We attended the soft opening of Expanded location of the first original Nonla Burger. Better parking and there's room when we order our food. Love the clean and bright decors! I specifically love the design of the light fixture ( lantern). The chairs aren't very comfortable especially the ones that's by the corners. Since the tables are screwed to the walls, we can't move and there's very little space to slide in. Quick suggestion: I personally love and only eat white meat chicken however, there are majority of folks that do not like white meat. Nonla should give an option of either white meat or dark meat for the chicken sandos. That would definitely bring a lot of dark meat eaters to the joint! As for the salad, it was very delicious! However, I'd love to see them serve two sizes . ( small and large) Fries are on point! Pls keep up the great job on having a great service and hospitality! I'm so happy with my experience of Nonla, specially at this branch. The issue of the branch on S Burdick Street was the lack of parking spots and the small size of the restaurant. But here, it's so great to finally enjoy Nonla's burgers. Their burgers are so delicious, we tried the Cheese Burger and the crispy chicken sandwich. They were both so good for a great price ! The Chocolate milkshake was not that good, it was super milky and it wasn't sweet enough. There's a reason this place has been voted "Kalamazoo' Best Burger" on MLive two years in a row. The new location builds on their success by adding a location over by Western Michigan University and US 131 in Oshtemo. How they managed at the same time to keep the same classic atmosphere and yet add to the ambiance with a beautiful interior is a credit to the team that put it together. My burger was fantastic. Better than I remember since the last time I was at the old location. Add to that hand cut fries, the love of my life across from me and great prices and this place is unstoppable. If you were thinking of going anywhere else for a burger for lunch, look no further than Nonla. It's utter-ably the perfect local burger place. In my quest to find the best burger in the land, I have yet to find an equal. Now if we could just get a location on the east side of Kalamazoo my life would be perfect. We were invited to a private event for loyal customers (of the other Nonlas) tonight. We had our regular order (double burgers, fries, drinks), courtesy of Nonla, and pieces of a cake, courtesy of Costco. The restaurant opens tomorrow to the public. The owners, Natashia & Kyle, were present and welcoming, and it was a pleasure to speak with them. (Johnny was there too but we managed only a wave, as he seemed busy in the kitchen.) The private event was a very gracious way of thanking loyal customers and a way to introducing the new site on Drake Rd. And it is very nice. I could go into exhaustive detail but for once I'll be brief. In short, this new Drake Rd. site near Cosco and Trader Joe's has all of the same delightful and attractive qualities as the Burdick site, plus ample seating, ample parking, and a drive thru. Great burgers, greater fried chicken sandwich. I found a suitable synonym for crunchy in thesaurus.com: crackling. An energetic adjective that perfectly fits the the chicken sandwich. They are not huge sandwiches/burgers, which we actually appreciated as it was taste and quality over tonnage. Nonla is very generous with the fries, which are lightly salted and non-greasy, suitable companions. Nonla has a sauce that looks similar to McD's quarter pounder sauce, but is not as syrupy but more flavorful. Service was quick, nice kids working the store. Strawberry was the featured shake of the day. It was not too sweet nor chemically flavored, a nice light end to a smallish lunch meal. Staff greeted us and where very friendly. They were patient with us since we are out of town visitors from AZ. We ordered our meals, found a clean table to sit at and shortly after, our order was delivered by another friendly server. The bun is sweet tasting and fresh. The extras were also very fresh, crispy lettuce and onions, juicy tomatoes and just the right amount of sauce. The burger paddy was hot, tender and juicy. A great, local burger joint with great food and friendly staff. Even though a group departing left their trash in the parking lot, we notified a staff member and she immediately went outside and cleaned up all of the trash left by that group. We had heard so many great things about Nonla Burger so we had to try it out. Decided to try the one on Drake road as there are great reviews about it. The decor is really nice. It's a bit small but has a great feel to it. We tried the beyond veggie burger. Firstly, I have never tasted meat before so I don't know a whole lot about the texture. People did say it feels like meat. For us, we didn't like the texture so that was a bummer. I wish they had more options without meat. Just having one option, which we didn't like - was a bummer. The fries were fresh but a bit too salty. After hearing such great things about Nonla Burger it was a bit disappointing to not have more than one vegetarian option. Hoping they'll have more options in the future. Giving it 3 stars because I simply loved the decor, feel and the people. Everyone looked so happy! read more

