This is probably the busiest restaurant in Palmer. It is a quintessential diner, and has "Alaskan" decor with mounts all over the restaurant including a large brown bear in the case up front. The restaurant had a lot of spunk with a sassy menu and signs everywhere. It is everything a diner should be, and is charming. We came on a Sunday at peak brunch time so there was about a 15 minute wait. I'm not sure if you can make reservations, but they seem to try to get people seated fairly quickly. Service was good. Friendly, and fast. Coffee refills for my husband were abundant, and our waters were also filled frequently. Food is your typical greasy spoon diner fare. We ordered skillets, which is our favorite savory breakfast item. I liked that choice of sides included French toast or pancakes. I always like something a little sweet with my savory breakfast. Portions on the skillet were decent, but I wouldn't say they are huge. Flavors were very good, and the food wasn't overly greased up. We were convinced to end our meal with pie which isn't our typical breakfast move, but I was happy our server talked us into it. The pie was excellent! I arrived for a quasi-celebratory early dinner (around 4:30 pm). I was greeted within about five minutes and sat at a booth near the heater. This was nice since it was drizzling and chilly outside. I had never been here before so I took a moment to peruse the menu and decor. I loved both! The signs/pictures on the wall are amusing. The FAQ section of the menu dictated that I would definitely be back (and I hadn't even ordered). Quite a few giggles were had. Their unsweetened tea is brewed fresh; and for a tea 'connoisseur', it was really good. Sheri was my waitress. Her friendly attitude and excellent dining suggestions made it an even better experience. I ordered the chicken fried chicken, by recommendation. I've never had chicken-fried-anything before and this sandwich was very tasty. It comes with lettuce, onions, pickles, and light mayo, with one side (like fries or mashed potatoes). As I was finishing dinner, she came by with a handwritten list of the pies they have. I joked with her and mentioned I'd like a picture menu, because I certainly wasn't going to ask what was in them. (The FAQ section of their menu pokes fun, in an amusing way, at those that ask such questions). We got a good laugh and I ordered cherry for there and apple to go. The cherry was warm, the apple - room temp. When I finished, Sheri brought the check and I handed her my card without looking at it. It was a bit of a surprise to find I paid about $8/per slice of pie. Chicken sandwich, mashed potatoes and two slices of pie = $33 and change. This seems excessive to me. Maybe that's just my lower-48 brain engaging? Sticker shock is the only reason for the four stars, instead of five. My brother thinks this place is a glorified IHOP. I disagree. Stopped here on a Thursday morning early. Before 6:30am it's a hoot, with with groups of seniors and regulars laughing with staff. Great service, greeted and welcomed, water and coffee almost immediately. They have great colorful classic shape coffee cups. When asked for cream, I inquired if they had soy or another alternative. They checked for me and brought me some almond milk - extra points for having a non-dairy alternative, love it! Ordered reindeer sausage breakfast with two eggs. Comes with choice of pancake or bread or muffin - a bonus if you want a little sweetness with some syrup on a pancake as breakfast dessert. Decor is interesting and appropriate. Mostly cute signs and antlers on the walls instead of dead animals staring at you, apart from some birds, a welcome change from some places. Eggs were cooked perfectly over hard, hash browns crispy outside and steamy hot and fresh inside. Reindeer sausage to me was salty and like kielbasa, it was my first time having it so I don't know if that is usual. Two pancakes were fluffy and good. I asked for birch syrup but they only have the generic maple that is standard for diners, understandable. $20 for everything was a fine price point to me. Wonderful views up the valley and the surrounding mountains make it a great spot for a morning refuel. I was out of there in an unhurried 30 minutes, caffeinated, full and happy. Loved the vibe when we walked in, reminded me of a local restaurant we used to go to when I was a kid where everyone knew everyone. Great spot for breakfast or lunch. I ordered the fried chicken and it didn't disappoint. It was definitely one of the best tasting fried chicken I have ever had. Kids ate from their all day breakfast menu and they all loved it. Servers were very kind and attentive. We loved reading all of the fun signs they had posted everywhere. Was traveling through throughout the area on a recent trip to Anchorage and was excited to see the great reviews for The Noisy Goose. Stopped in and was sadly disappointed. Once you arrive you stand by the door and hope that somebody notices you. The first server told us it would be a minute. The second server told us she would be right back. Finally a server returned and took us to an open table in the middle of the restaurant. The decor is lovely and very cozy. The menu has a to of options so it takes some time to figure out what you'd like to order. We ordered a couple of items with excitement and kept ourselves busy with the trivia left on the table. The corn fritters were quite good. Warm and tasty with a spreadable honey butter than topped them off quite well. For my main I got the meatloaf - it was a mistake. The meat was dry, the potatoes were decent and the gravy was horrendous. Not only did it have a film over it when it came to the table, but it had a taste that stuck in the back of your mouth all day long. I attempted to scrape it off most of the plate, but it was no use. We also had a dipped sandwich. The dipping sauce was quite flavorful but the sandwich was mostly bread. For the price I was expecting wholesome home cooking and was sadly let down. Great little place with good food and friendly service. We stopped in after an event at the state fair grounds on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy abs there was a little wait but the people were friendly and it had a very down home vibe you can't help but love. Once seated we ordered fish and chips and it was served very fast.
