    Spring rolls
    Jayme H.

Solid Chinese restaurant in Columbus, Ohio. I've ordered online for delivery a few times and I can say that it's consistently what you would expect in Americanized Chinese takeout. I've tried the fried rice, vegetable spring rolls, crab rangoon, maLa string beans, and the general Tso's with tofu. The portions are a good size and the prices are reasonable for what you get. The spring rolls and crab rangoon were yummy, I mean, you can't go wrong with anything fried. I really liked the string beans and they were just as good heated up. The fried rice wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, but also good heated up as a second meal. I'm really picky about tofu dishes because sauce makes tofu rather soggy after transporting, but it was pretty good. I've heard that Chinese restaurants with a 3.5 rating are the true hidden gems and I'm glad I gave them a try. I'd totally order here again whenever I'm in the mood for easy Chinese.

Such a great experience first time visiting Nongs. Service was amazing, food was very good. Some of the best Chinese food I've taste. I will be returning my next visit.

House Special Fried Rice (large) General Tso's Chicken (small) Crab Rangoon Wonton soup

Excellent classic Chinese food and big portions for the chicken dishes, a small was plenty. Great wonton soup and such friendly staff. Order was ready right on time for pickup

Best Chinese Food around. Very Clean place I'm a picky eater and I love this place.

    Chicken Lo Mein

Nice people and good food. However, the portion size is utterly laughable. If this is a large, i can't imagine what a regular is. This would be a very small regular.

I ordered earlier this evening and let me tell you it was the biggest let down I've probably ever experienced. Fried rice is unbelievably bland. Zero taste. It has a weird aftertaste that doesn't sit well. Orange chicken was chewy and soggy. You get a few pieces and all of them are huge. Would be better if they were actually bite size pieces. Sauce was below average. After reading reviews I really had hope, but after my experience I will never return. Truly awful and a waste of my money. I wish I kept looking at other restaurants instead of taking a chance on this joke of a business.

    Pork fried rice

Traveling here in Columbus, Ohio and decided to try this small, friendly place not far from the university campus. Very good! We have pork fried rice, lo mein, general Tso's chicken, and spring rolls. All very "Americanized" Chinese, but very nicely prepared. Would prefer a more spicy chicken, but the wife and kiddo were happy with the more mild fare. Bottom line, very friendly and the food was great!

I don't know why I have never ordered from this place before! I looked up the menu online and called to place my order. They said give it about 15-20mins. I walked inside to a very COVID-19 safe protocol to pay and grab your food. It was super quick in and out! The vegetable fried rice was pretty good but deff needed the soy sauce. They had asked me what spice level I wanted as well, which I said mild or basically none. For me it was about 2 meals worth of food which is normal for Chinese food entree. This place was about on par with mark pi's for me as far as taste. I would order again. This is kinda pushing it to the 4 star for me, maybe more like a 3.8 if I'm being honest.

First time trying food from here. Pickup order. Inside very nice and clean and the people there are very nice, helpful, and friendly. I ordered Beef Chow Ho Fun, egg rolls, and crab rangoon which were buy one get one free. First time trying Beef Chow Ho Fun so I was shocked by the huge portion I received! This dish was tasty and filling and full of bean sprouts, which I love! The beef was very tender as well. The ONLY reason I gave it four stars was because the crab rangoon wasn't to my liking. I prefer a sweeter filling and theirs was not. Their sweetness relied on the homemade sauce- which was good but I'd rather have the rangoon that is sweet on it's own with no sauce needed (my preference).

Phad See-Ew. Forget to tell them shrimp, but still looks great.

My search for a Thai restaurant will continue. It is not that the food was not good quality, just not up to the high bar that No Thai in Ann Arbor set. The service matched that high quality, the dish I tried didn't. The spiciness was just right for those of us who have acid reflux. You can ask for higher spice if that is your choice. The portion gave me 2 meals. Leftovers warmed up well. The noodles was just so MUCH wider than I am use to. Maybe I am like Goldilocks, one place the noodles were too narrow and this place too wide. Hopefully, the next place I try will be just right. I will say the chop sticks provided were not the normal break apart ones, but good heavy ones that made using them much easier for a newbie like me - just starting my 2nd year of mastering. EBS always told me he had 50 year headstart on me. I took a star off for not having a fountain pop machine. At least they had Diet Coke in a can.

