This tucked away boteco was a real find on a hazy Saturday afternoon. My group and I hiked up the…read moresteep terrain in Laranjeiras to score some late afternoon feijoada. Once we made it up, we found Cardosão, a quaint and bustling neighborhood restaurant. The spot was busy, but not so much so that it took more than 10 minutes to score a table for 7. The menu is varied, but offers all the Brazilian staples you'd expect (and hope for) at a typical boteco. As tradition would have it, we ordered the feijoada and a few different shots of cachaça. This place has a great selection of the stuff, so be sure to experiment. Once our food arrived, we savored every bite of the perfectly prepared stew and washed it down with sips of beer. All in all, this place is spot-on when it comes to properly enjoying a weekend lunch and if you're lucky, you may even see a monkey or two making their way across the power lines.
