Ordered the General Tsos combination special which comes with a choice of rice and egg roll or soup. Upon selecting options, I come to find out that the hot & sour soup is $1.00 extra. That's the first issue because the difference in cost of soups is $.45 on the regular menu. I paid the extra $1.00 and what I received was laughable. The soup I received was the size of a small dip container. I was shocked. Solid Chinese restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. I've ordered online for delivery a few times and I can say that it's consistently what you would expect in Americanized Chinese takeout. I've tried the fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, crab rangoon, maLa string beans, and the general Tso's with tofu. The portions are a good size and the prices are reasonable for what you get. The spring rolls and crab rangoon were yummy, I mean, you can't go wrong with anything fried. I really liked the string beans and they were just as good heated up. The fried rice wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, but also good heated up as a second meal. I'm really picky about tofu dishes because sauce makes tofu rather soggy after transporting, but it was pretty good. I've heard that Chinese restaurants with a 3.5 rating are the true hidden gems and I'm glad I gave them a try. I'd totally order here again whenever I'm in the mood for easy Chinese. read more

Grew up on Nongs since the early 90's, this is one restaurant that I will never order from again because the quality has sunk so unbelievably low it's not worth throwing money away on them. I got Kung Pao chicken, never had it and was trying something new. I unfortunately don't have the picture anymore but it showed up and it was LITERALLY 3/4 celery! Went to return it, the employee blamed it on me, said I need to put in instructions no celery. We have pork fried rice, lo mein, general Tso's chicken, and spring rolls. All very "Americanized" Chinese, but very nicely prepared. I walked inside to a very COVID-19 safe protocol to pay and grab your food. It was super quick in and out! The vegetable fried rice was pretty good but deff needed the soy sauce. They had asked me what spice level I wanted as well, which I said mild or basically none. For me it was about 2 meals worth of food which is normal for Chinese food entree. My search for a Thai restaurant will continue. It is not that the food was not good quality, just not up to the high bar that No Thai in Ann Arbor set. The service matched that high quality, the dish I tried didn't. The spiciness was just right for those of us who have acid reflux. You can ask for higher spice if that is your choice. The portion gave me 2 meals. Leftovers warmed up well. The noodles was just so MUCH wider than I am use to. Maybe I am like Goldilocks, one place the noodles were too narrow and this place too wide. Hopefully, the next place I try will be just right. For about $20 I got two hot entrees which each came with about a pint of yellow gravy and about two cups of steamed white rice. The wor su gai was basically fried chicken cut into strips with some peanuts crushed in the middle atop it then all over a bed of romaine. It was hot but bland. Stopped in mid-week for lunch but noticed the guy cooking was also serving/bussing/hosting so I decided to order to go-plus it was hot in there. Ordered a chicken egg roll and pad see ew beef with plenty of sauce. Guy hustled so food came out quick. Egg roll was just okay, a little dry and bland but the dipping sauce was good. I will probably go with veg spring roll next time. Pad see ew had tender beef, plenty of sauce, and while it was a bit sweeter than I prefer, it was still good. We had tried Nongs a few years ago and I didn't care for it so I was glad to see quality and taste improved. The only reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is because the place was hot, a little dingy, and when I tried to order takeout a couple days later no one answered the phone when they were supposed to be open. I bet it's been 10 years since my last time here and it hasn't changed one iota. It's a small place with a dining room probably smaller than your living room. Restaurant was kinda cold even though I sat half way back from the front window. Seat was ice cold although a few minutes of butt contact it warmed up just fine. I got the Phad Thai with Shrimp which was pretty decent (ordered medium spicy and it was). Portion was generous and had a nice mix of flavors with the noodles being just the right in between of firmness and chew. The Hot and Sour Soup was not the greatest but adding a little soy sauce helped it out. The lady that waited on me was super nice and took great care of me. I don't know, but it's the same place. Very small, a little dingy, not fancy. But excellent food. I got something from the "Thai Specialties" section, the Thai Dried Sukiyaki. Not sure what was dried about it; maybe just the noodles were dehydrated? Anyway, it was great. Came out steaming hot, and stayed hot the whole way through. I had pork in it; there was plenty, and it was flavorful and tender. The vermicelli were very sticky and infused with flavor. The veggies were decent. There's also a little bit of fried egg. I asked for medium heat, not knowing what their levels would be like, and it turned out to be enough to open my sinuses but not overpower the flavors in the dish. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. Portion was pretty large, and it was super cheap. Service was okay; I didn't need much, and they seemed busy in the kitchen. Pop is in cans. Parking was in a tiny lot, but luckily it wasn't busy mid-afternoon. Might be crazy during a rush. True Asian comfort food, at rock-bottom prices. read more

