diners. I was pretty upset about that but chef Saito did his best to bring us all around the course. My gf and I purposely ate some of the courses slower so everyone else could catch up but it was difficult since we got the 15 course omakase and the other parties got the 19 or 24 course omakase. Back to the food, it was all delicious! My favorite nigiri was the shima aji, my favorite cold dish was the whitefish seaweed salad and my favorite hot dish was the mini unagi don with kinshi tamago. To summarize, this is the best sushi I've had in the Philippines so far. I dont want to call out any other sushi restaurants in the Philippines but let's just say Kazunori has no gimmicks or unnecessary garnishes and the quality of food you get beats any other place I've been to with the same price point (15 course / 5k per head). I visit the Philippines 2-4 times a year and every time I try new places to find one I'd like to settle at. This is for sure a place that I will be coming to more and more often now. My experience this time I'd rate 4 stars, just because there was long wait times in-between courses due to the other diners being late and they got more courses than us. BUT my gf and I agree that Kazunori is for sure a 5 star establishment. I hope to return again before my trip is over!

Japanese resto on the third or fourth floor of this mall and the place is similar to a small sushi place here in Toronto with only about 10-15 tables that extend inside the mall so you can 'people watch' while you munch on some fresh well-handled ingredients. The chicken teriyaki dinner was served on a bed of fresh leafy greens with bomb teriyaki sauce drizzled on top that can activate salivation in an instant. The sushi rolls were compact with flavour and filling that is heavily squished between master hands and a wooden roller perfecting a trip coming to an end in my beautiful city. I forget which ones we ordered but we came near closing and the options were limited to what's available for the chef to make so we settled for what it is, but it never felt like settling. Service was also warm despite us bombarding into the server's wishful thinking in getting the restaurant cleaned and empty in time for clocking out. Please refer to the pictures taken as all of the above have imprinted quality sushi in our minds whenever we are back for some shopping next visit. A bit on the pricier side compared to other cheaper options in and out the mall but it's equivalent to paying $60 and on par with the a la carte restos here in Toronto.
