Came back here on a random Sunday night for early dinner. We came back here because we've had some really great experiences in the past for which I have not provided an updated review. I thought it was time now. Again, great attentive service even though it looks like their staff is pretty lean. Consistent food quality as well. Portions here are definitely fair for the price consider considering the amount of competition that is also serving similar food items off their menu. Love that a family of three can have dinner appetizers and not break the bank here. Hard to do that around Cook County, especially in this Glenview area. Glad that the menu is also expanded to include sushi because if I recall correctly, my very first visit here right after they had their grand opening it did not include sushi at the time. Will definitely be coming back here again and again.

Good ramen and sushi. The service was quick and seating was average. We're constantly looking for a good ramen house and this was in the top 10 of us. I'd give it a shot if you haven't. Worth a try. Enjoy

This was our second time dining in Nomu Ramen and Izakaya in Glenview, and it has become a nice and reliable restaurant for us when we crave for ramen or other Japanese plates. The restaurant is airy and modern looking, décor is tastefully done, and has a nice and relaxed vibe. We just wanted a simple and relaxing meal with comfort food after a full day of activities. Since it was a Saturday, we made a reservation through Opentable.com just in case. It turned out to be a smart move, as the restaurant was packed when we arrived at 7:00 pm at our reserved time. We got the last table that was close to the front door and the bar, but it was still a fine table. My wife and daughter each got a Tonkotsau Shoyu Ramen ($28.98 for 2) again, the same ramen that they had last time, since they both enjoyed it so much. Last time I had the Miso Ramen that was good; this time I ordered an Unagidon ($20.99), that was marinated eel over warm sushi rice. It was tasty and satiating. A flavorful Miso Soup was also included. We also shared an appetizer of Fried Mini Octopus ($10.99), which was flavorful and had a nice perfect crisp to it. Our daughter and I each had an Asahi Draft beer ($16.00 for 2), and my wife had a hot green tea ($3.00). Everything was priced reasonably. The total bill came up to $103.76 with tips and tax included. The serving staff have been very friendly and efficient. We truly enjoy our meals at Nomu Ramen and Izakaya, and it is only about 3.4 miles away from home. We will be happy to return again and again!

I've had a ramen craving for weeks now that I haven't been able to shake. Sure I travel a lot, but I make it a rule not to have ramen(or any international dish) in cities absent of the population of the cuisine I am looking to have. Lucky for me, the Chicago area is one of the most well represented diverse cities our country has to offer! Surely this is going to be a sure bet....right? Right??? Enter Nomu Ramen. First impressions? Absolutely stunning. It's open, spacious, and bright. From the wall art to the plating and cutlery, the beauty is in the details. Honestly one of the nicest ramen spots I've been to, anywhere. But I came here to eat, and unfortunately that's where this roller coaster starts its descent. Let's start with the positives shumai crispy and delicious. The mini octopus appetizer is flawless. Perfectly fried and beautifully seasoned. The star of the show actually. The ramen egg in my bowl was actually one of the best ramen eggs I've had. But the ramen itself? Disappointing. The broth is one note, lacking any depth of flavor. The bowl doesn't feature any contrasting textural elements(corn, bamboo, woodear mushroom). Just onions, egg, chasu, and the most egregiously overcooked noodles I've ever had. So much so that half my noodles would break apart just in the attempt to lift them out of the bowl. I like to think that I'm a positive guide. Sure there's some good elements here, but I simply cannot overlook the flagrant ball dropping of the noodles.....and really this bowl of ramen as a whole. Sorry Nomu, I gave it my best shot....

Had some great Japanese food at this casually classy restaurant in Glenview. It specializes in ramen so of course you should get it. Nomu Ramen & Izakaya is one of many Asian restaurants located in this one plaza. Can be hard telling these all apart. This is located on the end so this makes it easier to find thankfully. Coming here the first time we had to look awhile before we found it. It's like every restaurant here is Asian so it was confusing to find the correct one. They have a bar inside where you can get cocktails so it's actually a kind of classy place. Not too much of one thankfully at least. Of course the prices on some things are pretty expensive though. It's about $11 for the cheapest cocktails. There's ones that are made with sake if you like those. I got the Niwashi, The Gardener. This is made with muddled cucumber, elderflower, lime, mint, and Roku gin, fizzy and strong. We got ramen because it's of course the main thing. A lot of these to choose. It's about $15 for a ramen entree. There's a lot that are meaty, but a few are okay for vegetarians. I got the Yasai Curry Ramen. This has creamy umami vegetable broth seasoned with Japanese curry, along with vegetable noodles made with kale, along with vegetables and topped with tofu. It was hot at first. This is a great thing to get if feeling sick and needing to warm up and stuff. Great place to try some better than average ramen and other Japanese favorites. It's located in the plaza with all the other Asian restaurants. This is one of those restaurants that closes between lunch and dinner except on weekends.

