I tried this place for the first time with my family to celebrate one of my cousins graduation from residency. We started off with a round of champagne and a bottle of red wine for dinner. We tried a variety of dishes since we were told that the set up is family style: Hamachi Crudo: 10/10 one of the best I've ever had! Super fresh and the sauce paired well with it. Bluefin Tune Crudo: 8/10 It was really fresh and well prepared, but I've had better elsewhere. I typically prefer bluefin tuna sashimi or nigiri anyway. Tuna Crispy Rice: 9/10 This was such a fun and delicious way to eat spicy tuna! All of the seasonings made it packed full of flavor. Tomahawk Ribeye 9/10: This was insanely tender, and well seasoned. Tip: ask for lemon wedges to sprinkle some lemon juice on it--thank me later. Broccolini 8/10: well prepared, and I loved the lemongrass garlic chili that topped it East Side Shrimp 7/10: These were well cooked and well seasoned. Loved the salad placed underneath it. Wagyu Tartare 8/10: It was well prepared and loved that it's paired with nori and rice. Wished it had a bit more punch to it in terms of seasoning. Crab Fried Rice 8/10: this was delicious but still say it's a solid 8. Beautifully prepared! Korean Hot Wings 2.5/10: I could tell that it was well cooked, but it was insanely salty; it was practically inedible. Hurricane Fries 9/10: These were so delicious! You are immediately hit with the smell of truffle, which made my mouth water. Packed with flavor! Brussels 7/10: These were well roasted, but the sauce was a tad too sweet for my liking. We've been excited to finally try Noko and it definitely exceeded our expectations. We ordered the ube colada, anti hero, and an old fashioned for our cocktails. They're all wonderful but the old fashioned is my favorite. For our appetizer we got the crispy tuna rice and the Brussel sprouts, oh my goodness they are terrific! We've never had crispy tuna rice before, so yummy! At this point with everything we had so far, we were getting pretty excited for "the pièce de résistance" The 42 oz Tomahawk steak! It arrived in all its glory and man oh man was that the best Tomahawk steak we've ever had. It just melts in your mouth. Worth every single penny! And then as if it couldn't get any better, we got the coconut cake. Do yourself a favor and get this dessert. My favorite coconut cake ever! Back for a second culinary tour at Noko, service was 5 stars with a slight l dip in some dishes. We loved the Hamachi crudo so much last time, but it was not near as fresh this visit. The tuna was great. The broccolini was good and fresh. I wish more basil was served with the burnt ends. We picked this place to celebrate our anniversary and I'm so glad we did. We were originally sitted inside but the AC was blasting on us, so we asked to be moved to the patio instead. Luckily, they were able to clear a table for us outside; the weather was perfect for the patio. My absolute favorites were bluefin tuna crudo, tuna crispy rice and the A5 wagyu teppanyaki. This is unfortunately my favorite restaurant in all of Nashville. It's only unfortunate because it's everyone's favorite too and walk-ins are basically obsolete as a result. This is not over-hyped, this is genuinely the real deal. If you go on a week night early enough you can usually try to snag a bar seat. I've never had luck getting a walk in on the patio. Reservations aren't at all difficult to get but I hate not being able to go on a whim when I'm craving it. Unfortunately the food doesn't travel well so to-go is not ideal if you don't live in East Nashville. We discovered Noko on TikTok and made a reservation for 5 pm (right when they open). Located in East Nashville, this side of town is quieter and less chaotic. As a tapas-style restaurant, our server suggested ordering 2-3 plates per person. We ended up ordering 6 and found them to be filling enough. Here's what we tried: * Noko Old Fashioned ($15): Made with Wagyu fat washed Buffalo Trace single barrel, oolong demerara. * Anti-Hero Cocktail ($11): YUM! * Salmon Carpaccio ($16): A-OK. Probably the best of the three fresh cut plates. * Blue Fin Tuna Crudo ($21): A-OK. I liked the fried shallot toppings, but parts of the tuna cuts were brown on the edges. * Hamachi Crudo ($17): Probably my least favorite due to all the yuzu ponzu sauce. * Tuna Crispy Rice ($14): Tasty. The rice was in face very crispy and the tuna was good. * Lobster Bao Buns ($18): My favorite of the night! The buns were slightly crisp and the lobster buns were very flavorful. * Wagyu Tartare ($19): My second favorite of the night. The wagyu tartare was very tasty. The seaweed paper seemed less crispy than I'm used to but overall still good. The salmon, tuna, and hamachi all tasted remarkably similar. Both the salmon and tuna were served with ponzu and