I have heard nothing but great things from lots of different people as to how awesome Nonla Burgers are. We had the opportunity to try them out. Here's my input: If you would like a small, extremely well done burger at an inflated price, this is the place for you. I'm not sure what catch is about this place. There were a lot of people in the back working, which probably explains the high prices. But in a town that has other, much better food places, I don't get the rub. It's close to campus, but too expensive for college students. Or there are better options. I gave it 3 stars because the burger was good with all the extra stuff they put on it and we ordered 6 orders of fries and received 2 boxes of fries ( a box 14x9x4). I can say I went to Nonla Burger. Burgers are typically dried out and just leave you wanting more. I wish it were like in and out... but not quite there. Too much onion and too much lettuce. I am so glad they opened back up after the COVID stay at home rules were lifted for pick up. We went to the Drake avenue store and got a great Cheese Burger Nonla style, along with a great big order of fries and the shake of the day, strawberry! This is by far the best burger in town. Clearly they have their roots in SoCal, as the buyer was reminiscent of an In and Out burger, super fresh, grilled to order, but the twist of the Nonla style topping to add some spice make this a step above. Tried nonla burger last night to see what all the hype is about. I had the burger and took a bite out of the chicken sandwich. The burger tasted good but like a normal burger, what stuck out to me was the cheese, it tasted different but a good different. The onions were a big hit, I loved the flavor coming from them. The chicken sandwich wasn't my favorite. It may have been the slaw they put on it. But go give them a try for yourselves! Been here four times. Cheerful employees, clean restaurant, 7/10 food. It's your standard "in-n-out" style burger. The fries look and taste like they picked them up in the frozen section at Costco. Pros: you know what is coming, it's a solid burger with a great sauce. Cons: the patties are quite thin and prone to drying out. The lettuce is excessive. It's half of the burger volume-wise. How do I love thee, let me count the ways: Today's special (Jan 5, 2020) of a delicious pastrami sandwich was off the charts with real pastrami cut off the cured and smoked brisket. We opted for the chinese mustard to be served on the side as it was very hot (of course.) The ONLY way I have been disappointed at ANY of the Nonla restaurants is when the special is sold-out. Service has always been friendly and helpful and even a longer wait at the drive-in service on Drake Rd was WELL worth the time taken. (PLEASE don't ever sell out to a big restaurant conglomerate. I was pretty disappointed in our most recent visit to Nonla Burger on Drake and Stadium, we have always had amazing food and service in the past. This visit wasn't the same. The person who took our order was friendly and helped me with a suggestion for an different sauce for their chicken sandwich as I didn't like the spice the last time I had the chicken sandwich, however I don't believe she added the cheese that I requested and my husband did hear me order or it that way. I asked her if i could add cheese she said yes, we can do that...and punched something in while she was taking our order so I just figured she was adding it to my sandwich. When we went to sit down the restaurant was empty except for 1 person sitting in the bar seats by windows...all booths and tables were empty but they were all dirty. My husband went out to our car to grab some Lysol wipes to clean off our table. Let's just say the amount of dirt that came off the table was shocking. We would have gotten our food to go and eaten at home except we had other errands to run. When our food came to our table, there was no cheese on my sandwich and when I mentioned it to the woman who delivered it to our table she simply walked back to the kitchen, she didn't say anything. So I had no idea what was happening. I sat there for about 5-7 minutes my husband finished his burger and was unfortunately disappointed, he said it wasn't as good as it normally is, he said the bun was hard. I walked up to the counter with my sandwich, I heard the girls who gather say, here she comes, not sure what that meant, and the girl who took my order stated that "he is making you a new one now and that she would bring it out when it was done" I thanked her, I was not upset about my sandwich being messed up, and I didn't act upset, I was upset that there was absolutely no communication at all. We used to be big fans of Nonla, I'm not sure if there has been turn over or if they have had issues getting the quality of food they normally had in the past, but this time around it just wasn't the same. The fries were great, I will give them that, the perfect balance of crispy and not too crispy.