When I walked in the atmosphere was great, I could smell good food and heard conversations. There's a large area with large round tables to right and to the left are booths and almost all of them were full. The menu was a mix of Americanized Chinese, traditional Chinese and included Dim Sum as well. There were a number of dishes we didn't know much about and there were dishes being enjoyed by other customers that looked delicious. The wait staff was more than happy to explain the dishes and/or show us on the menu what someone was eating. They took very good care of us and shared the tasks of bringing our food, filling water, and just checking in. Now the food. The food came out very quickly! We all received a well filled bowl of rice. First out was the string beans, perfectly cooked, not droopy, and the flavors of garlic and hot peppers. Even though the peppers were there the heat was not overpowering at all. Next was the shredded pork with garlic sauce. The textures of the pork and bamboo shoots were a nice contrast and the sauce was perfectly balanced and craveable. The special grilled lamb, I was told, was some of the best in the city. It was tender and well spiced. Even when he said he was full he just couldn't stop eating it. For the dim sum order we got the shrimp dumplings, soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and sesame balls and they brought a soy sauce and a chili oil with them. The shrimp dumplings were tender but the dough was pretty sticky. I think this is normal and they were tasty with some of the oil on them. The scallion pancakes were very thin and gummy, this is the only thing we ordered that I would not get again. The soup dumplings were very small but packed a lot of flavor. The dough did stick together a bit so unfortunately some of the soup did leak out. The sesame balls were the hit and we're just the right amount of sweetness that we considered them desert. They were large, at least 2" in size, with a wonderful sesame seed covered exterior and a soft, sweet center. Chuan Jiang Hao Zi is a wonderful somewhat hidden gem. If you want traditional Chinese cuisine including all the different offal they have it and I would totally try it here over anyone else if I was brave enough. Portions were a good size for the price. I highly recommend checking them out!

Quick Facts * Price: $44.71 after tax for two entrées, appetizer, soup, and drink. * Parking: Large shopping center lot. * Atmosphere: Quiet, spacious, clean. * Wait: Food arrived hot and in a reasonable amount of time. * Value: Good portion sizes for the price. * Lunch Deal: Free soup with an entrée Monday-Saturday (11-3), with the option to add an egg roll for $1. Lei's Asian Bistro feels like a neighborhood restaurant. Nothing flashy, but clean, comfortable, and somewhere you could easily sit and enjoy dinner. Every dish arrived hot, and the portions felt worth the price. Crab Rangoon The wrappers were crispy and fried well, but the filling was heavier on cream cheese than crab. The sweet-and-sour sauce was sweeter than I usually like. I wouldn't reorder these. Wonton Soup 1/2 The broth was decent, and I liked the wonton noodles. The pork was the issue for me. The broth contained very little pork, and the filling inside the wontons had a dense, chewy texture with a flavor I couldn't enjoy. I ended up removing the filling and eating the wrappers instead. Pork Singapore Noodles The seasoning reminded me of chicken ramen noodles. Not bad--just not something I'd specifically come back for. The pork, however, was excellent. The cut and seasoning were my favorite part of the entire meal and made me interested in trying another pork dish. Chicken Lo Mein I didn't taste it myself, but my dining partner described it as flavorful and said they'd absolutely order it again. Final Thoughts Lei's didn't win me over with the appetizers, but it showed enough promise that I'd come back for another pork entrée and let the rest of the menu make its case. Confidence Level: 6.5/10 Recommended: Pork entrées, Chicken Lo Mein. Skip (for me): Crab Rangoon, Wonton Soup.

Plus, I figured hibachi can take awhile, and I usually don't have a long time for lunch. Today I had a little more time, and I made a point to head over. It is a bit out of the commercial sprawl at the corner. Look for the food truck, that's the first thing I saw, and it helped me find where to turn in. I wasn't sure if there would be dine in, but there is, plenty of seating inside and out. Inside there are seats at the counter, plus booths, plus I think a couple tables. Menu is pretty basic: hibachi and a few sides. I got steak and chicken, with fried rice, and you pick two vegetables so I picked cabbage and bean sprouts. You get a Yum Yum sauce, and you can add others, but I didn't need them. And the sauce container they gave me was plenty big. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, the chicken was tender and flavorful, cooked in a nice sauce. The fried rice was great. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. And it all came out in about five minutes. They had a steady stream of carry out customers, but they still got mine on the grill, apparently as soon as I ordered it. Fast and good, and competitively priced for hibachi. A big portion, but not a huge, two days' worth of leftovers portion. But I was stuffed and couldn't finish it all. When I saw the drink cooler with just water and a few juices, I figured I'd have to go with those, but they do have fountain drinks. And they actually have a pretty good variety, cola, diet cola, cream soda, blueberry, cherry I think, and a few others. Anyway, several pleasant surprises, the food lived up to its reputation, I was in and out fast, and for not a whole lot of money in this day and age. I will be back.
