This is a perfect place to take young family members who like to run around and make noise!…read more I recently took a young niece here, and she absolutely loved it - an added bonus was that she was so tired out by the end of it her mum said she slept like a log! I remember going to something like this when I was really young too, it offers a ideal mix between being able to see and touch animals like rabbits and pigs, to an adventure playground with those big slides that probably aren't so big when your a grown up but are huge when your little that you sort of drop off almost vertically, with your bum hardly touching the slide! There's also a nature trail. The park is great in nice weather, not so good in the rain but there are still inside things to do. It is also quite reasonable priced - £7.00 adult and £6.50 child, check their website for special offers.

With stacks to entertain children, it's also a pleasant space for adults, and even when it's sunny and busy there seems to be plenty of space for everyone. For kids, the play arena has trampolines, slides, rope climbing structures and go karts, plus mini golf and the Strawberry Line miniature train. The six or so shire horses kept at the park are a big attraction, and there are lots of smaller animals to see, and even handle (under supervision). The park has falconry displays at the weekends (and during school holidays), plus a nature trail along the river (with a junior assault course running parallel to it). Adults cost £7.50, children (and OAPs) £7, and little ones under 2 go free. The park's open every day from April - end of October, then the indoor play barn is open on weekends and school holidays.

In the 20+ acres you have all the reg farm animals to feed. Theres a couple of rides , bouncy castle and toy tractors to skoot around on. All this could be done in drizzly weather with wellys on but if its really bad theres a massive indoor play area. they have a small area for babys and toddlers thats well padded and keeps them entertained for ages. The older kids have lots to climb and the tallest slides i have ever seen. my heart was in my mouth watching the kids come down it , but they thought it was wicked. They have a cafe which offers a good range of food from all day breakfasts to pie and chips and the prices are all pretty reasonable. I usually go for a cheese panini which is served with salad, coleslaw and nacho chips which is £4.95 and a large seating area round the sides so there is always somewhere to sit down. The soft play itself is a little smaller than others we have been to but I like it because I can sit down with a coffee and watch my son without stressing about where he is. They have a big variety of toys to play with which cater for different ages of children so there is plenty to keep the kids entertained. Entry prices are: 0-6 months Free 6-12 months £1.50 12 months and up £3.50. They also offer a 25% discount on your second paying child which I think is great. I would definitely recommend ugly bugs if you are looking for a cheap place to take the kids which isn't over stressful. A huge selling point for this place is that all the doors have a push button sensor which is very high up meaning your little ones can't escape.

There is a large soft play area and cafe, I've not tried the food, but the menu is what you would expect from a greasy spoon so not very exciting! The soft play area also has a a number of toys so it's great for all ages. It's quite small so you can also let the little ones run loose while you sit and have a cuppa. It feels very secure so there is no fear of your child escaping!! Definitely worth a visit if you are stuck for something to do. You can also book it for a children's party.

The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful and the abundance of cute greedy animals desperate for you to feed them is nothing short of delightful. Their animals range from goats and sheep to chickens to cows right over to the more unusual llamas and highland cows. Even if you're not into getting close to the animals or feeding them the buckets of food available at the ticket office, just watching them mooch around is still fun and relaxing. The llama took somewhat of a disliking to me (was it something I said?) and stormed at me, looking like it could easily clear the fence and gain its freedom. I wasn't going to hang around to find out. One look at my pathetic retreating hide running off into the distance was enough to reduce its anger to mere disdain, and instead he decided to spit all over me. In some sort of random heroic act, the pig sharing its pen flung itself at the llama as if to take the blow for me, and rather than reflect on the llama soaking I'd been given, I instead watched this pig take one for the team. Right in the eye, no less. From hereonin, I shall name this pig SuperPig. If you do have kids you can pretend are the reason for visiting, there's plenty to keep them occupied. Other than the animals you can feed, there are talks and handling sessions with some of the smaller or baby pets throughout the day. There's also a nice adventure playground and a couple of trampolines to wear them out on too. There's a small gift shop and a place to buy some food, as well as a picnic area if you're sensible enough to bring your own food. I love this place and can't wait to go back when it reopens for the season next year.

On site cafe sells everything from fish & chips to ice cream or just a cuppa. Toilets well sign posted and clean. Lots of basins and hand gel dotted around for after you have touched the animals. Nice staff who are kid friendly. Congratulations to the farm for keeping the gift shop prices low, lots of souvenirs on sale for under £2.

It's lovely, a nice big (but not too big) main play area with 2 other smaller rooms, the toys are really fantastic, my 16 month old especially loved playing in the room with the small slides and climbing frames, she loves climbing and these toys were small enough so that if she did fall she wouldn't fall very far and it would be a soft landing. Around the outside of the main play area there are tall seats around so parents can sit there enjoying a tea or coffee and watch the children play. There are lots of snacks hot and cold drinks and things like paninis and sandwiches, I had a cheese and ham panini and it was delicious ! I've been meaning to go to Portico for ages as everyone I know with small children raves about it!…read more My time finally came on Friday and it didn't disappoint. My only grumble came from trying to find some where to park, so if you are able WALK!! I sadly didn't have that option and had quite a stressful 10mins with a screaming child trying to park. Once inside I ordered a coffee and some lunch and found my friends. The menu is simple but nice. I had a panini which was fine and the coffee was really good. The children's menu is perfect and simple. Once we'd revitalised ourselves with refreshments we hit the play area. Most indoor play places I've been to have a soft play and a few toys but this is so much more. The play area is full of great toys, there is a whole kitchen and shop which kept my son entertained on his own for far longer than any other play. This is also closed in with seating around so you can sip coffee and chat with your eyes on your little one. Genius! It's 3.75 for the day and worth every penny if you want to meet friends and chat while your child is entertained.

On my way, I used to see signs for HorseWorld - and was always slightly intrigued by what I might find there. I almost expected to find a world run by horses! Sometimes these children's adventure playground type places are much of a muchness, once you've seen one indoor drop slide, you've seen them all! HorseWorld really does have a lot of horses, which perhaps sets them apart a little. They offer homes to discarded working horses and other horses, ponies and donkeys in general need of love and attention! Prices are reasonable at just under £7 for adults and under a fiver for kids, and there certainly is a lot to do there!

Some of the other jockey's were taller than I expected and some seemed to have not even entered puberty. I suspected foul play and that some may have been taking performance enhancing substances but I bit my tongue because we weren't racing after all. In the end I didn't ride a horse (as I mentioned they were VERY tall.. about as tall as a small shed) but I did stroke one and it didn't kick me. Apart from the cheats it was a fully enjoyable day and when I got home I made myself a medal.