A lot of things here are made with a choice of meat or tofu. There are so many things I still need to try. Among the Chinese, there's about 20 entrees that are vegetarian. Most of these are made with tofu. There's many with flavors uncommon at other Chinese restaurants. It's about $7 to $8 for a lunch entree. The ones we've tried have all been good. Almost all can be made vegan by removing the eggs or a few things. I like the spicy bean curd. The pad thai menu is good, too. It's protein choices include a tofu option for each of them. The best ones are the eggplant in black bean sauce and the pad prick prow. The seating area is small and uncomfortable. It's best to order carryout. We always have a small conversation when I stop in and it's something I look forward to when visiting. The restaurant itself is (perhaps) cleaner and brighter, with a shiny new coat of paint, but so many great items are now missing from the menu and what's left is not terrific. We ordered Pad Thai (Chicken), which was okay, but the General Tso's Chicken and Orange Chicken were gross, practically inedible. The "chicken" pieces consisted of shreds of meat buried in way too much breading. We tossed most of it. Really no reason to go back. So, I decided to try out a new Chinese place tonight. I ordered takeout from Nong's - chicken and broccoli with fried rice. The lady who took my order over the phone was nice and she was also polite when I picked it up 15 minutes later. The menu on yelp states that chicken and broccoli costs $6.95 and includes either steamed or fried rice. I was charged $10.95 for my meal. I didn't argue, but now I'm wishing that I would have. I got home and discovered that I ordered some seriously disgusting Chinese food..... The fried rice was so densely packed in the container that it was mush when I tried to dig it out. I could tell that it was just steamed rice mixed with soy sauce. BThere were no eggs or vegetables in the rice at all. The chicken and broccoli was something I could have made at home. The sauce wasn't very flavorful, but was weirdly spicy. I usually give every restaurant at least two chances to impress me, but I will not be going back to this place. read more

Nong's has the BEST egg drop soup. Yes, I know, it's just egg drop soup, but after having Nong's, I don't like any body elses. Maybe it's because no where else makes a fresh soup for every order? What's that I say? Yes, They make it fresh to order! They also make their egg rolls from scratch. They use organic tofu and alot of organic veggies. As for their main dishes, I feel like they are 3 stars. Just A-OK ( a very decent pad thai), but for the service and the soup, 4 stars for sure. The people that run Nong's are super nice. It's a really quaint restaurant with only a few tables. I think they do mostly carry out. Their carry out containers are really sturdy. You'll not want to have to use the bathroom at Nong's unless you want to walk through the kitchen and be crammed into a room smaller than an airplane lavatory. But, everything is clean and that's awesome. I think Nong's is a place to give a try and get the egg drop soup for crying out loud (it's only $.1.75). I've had this bookmarked for a while, and finally ate there today. We were seated promptly, and I was immediately impressed by the huge variety on the menu - half of the menu features Thai dishes, the other Chinese. Tons of vegetarian options too. We started off with the Tom Yum Gai soup ($5ish), and were disappointed. It's not that it was bad, but it bore no resemblance to any TYG I've eaten before - no straw mushrooms, no lemon grass, no kaffir lime leaves, and none of that uniquely TYG flavor. We asked for it medium spicy but it didn't even remotely make my lips tingle (and I'm a wimp when it comes to spice). For entrees, he played it safe with Pad Thai with shrimp - eight nice big plump shrimp, plenty of fresh and crunchy beansprouts, perfectly cooked noodles, and a nice sprinkling of peanuts. Great flavor. I had the Pad See-Ew - pork with wide Thai noodles (I LOVE them!) with snow peas, bok choy, carrots and Chinese broccoli in a brown gravy. It wasn't terribly flavorful but everything was fresh, cooked perfectly, and great quality. Each entree was around $9ish, and the portions were enormous. I really regret not coming here sooner.
