Met my sister and her friends at Nod Hill Brewery this evening. Easy to find. Lots of parking. Crisp and clean tap room that is nicely decorated. Bartenders were cordial. We tried a few of their beers. Did 5 oz. samples before deciding on 2 growler fills. The beer is good, but not outstanding. I will go back to try more. No reason not to try this new brewery. Place has lots of potential, but they really need a tiny bit of food and the beers weren't that great. The IPA in particular has a grass and onion flavor which was bizarre and I didn't get that taste when I had the same beer from Nod Hill at Tiger's Den in Ridgefield. The Queen beer was a big hit at our table of 6 as everyone liked it. The single IPA as mentioned was gross, and the double IPA was very good, but is impossible to drink with no food around. read more

The staff is extremely friendly and the brewery is very clean (design and the cleanliness). Burritos are Delicious, beer wasn't anything fantastic, but well executed. I am intrigued by the number of neutral and negative reviews for Nod Hill. The principal gripe seems to be that the beers suck. I visited Nod Hill around the time they opened, have been back several times over the months, and plan to return again soon. By and large, many reviewers here seemed focused on just one beer style: the IPA. I counted several reviewers who apparently only drank IPAs. Others dismissed Nod Hill's other styles, and I suspect they, too, prefer the IPA. I am not saying these reviewers aren't entitled to their reviews--of course they are--but that Nod Hill deserves a perspective from someone who appreciates multiple styles of beer. What I love about Nod Hill is that they are not like so many other Connecticut breweries that load their taps with IPAs, DIPAs, TIPAs, Session IPAs, NEIPAs, X-IPAs, and whatever other IPA struggles to make a name for itself. There are plenty of taproom menus around the state that comprise 50-70% IPAs. Don't get me wrong; I love IPAs, too. Sometimes, though, I want a lager or biere de garde treated with the same passion that so many brewers put into their IPAs. For me, Nod Hill does that, and they keep doing that. Nod Hill's menu is a lot like its taproom: curated, somewhat minimal, and brought to life with a touch of the sensual. Despite its relatively few taps, the brewery maintains an impressive and interesting selection. Few other breweries, for example, dedicate taps to Belgian-style beers devotedly brewed with Belgian yeasts. Other beers, often regarded as commonplace supplements to their hoppier cousins, are brewed with curiosity and vigor. One of the best porters I have ever had came from the lines of Nod Hill. Why? Because it was, to me, how a porter ought to taste. Did it blow me away? Definitely not. Nor should it have. Its triumph was in its balance, color, roast, head, and temperature--brewed consistently over and over. With such an emphasis on big and heavy IPAs, I fear the nuance of Nod Hill's beers that make them so wonderful will get lost on many lupulin-drenched palates. Already, it is apparent that those expecting the extraordinary may feel disappointed. But please know that there is more to beer variety than whether it is hazy or whether the hop profile is citrusy, grassy, dank, melon, or whatever. Please know that beer consists of other ingredients, and many of us appreciate the care given to those. Please know that very few breweries seem to care about that. Nod Hill, thankfully, is not one of them. read more

I'm a big fan of this place. The beers are great and the space is inviting but what I love most about it is how incredibly welcoming and helpful the staff are. Everyone clearly enjoys working there, definitely knows the beers they're selling and want their customers to be happy. I've seen other reviews mention that they don't have food service but every night I've been there, there's been a food truck in the parking lot that will bring your order to your table. And now they have a big outdoor beer garden when the whether allows. Bottom line: it's the kind of inclusive, high quality local business that I love supporting. Go to there! read more

I like this place. It's really cool when you can get beer like this...fresh, straight from the source! I went with a few people and I had a beer flight to try out all of their beers. $3 per 5oz. Pretty good. The place was absolutely packed. It's everything you could hope for with the standards you would expect. They had some snacks and a nice cheese plate, and also charcuterie plate. Simple and efficient. It's not trying to be anything more than it should be. These offerings all go very well together. You can get growlers here too. It's just very exciting to see a place like this pop up in Ridgefield. I definitely will be back again some time. Go check it out! read more

Not sure if the negative review here where showing some growing pains or just posted by super beer snobs but my only complaint with my first trip here was I had to be somewhere so I couldn't hang out longer! The tap room is a nicely rehabbed industrial space with a good amount of seating and a nice bar. A smart design element I haven't seen too many places is they actually have a growler fill station around the corner from the bar near the actual brewing area. Beers were varied an mostly good to great. I had one beer that I found a little boring but it was kind of a boring style so what do you expect. We bought a couple beers to drink there and growlers and cans to take with us. Really liked the IPAs and Double IPAs also the Imperial stout was very solid. The staff was nice and friendly. So. I was so excited for this place to open--finally something fun opening in Ridgefield that's a little different than the typical pizza restaurant. Decided to check this place out after about a week of it's opening--sadly mistaken... The place was cool, and comfortable. But the beer left something to desire. They claimed the different flavors, but everything was lacking some sort of depth and definition of flavor. You're IPA tasted worse than a miller light, and your porter was completely undrinkable--like a cold coffee sitting for too long... If I wanted a bud light or something of similar level, I would have gone elsewhere and ordered one. But I have high hopes you'll make your mark and figure it out... read more

My wife and I came here to sample the beers and the food truck. The taproom offered 5oz pours so we sampled all 9 beers on tap. Good selection of lagers and IPAs. All beers were well made and flawless. I especially liked the Saison and my wife liked the Ace of Wands Belgian single. We both had the Cuban sandwich from the food truck. It was the best Cuban sandwich I have had - made of smoked pork that was delicious. Also recommend the fries with aioli sauce. Loved the taproom and the Biergarten alike. They also have a back room at the taproom that was closed but it looks nice. Will be back again for sure read more

Great space, great beers, don't forget to bring your own snacks. Went with my daughter - we had 2 of the tasting boards - 4 smallish beers each, I wanted to try all that they offered. The stouts were great, the lighter beers tasty, nothing overly hoppy but still rich round flavors. We brought a deck of cards- as had others there, played some gin and drank some beer. People around us had brought cheese, Hummus and chips or other small noshes ( they were obviously in the know veterans) . Occasionally there is a pizza truck outside but I've been told, bringing your own is a-ok. You can share communal tables, stand at the standing bar along the wall, or sit in their stuffed chairs if you get lucky. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly - I took 2 growlers home to enjoy and will be back for refills! read more

They may have corrected this problem since the last time I was there, however, they do not serve food at their establishment. I believe you can bring outside food because of this. That all said, the place is great, the beer is tasty, and it's a great little hang out spot after work. read more

The stretch of Route 7 north of 102 and south of the 35 split has been something of a no man's land, but not any more. With the arrival of Nod Hill Brewery- a destination worth exploring as it is filled with a good selection of home brewed beers that are served in a great space which is well conceived. Tried a pint of Reflectsha (DIPA) at a local restaurant (My Place) and was so impressed that we went to the brewery the next day...and the day after! Tried the canned Super Mantis (DIPA), which I also loved, and the Geobunny IPA. Liked the Geobunny but it was hard to even think about it after trying the other two beers. We will definitely come back as we didn't get to try many others mostly because we were obsessed with the Reflectsha. Prices were good and 2/3 of the bartenders we had were great. One guy was super cranky and had a bad attitude both days we saw him but there was a lady and another guy that were both great. That place looks like it would be great to work at, hope he cheers up! We are in the area yearly and will def be returning. read more
