Every year for 3 days this market is put up in the old city where different craftsmen display their produce. From herbal soaps to 21 different types of spanish empanadillaa, tea varities and spices from morocco, potters making the famous andalucian pottery on spot are few to say. It is organised by Institución Ferial de Cádiz (Ifeca) every year for 3 days in August to promote local craftsmen business. One can find all the typical spanish food delicacies served here at a reasonable price. This year it was held on 17,18,19 August 2012 in the neighbourhood of El Pópulo. The dates may vary every year depending on the weekend.

Beautiful geometry, looks like two sails, which is a great nod to this nautical city. The ultramodern look of the bridge was also a cool contrast to the ancient look of the old town of Cadiz. Upon landing/entering the old town, there is a big Corte Ingles to welcome you. There were tolls along the highway getting there, but no tolls for the bridge, itself!

Really fascinating prehistoric cave drawings and stunning cave formations -- stalactites and stalagmites. We called ahead the day before to reserve a spot for a particular time. The tour lasted 1 hour. Wear good shoes because you have to climb some steps and descend some slippery steps. Don't do this tour in flip flops or heels. Probably not good for toddlers or the frail elderly because of the terrain. The tour guide speaks English and Spanish, and for our group he gave the tour in English because that's the language almost everyone spoke (a couple of Germans but he doesn't speak German).

Granted, the number of 30,000 year old pictographs in this cave is limited, but the younger art--12,000-25,000 years old--makes this one of the more significant Paleolithic art sites in the world. Another thing that makes this cave unique is that you can tour it for a paltry sum under the guidance of one of the descendants of the discoverer of the cave, Sr. Bullon. It is truly an authentic experience, with the only improvements being stairs cut into the bedrock of the cave. Lighting is only what is carried in (recommend you bring your own, as the electric lanterns do little other than prevent tripping). The cave contains a good assortment of formations, including flowstone draperies, wedding cakes, and the like. A "living" cave (water still depositing formation), you are rightly asked not to touch anything--no surprise given that this is called the Cave of the Pools after all. The tours are irregularly timed, the best bet is to arrive by 10am. The steep climb to the entrance is test enough of the physical requirements, but be forewarned that the cave is fairly slippery, as caves are wont to be. Caver approved.

The irregular layout of this square is conditioned, since in the past it coincided with one of the mouths of the ancient sea, which crossed the current island of Cádiz. In the Plaza de San Juan de Dios, several buildings of interest stand out, such as the Municipality, the church of San Juan de Dios and the Casa de los Pazos Miranda. We loved seeing the activity in here, kids running around and playing, people strolling, just a nice cute cozy place in Cadiz.

We walked around and discovered Plaza de las Flores, laid back, pretty, a nice place to relax, full of flowers, shops, nice vegetation. There are beautiful buildings around the circle that forms the plaza with a nice water fountain in the middle. Your classic plaza structure, white walls buildings, flowers around. Not too lively, some outdoor restaurants closed, an empty gazebo, more like a place for locals to hang out. Some stores were closed, so it was hard to do any shopping. But that's how it is in Spain. Less shopping, more experiences! Glad I enjoyed pretty corners like Plaza de las Flores. Cozy, cute, charming!
