Ordered our 16 foot "yurt in a box" over a year ago and had great communication with the people from NS from start to finish. The delivery and drop off was very smooth. My husband and I put the yurt together in a day and a half. Everything we needed was in the box: silicon, drip ring, and all the screws. The screws were in individual baggies and labeled. It looks like the employees of NS love their jobs because the attention to detail of the outside cover, the stitching, the custom door, the packing of the box- all of it! We even FaceTimed them to ask a question and they were very helpful. Highly recommend- looking forward to buying a bigger one next time! read more

I purchased a 40 foot yurt from Nomad Shelter in the summer of 2017. I upgraded my doors and windows, requiring changes to be made to the original design. The yurt arrived, exactly to my specifications. Nomad Shelter is a small family owned business. They were unable to keep to our original timeline, pushing it out twice. That is why 4 stars instead of 5. My yurt is quality workmanship. It has an open floor plan, with a bedroom, and combination bathroom/laundry room on the main floor, and 2 additional bedrooms upstairs (2 loft rooms). I highly recommend Nomad Shelter, especially if you have a flexible schedule. read more

Do not do business with this company. I have filed a complaint with the BBB as well as lodged my complaint on Google reviews of the company. Read google reviews for full details. Bottom line, company has not provided product when agreed upon one year in advance. Company has provided incomplete product and keeps stating either the rest will be shipped to me, or now it is on back order. Product is damage from issue inside work building. Company paid additional for upgrades that now they do not provide and just tells me to eat the loss. Company owner stated they have to wait for people to order yurts to provide me mine since they spent the money they received from me already. Don't do business with this company. read more

I moved to Alaska in the summer of 2014. My brother bought a acre of land in Homer, and I moved up to team up and tame this frontier. I have bought two yurts from Nomad Shelter Yurts, and I'm very pleased. They were very pleasant to do business with. They went above and beyond in my experiences! My first yurt was a 14'er, I asked them to make my cover a little big so I could sneak some rtex insulation boards in behind my four season liner. I use a toyo oil stove for heat, so I wanted to retain as much heat as I could. This yurt was my way to break out of the rental market. I added on a little room on the back for my closet and a Arctic entryway. I'm as happy and warm as could be! My second purchase from Nomad Shelter Yurts was a 16' yurt last winter. I love this yurt so much! It's my dream come true! I put this yurt up on a 3' pony wall and got a total of 10' on my walls. I put a loft in for sleeping and it increased my yurt dramatically! I'm saving up for my ultimate dream house which is a 30' yurt. I cant wait till I can work with Nomad Shelter Yurts again. They are the finest quality, and I love that there made in Alaska! read more

Our 20' yurt arrived on time and with all the extras we requested, and we paid extra to have them put it up, which worked very well.(Georgie rocks!) The workmanship was exemplary, obviously crafted by folks who pride themselves on going the extra mile to accommodate the harsh Alaskan winters...worth every penny. The quality of these awesome structures is reflected in their being quite busy year round but its definitely worth the lead time as each one is custom made to order and with individual attention given to each customers unique needs. i had them build a beautiful wrap around porch entryway with three steps that has enough room for my firewood fish tote which simplifies winter use tremendously. Will be ordering more as the need arises, loved doing business with these artisans. I for one am very impressed with the quality of their yurts, from materials to craftsmanship, they seem to take care of their product. Granted they are not the most timely. My yurt was two weeks later than they had promised me when I made my order several months ago. None the less, they were accommodating when I wanted to add another framed window to my yurt. I will definitely be ordering another yurt when my son is old enough to move out of our big yurt. read more

I love Nomad Shelter yurts. They are sturdy, warm and hold up to the harsh Alaskan winters, no problem. Their standard yurts include features that cost extra when buying from yurt companies in the Lower 48. I also really enjoyed dealing with Jess and Lee, Nomad's owners. They are a mom and pop operation so very personable and down-to-earth. And the product is made with detailed craftsmanship. Highly recommended! read more
