We often have lunch here, I always go for the yummy chicken cutlet curry. It's just enough to fill up for the rest of the afternoon.

It's been a while since I'd…read morevisited the one in town, but I feel like the two branches, menu aside, couldn't be anymore different. Tanpopo Howick seats quite a few more people and has more of a Saturday hangout feel as opposed to a family restaurant. There are bar seats aswell if you're just there for drinks or would prefer to have your meal there. Our table for two was massive, and suitably so because it ended up being covered in food. The tables and ottomans are very close together and its s tight squeeze to get in and out of your seat. I didn't find this to be a huge problem, but this really depends on personal preference. The service here was awesome. We were greeted immediately by one staff member and they were great throughout the night. Our food came out quickly and it took us a while to get through it all. Their miso soup is just delicious and for $3 you get a massive bowl- it will certainly make you realise that you're being ripped off everywhere else. This is also the best miso I've had in recent times and one is enough to share between two people. We also ended up grabbing a loyalty card to get a few dollars off on our next visit. We even got a couple of extra stamps on ours because it was our first visit! Excellent and consistent service and food, I would highly recommend Tanpopo for a great meal.

They have ample seating for diners so they can accommodate a lot of people and groups would enjoy the spacious layout here. Its located right next to the Amersham Way entrance to Westfield Manukau so there's tonnes of free parking if you're stopping by for a meal before a spot of shopping- nice and convenient! Their miso soup is delicious. I've become accustomed to miso over the past couple of years and Kyoto does one of my favourites. I've tried their katsu and it tastes great; its perfect for someone like me who's not quite ready to go all the way with ramen or anything too out of my element. They also have a good range of entrees, and I'm a little obsessed with their snow peas. Prices at Kyoto are pretty reasonable and you can get a dinner for two with drinks for about $50-$60.

I dunno that's insanely expensive. Especially for a meal that didn't really impress either of us. Takoyaki was very dry and not much sauce. Sashimi was fresh enough so not much to say about that. Sushi was normal like food court sushi. Donburi was tasty but also nothing amazing. Service however was sad. I mean the waitress didn't seem too keen to seat us or service us. There were lots of better places to sit but she gave us a shady corner seat haha oh well I will know better next time !! Food court next time haha

It lacked the layers of flavour I am used to. As well as there was no salad or shredded cabbage. Just this egg mixture that had som veggies thrown in. Not the best I have had.... By a long shot. I also had tempura veggies. Or should I say two beans & seven thin bits of kumera aka sweet potato. One of the string beans still had the stringy bit attached. This made it hard to bit. Also as far as I am aware tempura is supposed to be as white as possible. Not the golden brown I got. But the worst thing was that 1/2 way through my meal these business men storm in & demand priority treatment "fast service" because they're in a hurry. I was disgusted by the way these yobbos talked through the waitresses. It made enjoying my lunch really difficult. Would I go back? Probably not.

Watching your food being cooked in front of you is a great novelty and I don't think I'd get sick of it. All of the teppan-yaki chefs I've encountered are always so well-mannered and, of course, very good at their jobs. The yum yum sauce with prawns at Daikoku are one of my many food-related weaknesses- there isn't a lot out there that tastes better than that combination! And my medium rare steak is always cooked perfectly- an advantage of watching some cook your meal for you. They've usually got some awesome specials on during their quieter days (Sunday through Thursday) that include you appetisers, rice, mains and dessert for about $35- a great price at any restaurant!

I only found out when I met my friend there, but thankfully the food was so nice I could push away the awkwardness of having a row of guys in front of me almost immediately. The environment had a traditional feel to it, especially with the distinctly Japanese staff. Everyone was so well-mannered and friendly, so I've always meant to go back here, but haven't quite made it. Hopefully soon, so I can eradicate the awkward memories and be served new, adventurous ones tucking into an eel dish perhaps? Sounds like the bad memories may just swim away with that sucker.
