Downtown Lafayette adventure, and time for lunch. We had been driving past Njoy and decided to give it a try, and what a great experience. Beautiful design inside, and inviting. You pick your seat and the ordering is different, as after reviewing the menu, you go up to the counter and order. I ordered the Samosas for the appetizer and it was so good, the flavors and spice just a completely different taste. The mains were the Masala, and what can I say, but flavor perfection spicy but you can still taste all of the seasoning, and the garlic naan that went with this another level, then the fish pomfret, yum especially with the sauce, and lightly grilled onions was one of the better fish dishes I've had, a little salt for perfection, however put it all together with the naan and you have one delicious bite, the lemon rice with nuts was definitely a twist that were not used to but in a good way. I ordered chicken biryani, garlic naan, and butter chicken for delivery, and everything was absolutely spot‑on. The food arrived hot, fresh, and neatly packaged with no spills or mess. The chicken biryani was wonderfully fragrant and full of flavor, with tender pieces of chicken and perfectly cooked basmati rice infused with spices. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, slightly sweet, and incredibly comforting -- the kind of dish you just keep going back to. The garlic naan was soft, warm, and full of garlicky goodness (without being overpowering), perfect for scooping up every bit of sauce. Portions were generous enough to enjoy leftovers the next day. Serving up the most pillowy garlic naan bread and tender bites of lamb, NJOY met and exceeded our expectations as a fine dining Indian establishment. I ordered the lamb gongura, a dish that was aromatic and full of spicy chilli peppers. The dish came with rice but the rice was a bit hard and undercooked so I was grateful for the soft and thick garlic naan bread that also accompanied the curry. My friend ordered the tandoori chicken with tamarind sauce and she was also super impressed with the flavor profile. The service was also efficient with the food coming out hot and fast and the waiter refilling our water glasses in a timely manner. NJoy has a very large menu so we will definitely be back to try more things. 7.5/10 we'll be back again! read more

Went to try Indian food in Lafayette. This restaurant was very cute and has a big menu of options to choose from. We were served pretty quickly. Ended up getting the mango lassi which was really, really good. I really liked how the mango wasn't bitter and all the ingredients were pretty evenly tasty. Also got the bhindi masala. I asked for it super spicy. I was kind of disappointed it tasted only mildish to me. The tomato base of the curry was nice. I didn't really liked the okra in this dish. Great spot serving up authentic Indian food on the corner of Johnston and Jefferson. I played it safe with the mild chicken curry and a little spice on the side. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As of Nov '24 they do not serve alcohol, but apparently you can bring your own wine! I will remember that next time. Service was great as well. read more

I visited Njoy twice during my sojourn in Lafayette. Both times, I encountered friendly service and AWESOME food! Everything was made fresh. The soup was delightful, the bread was incredible, the curry was perfect. I tried the Gongura curry, and it was very different and extremely flavorful. I'd never had that before, in the nearly 50 years I've been frequenting Indian restaurants plus one long visit to India itself. I was pleased to be sure. I also got biryani which was also extremely rich and flavorful. The second night I still had leftovers so I just got a chicken tikka. This is a dish often made too dry but Njoy did not murder it, it was tender and delicious too. I cannot find fault here! Add to the fact that they've got outdoor seating and the staff comes out frequently to check on you when you sit outdoors. One cannot go wrong here. read more

I haven't got it in a while, but when I did, it was absolutely amazing. The workers are very nice and come to check on everyone a decent amount. The ambiance is very warm and welcoming. Lamb Rogan Josh was the best I've had in the area. The lamb and sauce were spiced to perfection and is great to be used as a dip for your naan. Garlic Naan was fluffy and spiced with just the right amount of garlic as not to overwhelm. read more

Absolutely delicious Indian food! I had the chicken tikka masala and vegetable samosas. Both were exquisite and the portions were perfect. I crave this place almost weekly. In fact, I like this place much better than Masala (closer to my house) because, in addition to the great food, the service has been consistently positive. Every time I come in, I am promptly addressed, warmly greeted, and treated with kindness (which was not the case at Masala unless the owner was in--he was great). I will be going here from now on and will recommend this place to others. read more

5 STARS- Vegetarian Bagara Baingan delicious!! They asked me about the spice level and I requested mild and it was perfect with a nice hint of spice. Hubby says Curry chicken was 5/5! I'm a garlic freak so the garlic naan bread was 5/5. Our waiter gave us a compliment serving of a dessert made with simolina flour, ground cashews & almonds, raisins, pineapple. A new opening in the Laffy area. The staff here is a big part of the rating. The owner waited our table and was just charming the entire time. The food was so flavorful and the portions were big enough for the healthiest of appetites. The Chicken Tiki Masala was absolutely magnificent. My Lamb Rogan Josh (spicy) was full of tender lamb and spiced perfectly. The appetizer was the Gobi Manchurian. Spiced and fried correctly. I'd highly suggest giving this restaurant a try. Always a lovely welcome. Staff are amazingly friendly. but I keep coming back for the food. I love lamb and I have had the lamb vindaloo and also the lamb korma. Normally I go for medium spice but last time I went a little higher and it was Ok. I am not normally a really hot spice guy. Every lamb dish was delicious. The accompanying rice was light and fluffy. I should also mention the naan bread - my favorite was the garlic naan. and ended up took some home ... along with my leftover lamb. Portions are indeed generous. Must try other dishes next time. I will always rave about all Indian food for the rest of my life. We ordered the veg samosas and mixed veg pakorda to start, and veggie biryani, veg noodle, and Chana masala for dinner. The portions were great on all items. Flavors were lovely. Staff was sweet and welcoming, and the iconic downtown Lafayette building it pretty and the business deserves their place in downtown Lafayette. Food was so delicious. Best Indian food in Lafayette, spot on spices and flavors. We're from California and find the food here tends towards cajun, everything tastes similar, be it Indian, Mexican, etc. all has that cajun spice, which gets old fast. Njoy is an exception to this and remains authentic. read more