wasabi relish, and the cuts were quite small, even the hamachi was even smaller. While the quality is high for an upscale sushi restaurant in a landlocked location, I've had better sushi elsewhere. Service was good. Initially our server took quite some time to come back to take our order after taking our drink orders, but besides that everything went without a hitch. Noko is a great spot for date night with low light setting and table candles. Also, the restrooms are spacious and clean. This is such a lovely restaurant! We came here for our anniversary this year and we had a wonderful time. It was our first time here so we tried a variety of dishes including the crab fried rice, Szechuan green beans, dumplings, and "burnt ends" lettuce wraps and we ended up trying the hurricane fries as well when they had accidentally made an extra order. All of the dishes were delicious and flavorful and we really enjoyed them all. We had looked at the menu ahead of time so we knew we wanted to save room for dessert and it was well worth it! We had a gelato flight (vanilla bean, pandan, and ube) and Dole whip and these were phenomenal; we would 100% come back again just to get dessert. They were also lovely enough to give us a coconut cake for our anniversary (first time trying it and it was great!) and we almost had the entire dessert menu haha. Service was fantastic throughout the meal and we felt well-care for here. Our Nashville stay was a short two days and we wanted to spend most of our time in the Broadway Honkeytonks, so I had to choose our one nice meal out wisely. After pouring over Yelp reviews and menus, I picked Noko and managed to snag a reservation when someone cancelled. The night of our reservation, we took a Lyft to the restaurant, which made us a little late. Upon calling to notify them of our delay, they were very understanding and appreciative. My first impression of the restaurant was overwhelmingly positive. It is beautifully decorated, quieter than most and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The drinks and food were amazing. My husband & I started out with a Toki Ball and an Ube Colada, both of wich were very tasty and unique. Our dinner included the following in order of awesomeness: Tuna Crispy Rice Hamachi Crudo "Burnt Ends" Lettuce Wraps Lobster Bao Buns Crab Fried Rice Tiger Prawns Everything was delicious, but the first three listed were espcecially outstanding. TL; DR: Lovely dining experience, everything was good. Parking was very easy, though I did have to scuttle down a ways from the restaurant. I was greeted immediately, and because there was just one of me instead of two (I had placed a reservation for 2 but plans changed), I opted to sit at the bar. I had a nice view of the wood fire grill, which was cool. However, I sat between two couples and wound up not making any conversation. I ordered the east side shrimp, the crab fried rice, the teppenyaki, a mocktail and, because it was my first time, they surprised me with the crispy rice! The shrimp was tender, perfectly fried, not too much bite but also not too sweet. Definitely my favorite dish of the evening. The fried rice was good, there was a nice chunk of crab right in the center, but nothing to write home about. The crispy rice, which is their most popular dish, I think was objectively, very nicely executed. There was a healthy serving of tuna, the rice was crispy (as advertised), and the balsamic glaze added a lovely balance. But, subjectively, the tuna was a little spicy for me (this is on me, I have no tolerance for spice) and in general... I don't really love tuna LOL. So, certainly not a reflection of Noko, I just didn't love this dish. Then there was the Teppenyaki. It was fun getting to grill my own meat, I enjoy K-BBQ so this was similar, though the oil spattering is no joke. And, again, this may just be the nature of Wagyu steak (I don't ever have it), so not a reflection of Noko, but it tasted fatty and almost overwhelmingly greasy. Again, it may just be that Wagyu is not for me, though. Finally, I ordered the mocktail, which was possibly the highlight for me. It was extremely refreshing, delightfully sweet and well-rounded with the herby basil. Peyton, my bartender/waiter for the evening was delightful! Extremely attentive, boxed my leftovers, recommended the mocktail, and was very personable. I think my experience was affected largely because of the hype I had heard from multiple people surrounding this restaurant. I was expecting, for the ~125$ tab, to have some sort of orgasmic, spiritual experience LOL. Certainly didn't have that experience, but it also wasn't a waste of money, either! Additionally, I didn't go with people, which is the recommended way to go. I will definitely give Noko another shot with more people and a more diverse ordering plan! read more
