My first (and at the moment, only) experience of Nila's Burmese Kitchen - and Burmese food in general - was at a brewtap at Runaway Brewery. Rich and I shared the pork roll and the tamarind pork curry, both of which were incredibly delicious. They also offer veggie and vegan options and non-pork meat options.
Both dishes were £5 each which was reasonable for the size of the portions. The pork curry was wonderfully sour thanks to the tamarind and the meat was falling-apart tender due to the slow cooking. The pork roll was covered in a delicious slaw and copious amounts of sriracha. Both dishes were spicy but not 'blow your head off' spicy - though maybe it's worth chatting to them if you're not very friendly with spice.
They're a great chatty and passionate team behind Nila's Burmese Kitchen. They took the time to chat to me about what they offer and where I am likely to find them.
Really looking forward to seeing more of them around Manchester! read more
