Looking for some delicious, hearty food and cold beer? Then this is the place for you. Just across…read morethe street from Spittelau station (U4, U6, S-Bahn), this restaurant is nestled into the arches of the old train bridge along the gürtel. In summer, they have a HUGE patio and practically every customer was sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air.
We were a group of 11 for a birthday party and they can definitely handle larger groups, just call ahead to reserve a table.
The food was excellent and abundant all around. They are known for their spareribs and they didn't disappoint. Two long slabs of ribs, coated with their own blend of spices and BBQ sauce, atop a pile of potatoes. I love ribs in Vienna and I'd put these in the top three for best ribs in town. I wasn't a big fan of their potatoes (I prefer the thinner coin-shaped potatoes with the ribs at other places in town), but after devouring the pile of ribs, there wasn't much room left in my stomach for potatoes.
They also have nice daily specials.
The service was adequate, but not too helpful at first (something I've gotten used to in Vienna). But by the end of the meal, the waiter had become rude. Someone in my group asked for a glass of tap water and he refused to bring any without her also purchasing another beverage. Ridiculous! This deteriorating service wasn't bad enough to ruin our night, but don't expect too much politeness, just damned good ribs!
