We also ordered the 2-item bento combo with pork katsu and chicken teriyaki, and the portions were large. The chicken was nicely grilled and juicy, while the pork katsu was crispy and well-fried without being greasy. All the sauces were on point and really tied everything together. To round it out, we tried the shrimp tempura, which was lightly battered, crisp, and not overly oily -- exactly how tempura should be. I went here because of the 4.9 rating. I ordered takeout and when I got there I saw no Japanese employees. The menu had chicken and pork cutlet rather than chicken katsu and pork katsu. I ordered sashimi - salmon 8 pieces and got 8 pcs sushi. I should have known because they did not offer chirashi. Which is sashimi over sushi rice. Their gyoza is the darkest I have ever seen. I have heard of Tex-Mex; but have never seen or heard of Mex-Japan. I previously posted and they asked me to take the review down because they are family owned. If they are going to benefit from a 4.9 rating on Yelp, they should take the good with the bad. read more

By far the best sushi restaurant in La Habra. My sister and I go here all the time when we are wanting sushi. The environment is so welcoming and the staff are so friendly. They already know us by name. The rolls are a decent size and sashimi is fresh and tasty. I order the la habra roll it had just the right amount of spice. And we get the salmon sashimi. I was doomscrolling on TikTok one day and came across a video of this place. I decided to check it out since it was only 8 miles away. The location is in a strip mall with lots of parking. We went on a Saturday around 1 pm. There was already a nice crowd but there was still plenty of seating open. We decided to sit at the bar. I'm so glad we did! The entire staff is friendly and down to earth including the chefs. We were able to interact with all three of them and learned so much about their start a few months ago. We ordered from the main and "secret" menu. We started with the spicy edamame. For us this is a must when going to sushi spots. But theirs?! OH EM GEEEE! The large serving is enough for about 4/5 people and comes with a lemon wedge. As a Mexicana, when I first tasted them I thought they had Tajín on them haha but the chef said it wasn't Tajín. Well, whatever it was it's a bit of sweet and spicy and a lot of yummy goodness! We ordered five different rolls. At any other place they'd bring them all out on individual plates. Not this place! They brought them out on the coolest dragon plate! The plating was beautiful and fun. We weren't even celebrating anything. That's just how they roll! If I could give this place 10 starts I would. By far one of the best sushi places my husband and I have been too. The food was amazing, theirs customers service was amazing. One of the chefs came to introduce himself and told us about an event they are having on October 10th which I thought was really nice. The ambiance was great they were playing salsa music in the background and everyone one was definitely having a great time. There is a lil wait time but definitely worth it. I have followed this restaurant ever since three locations ago. It is my dad's favorite restaurant. After my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and it progressed, he started to lose his appetite more and more. But not for this place. If I bring sushi from another restaurant, he does not like it. He only likes it from here. So, I make the drive from almost an hour away to get sushi from his favorite restaurant when I am able to. The chefs and staff are so kind. They went out of their way and even offered something extra for his birthday. I am forever thankful about this place and how it makes my dad so happy to eat from here. I love Niko! I've been going here for YEARSSS. when they originally moved, the community was happy and moved with them. Once they shut down, everyone was sooo sad and i missed their sushi so much. When they announced this new location I was sooo excited since it's closer to my house. The chefs and staff here is always super sweet and welcoming so all! They're very active on instagram with the community as well. We finally got to stop by today and see the new location and try some food. Honestly I think the portion size and quality of their food is sooo much better. The chefs are just as sweet and greet you as you walk in. This location, I feel, is much better for them. We came on a Monday around 3:30 and there was a few people already here so I feel like lunch time is perfect to stop by! I've been seeing and hearing this place has been getting PACKED. Have been following since Asahi days! Then Niko and now Niko Chefs! A+++ for the owners. They have the people skills to make you want to support them and their business. Their rolls taste healthier than most sushi places and at approx $16 per roll you leave filled with even one roll per person. though their food is so good its nearly impossible to only get one roll each. They were even so kind as to make the Monster roll that was from Asahi from 2009! They do have a hidden menu and would suggest inquiring. We got a roll off there (I want to say it was called Guadalahabra roll?) maybe thats in my head... but something liek that and it was FABULOUS. We found them! I was searching on Yelp for a new sushi place to be our favorite and we found the original Asahi chefs that used to in La Habra off Imperial and Beach. We were sad when Niko Niko closed and now that they we found them, we finally went tonight for Valentine's. The place was packed inside and got a table, great atmosphere and the service was amazing! Always asking if we are good, drinks refilled, etc. my daughter was happy they still had the avocado roll and all our original favorites! Niko Niko has been a staple in my Wife's and my eating out plans. They moved a couple of times in La Habra and when we heard they were closing we were not happy. Where will we enjoy the same delicious food! We heard about the opening of Niko Sushi chefs and we were excited. It took us a little bit to visit. It was a little further from us. A whole 3-4 miles further (yeah not much but had to come up with an excuse not to visit so quickly). Now to the good part. We went and all our staples were there. The food was great the ambience was excellent. Smaller but still felt the same and best of all tasted great. The Salmon roll, the Genki Roll, the Rainbow roll, Albacore Garlic Roll and the Hungry Roll. All were so very good. So cool to still have this restaurant around with many of the same staff. If you have not tried it, Go. It is a very good sushi place. Not an all you can eat restaurant but very worth the value. Yes they have the teriyaki chicken and other alternatives but we haven't partaken in those menu items.