Probably by far, the best Ramen I ever had. This place is kind of a hidden gem, quite literally, as it's located near the back of the strip mall which has very enticing restaurants all over. I ordered the tonkatsu shio ramen. It came with these slices of meat that was tender and full of flavor. Soft boiled egg was on point. Noodles were not too skinny, just perfect bounce and taste and the amount in the broth was perfect. Speaking of broth, it was chance-your-pants good. So flavorful, creamy, and was the perfect ratio to the ramen topics. I mean, seriously, the best I had. Service was good, we got our waters filled promptly, and overall dining experience was great. I would definitely recommend this place if you're into Ramen! BATHROOM REVIEW: the bathrooms were located separately from the restaurant, near the back. Go out the restaurant, and there's plenty of signs that direct you to the bathrooms. Inside, there urinals and stalls. Urinals were functional as well as the sink and soap. Sit or squat? Squat

This is my review of Nomu Ramen and Izakaya. If you've read my previous reviews you know I'm a ramen connoisseur and I know my Japanese ramen. It's my jam. My wife and I were in the area and we wanted lunch. I opened up my trusty Yelp app and looked in the area for some choices. The first thing that jumped out at us was ramen and we were sold and we decided to stop here on new years day for lunch. We arrived and the place is modern with a touch of Japanese flair. We like it. We were promptly seated and began our lunch at Nomu. We briefly reviewed the appetizers and the Potato Croquette and the corn cheese quickly jumped out at me and we did those choices for apps. Then for ramen we went with the Miso Ramen. After we ordered we took in the vibes of the place and it was pleasant. Plenty of people filling up the space and it was nice and cozy. First to arrive were the potato croquette and this was really good. Crispy and crunchy on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. My wife really enjoyed this. Up next was the corn cheese and for this dish it's really hard to mess up and they nailed it. The cheese was melty and yummy and pro-tip....I paired the Potato Croquette with the corn cheese and this was delicious. Good job Nomu. Next up was the main event and if you've read my previous ramen reviews you know that I break my ramen reviews into 4 separate parts with the broth being the most important part of the dish. If you don't have good broth then you don't have good ramen. We went in and took our first sip of broth and the broth is good and flavorful. It has that rich creamy umami taste that you would expect from a good bowl of ramen. HOWEVER, we did run into a slight issue. When it came out we took a sip broth and it was on the colder side. Then we went to take a bite of the egg and that was cold also. We informed our server that all we wanted was for them to reheat the bowl and NOT to make a new one. So what do that do? They went ahead and made a new one. Strike 1. So we had to wait even longer for them to remake the ramen. After the ramen was remade it was brought out to us by the chef and he explained to us that the egg is cold on purpose as it's kept refrigerated. My wife has never experienced this before but I have during my travels as different chefs keeps their egg marinaded in soy in the fridge before plating. So to me it wasn't a big deal and it could have be solved by simply nuking it in the microwave. So when our new bowl of ramen arrived it was still luke warm! I couldn't believe it. Ugh. Then next up is the noodles. The noodles should have a bouncy chewy texture and Nomu's noodles didn't have any of this. They were just flat texture and really didn't have any chew. Up next is the protein of the dish and the chasu was good, really good and tender actually. The last part are the toppings and the egg was OK. Overall it was just an OK bowl of ramen. I'd defiantly go back to to the Potato Croquette and corn cheese again. That was freaking delicious! So if you're looking for a good vibe, ok ramen, and damn good apps then Nomu is your place for you!

I was drawn in by an enticing photo of noodles that Yelp sent me for Nomu Ramen and Izakaya. After reading several positive reviews on Yelp and finding myself craving ramen, we decided to stop by for a casual dinner. The fact that Nomu is only 3.5 miles from home made it an easy choice! Nomu is tucked into a strip mall in Glenview that's home to a variety of Korean restaurants and eateries. The exterior is quite plain, but once inside, we were pleasantly surprised by the spacious, modern, and clean interior. The vibe was trendy yet relaxed. We visited on a Tuesday evening and found the restaurant fairly quiet, with plenty of open tables. The hostess let us choose our own seat, so we picked a cozy booth with high-back seats near the bar. Background music was playing some upbeat Latin pop or K-pop, which added energy to the space without being too loud. Our server was a friendly young woman who was both polite and attentive throughout our meal. To start, we shared an order of Takoyaki. There were seven golden-brown balls served in a small cast iron takoyaki pan and topped generously with bonito flakes. Each ball had a couple of small pieces of octopus, though they were mostly batter. Still, they tasted fresh and the flavor was great, we really enjoyed them. For the main course, my daughter and I both ordered the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. Each bowl came with three rectangular slices of chashu, which were different from the round ones shown in the photos, but they were nicely lean with just enough fat for flavor. The half-boiled egg was cooked to perfection, the noodles had an ideal texture, and the broth was rich and flavorful. The portion was just right for me, though my daughter ended up with some leftovers. My husband had the Miso Ramen and enjoyed his bowl as well. We all ordered hot green tea, which came in what looked like a 12-ounce mug with a quality tea bag. The meal was simple, but satisfying and comforting. By the time we left after 8 p.m., there were still about five tables occupied, which felt nicely quiet for a Tuesday night. Overall, we had a great experience and are looking forward to coming back to try more items from the menu.

