I've been getting Russian manis for 3 years now and I love them! I've been to no choice a few times and their work has always been pretty good and clean until yesterday. they cut the cuticles of 3 of my fingers so deep that it wouldn't stop bleeding and oozing with blood, again I've had Russian manis for many many years and I don't have sensitive cuticles so this was pretty disappointing for me. Because I woke up and still 3 of my fingers were swollen, and continued bleeding, I had to go get the entire mani removed the next day and just do my bare nails because I didn't want them to get more infected. I have been here 3 times so far, and every single time it is a great experience. Customer service is amazing, communication is amazing, the work is amazing and the prices are amazing. I've gotten my Russian manicures with Kriss, an amazing nail tech. I am so happy I came across this place, they are helpful in every way. They offer complimentary beverages from water, coffee, tea, even champagne. I ofcourse get the champagne. They even play my favorite show (sex and the city) as I get my pedicure done and sipped on my champagne. Everytime I leave this place I get sooo many compliments on my manicure and pedicures. It is hard to believe this place has all but one 5-star reviews. Today was my first time and I intended to get a full set (Gel X). The nail tech insisted that I go with gel dipping powder (or whatever the salon's preference is). They quoted me $110 for Gel X and $140 for the gel dipping powder. I decided to stick with Gel X since it was my first time and I wanted to see how it went. It's not so much that I mind paying more for quality BUT first I want to make sure it's quality. When I opted to stay with Gel X the nail tech got noticeably annoyed. She proceeded to aggressively remove my current set of Gel X using only her high-powered electric filer and attempted to file down to my bare nails. This process was considerably painful and when I told her that she said that's how it's done, i.e., that I had NO CHOICE. While I am aware some lower-end places do it that way, that is not the best way to do removals. The better practice to protect nail health is a combination of soaking and filing gently (NOT AT HIGH SPEED like this nasty attitude nail tech was doing). A quick Google search and common sense will tell you that. The nail tech lost credibility when she tried to convince me of misinformation and I was just turned off by her nasty attitude. The receptionist then intervened and said if I am not happy I should not feel obligated to continue with the services. NO alternative was presented so I ended up just ended up wasting my time. NO consideration by the salon. This place is has some OK qualities, i.e., parking. BUT if you are going to charge Bloomingdale's prices you also have to deliver Bloomingdale's customer service. Huge disappointment, incompetent up-sell nail techs (at least the one I had). I would NOT recommend. read more
