We ordered 2 bowls of tonkatsu ramen, the sashi feast as well as an salmon roll and spicy salmon. We throughly enjoyed the ramen broth. It has a rich porky flavor with hint if smokiness. It does not taste overly salty. The noodles were a little soft but was plentiful. Sashimi feast was creative and served with a bowl of rice, salad and miso. I went on a cold day and had the Negi ramen with the special house made noodles and it hit the spot. I recommend paying the extra $1 for the house noodles because it's delicious! Came here pretty late, so we didn't have to make any reservations. It was pretty chilly at the restaurant, so I'm glad I had a cardigan. If you post up pictures on any social media app, you can get 5% off the bill. The service was good. It wasn't amazing as I didn't know who our server was. I came for lunch with a friend and I got the sashimi feast and he got the chirashi and both were really good but I wish they came with more rice because it wasn't really filling. It came with miso soup and salad but only one salad came so we didn't know who it belongs to so we shared it. The miso soup was a bit saltier than what i preferred. The fish was super fresh and it was nice but eating it deconstructed was a bit harder than I realized. It also didn't need soy sauce since it had flavorings paired with it. My sashimi plate didn't come with any ginger or wasabi but then my friends dish had DOUBLE of it. He got one in his bowl and then a side of it. We also got drinks and my friend was not too fond of the matcha lemonade because the lemonade was too strong and it took away from the matcha. Mine was pretty tasty. It was like an orange juice with back notes of the tea. Service wise it was very good and everyone was friendly and somewhat attentive. I did have one point that I needed to ask for water but they came back to refill after that one time I asked. I wish the place had a bit more lighting for lunch times but it's more ambient lighting towards the inner parts of the place. They also have tables, high bar tables and sushi bar seats which is nice for a good range of options. Prices are tiny bit high but the quality is good and they have a lot of tea options which is nice since a lot of places always focus on matcha and hojicha. You rarely see other teas being used in drinks. I do wish they still have their parfaits but I had that sooo long ago that I didn't realize they took it away. I want to try their tiramisu next time. But if going I would say the portions are a little on the smaller side for sushi and sashimi. I can't say for the others. read more

I ordered the grilled salmon don, which is perfect as always, and my boyfriend got the chicken teriyaki don. My boyfriend especially likes this restaurant because the portion sizes are better than those of other restaurants in the area and are worth the price. I usually get the grilled salmon set because it comes with a side of rice, a salad, pickled vegetables, and a steamed egg, but because we got sushi as an appetizer (which is delish per usual), I decided on the don, which is just the protein, salad, and rice with a miso soup on the side. I haven't been to Nippon Cha since inception and randomly stumbled in here while strolling through Bell Blvd. The atmosphere was alive with chatter and "mmm" and "ooooh" which tickled us with excitement. We had 2 types of ramen and per the server's suggestion, we opt in for the "tea" noodles and it was pleasant. Tea infused noodles...who knew! It worked. The last pages of the menu also allows you to customize your ramen. You can choose from a variety of noodle type, soup type, toppings, meats, etc. A nice bonus is they also offer sushi. We went the basic route and got a california roll and it was pretty damn good. The avo was perfectly ripe, the rice perfectly seasoned, and they weren't stingy with the portion either. Though I don't remember the server's name, she was extremely attentive and probably the main reason we'll be back. Food just tastes better when you have a great staff. My bf tried the spicy miso chicken ramen and the chicken teriyaki set. Everything was very flavorful. The only interesting thing was the ground meat on the spicy ramen was a tad too salty for me but I think it's meant to mix in with the broth. I already thought the broth was well seasoned. I absolutely love this place and feel lucky to live within distance because this is a top 3 establishment when I think of great food on Bell. Nippon Cha is an absolute gem and it is surprising to me that a Japanese establishment of their caliber would be placed in Bayside, out of all the places that they could've established themselves in. But now that they've expanded to Williamsburg--which seems more fitting--this location still has a very local feel. Almost everyone has already said the obvious: the matcha here is superb. Nippon Cha's legacy is actually rooted in 400 years of family-owned matcha tea cultivation in Uji, Kyoto, which explains the variety of in-house branded teas that you'll see in the restaurant. The food here is great. It's not Michelin-star great or fancy but it does the job for something nice and simple while being reasonably priced. I took my mother here recently and she's usually not a huge fan of Japanese food, but was impressed by the portions and the quality. The King Crab Uni Ikura Don was our favorite, but I feel like this is an entree in itself rather than an appetizer because even the small size was a lot for us with the generous portions of crab, uni, and roe. Also got takoyaki and I've accepted the fact that it's always going to be average due to octopus not having a high demand in the US, hence the higher ratio of flour. I've had the Tochucha Ramen twice and it's nothing to write home about, but their portions of char-siu are generous. Highly recommend making a trip out here if Williamsburg is a bit far!