This time around I came here on a Friday night and had the Yuzu Shoyu Ramen but I did not like it as much as the first time. I thought that the broth was extremely salty and there were more ramen noodles than broth. The pork belly in my opinion was not very fresh. Overall not as impressed as the first time.

Nomu Ramen and Izakaya is a great Asian restaurant. My husband and I went there to meet some friends. We had the corn cheese and bacon okonomiyaki. Both were great but I couldn't get enough of the okonomiyaki. For an entree, I had the ramen. It was fantastic. The broth was very flavorful. While the portions were not huge, the quality of the ingredients was very good. The serves were very nice.

Came back on my way through the area again and hit the spot. A friendly staff, cozy spot especially on a cold afternoon for a hot pot of nabeyaki udon!

Beef Striploin Skewer

Came in by myself to watch the new episode of invincible and enjoy some ramen. The moment I walked in I was greeted nicely, and the theme and ambiance of the place was pretty classy with a cool bar area. The food was brought out pretty quickly and they gave me the beef skewer complementary to try for free! It was delicious and I really felt taken care of. Personally I'm a fan of thick noodles rather than the skinny ones served but the soup was so good and pork so tender it made up for it! Will return.

First time trying this place and it didnt disappoint! Service was great! And place looked nice. I wished they didnt sit us by the bussing trays tho. I ordered a bunch of appetizers like the chicken karage, shrimp, tempura and takoyaki. The shrimp tempura wasnt that great but it wasnt bad. But the other two were a must try! We also ordered Ramen and it was really tasty very flavorful and the noodles they used was one of my favorite. I would definitely come back to try more sfuff on the menu! Happy eating!

I hadn't been since their renovation and made it there last Thursday. It was really cute ambiance - I loved the interior designer's work. The place has options of seating - inside and outside, ranging from metal chairs to comfortable upholstered benches. We got the tom kha to begin with, which my husband, who's not vegetarian, devoured. It was truly delicious! We then got the Kung Pao with mushrooms and it was incredible - the flavors, the choice of vegetables, the sauce - all of it! We also got a chow mein but with rice noodles - this was the one dish that could take some improvement. Granted, the original recipe calls for wheat noodles, and that might be really good, though our rice noodles version of it was came out soggy. Our server had clearly had a long day - she was tired and forgetful (didn't bring us rice and we had a hard time flagging her down to request it). She also just brought us the check after dinner, without asking if we wanted any dessert. All in all, highly recommend this place for delicious plant-based food.

The set up is definitely a little bit more fast food because you can order to counter and then get your food on a tray and sit down or you can order it from a kiosk as well. They also do takeout orders. The best part about this place besides the food and the ambience are just so cute and modern and clean is the staff and the manager. My family and I had been wanting to go to this location for a while and a recent weeknight presented a perfect opportunity to check out this establishment. Located in a small plaza in front of the Westin hotel, this Chicago Ramen is a nice little spot for grabbing a delicious bowl (or two) of ramen. Upon our arrival, we were seated promptly. Our friendly server provided the menus and shortly after was ready to take our order; however, we were not ready yet and took a bit longer to order. The menu was a condensed version of what I have seen at the Des Plaines location. There were six Ramen options, a handful of appetizers, extra toppings options, and beverage options. Also, there was a Ramen special menu and a Kids menu. A few minutes later, we placed our order of 1) Edamame, 1) Karage, 2) Shrimp Wonton Ramen, and 1) White Miso Ramen. The apps of Edamame and Karage came out soon and the ramen bowls followed shortly. The Karage were freshly cooked. The Karage were chunky, meaty and plump chicken nuggets. The meat was juicy and tender, and they were lightly battered. The flavor was decent and the texture was okay. I felt that a bit more frying would have helped it taste better. My Shrimp Wonton Ramen was the start dish for me. It was everything I wanted as far as the flavor of the broth and the texture of the noodles, shrimp, and wonton were concerned. The broth was hot and fresh. It had a nice savory flavor and I added some of the table side condiments for extra umami and spicy taste. The noodles were of the right texture where they had body and good slurp-a-bility factor without being soggy and sloppy. The White Miso Ramen was a nice creamy and rich broth that came loaded w/ cuts of pork that were tender. It was also delicious. I enjoyed my bowl of ramen a lot and managed to finish it instead of having leftovers. It hit the spot perfectly. We had a good experience and would go back. If you haven't been to this spot, then definitely check them out.
