The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor seating available with limited capacity. They are sanitizing / cleaning in between customers. I mention these things in my reviews for the sake of protecting immunocompromised people like the elderly and people sick with cancer and other illnesses. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is pretty big since they share a parking lot with many other establishments. The parking spot sizes vary depending on where you park. There shouldn't be any issues finding a spot. Food: I ordered an Indonesian fried rice and pork satay skewers with rice. The Indonesian fried rice was really delicious. The Indonesian fried rice had some greens, eggs, garlic, dried shallots, dried onions, raw onions, green onion, chicken, and meatball. All cooked to perfection. There were a good amount of chicken and meatballs in the dish. Both were soft, juicy, tender, and full of flavors. I love that the hot rice was slightly crunchy. It reminded me of eating rice from a hot stone bowl. For the pork satay skewers, I was lowkey disappointed that they didn't have lamb this time. I originally ordered lamb satay skewers, but they told me they didn't have it so they asked me to order a different satay skewer. I opted for pork satay skewers. This dish normally comes with rice cakes, but I'm not a fan of the texture of rice cakes, so I asked them to give me plain white rice instead. They happily obliged and gave me a bowl of white hot and steaming white rice along with 5 pork satay skewers. The marinade for the pork satay skewers had hints of garlic, lemon, honey, sweet soy sauce, and peanut sauce. An extremely delicious marinade for the pork satay skewers. The grilled pork itself was very aromatic, tender, juicy, and flavorful. So incredibly umami! A good portion for the price point for both dishes. I do agree with other Yelpers that I felt extremely thirsty after eating both dishes. Perhaps they need to tone it down a bit on the MSG. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, happy, welcoming, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. Also, right when you walk into the restaurant, there is a very cute and small market. You can get some delicious Indonesian snacks and other things while you wait for your food. I highly recommend coming here and giving this lovely mom and pop Indonesian restaurant a try. Sooooo fricken good! read more

Noodle Stars in Monrovia is what I had for dinner and I got the #15 flat rice noodle with beef and vegetables. This place is considered an Indonesian fast service restaurant and also a little mini market for things you can't get in America and are found mainly in Indonesia. I loved the dish! I sat here in this small spot but it was worth it the flavor profile is spot on and the chilis that they have are delicious. Tucked away in the plaza next to Sprouts, this small shop is a little market and restaurant combined into one. You order up front and wait for them to bring the food to your table. The prices are not bad compared to places like Borneo Kalimantan. Might've caught them on a busy day, but our order took around 45 minutes to come out even though we came around 1:30pm on a Wednesday! Jakarta Fried Noodle (Mie Tek Tek): 4/5. The flavors were very solid and authentic! Took off 1 point because after eating this and the fried rice, we all got very thirsty, meaning a lot of msg was used :( Indonesian Fried Rice: 2/5. Unfortunately just wayyyyy too much garlic and kind of oily :( I don't recommend this dish because all you'll be tasting is garlic and fried onion chips. Not sure if we were thirsty from the fried noodle or fried rice, but maybe both had a lot of msg used. I would come back to try their noodle soups and maybe reorder the Jakarta Fried Noodle! Finally got to try this place! I've had my eyes on it for a while and tried coming a few times, but it was always closed whenever I stopped by. So I was extra excited to finally get in, maybe a little too excited because I ordered way too much for one person (hello leftovers!). The fried tofu was amazing and it has a little piece of fish cake inside each bite, which made it extra flavorful. I also got the #1 special noodle, which came with chicken, chashu pork, mushrooms, and beef balls. The noodles had a really nice flavor, and the soup on the side was comforting and tasty. My first Indonesian noodle experience and it did not disappoint. I had the mei gorreng(spell) fried noodles with chicken and broccolini and other stuff and it was very flavorful. Portion was huge! Lately I've been craving siomay, so I thought of Noodle Stars. This place closes at 7 pm and is closed every Monday Tuesday, making it very inconvenient for me to come here. While running errands in Duarte and Monrovia, I rushed to Noodle Stars to get there by 6pm. Knowing exactly what I wanted, I ordered Siomay Bandung to go. The steamed siomay comes in 6 pieces of fish cake varieties. The plate consists of fish cake stuffed tofu, stuffed boiled potato, stuffed half hard boiled egg, stuffed cabbage, and 2 fish cake siomay. I was a little disappointed that I didn't get the stuffed bitter melon, but I quickly got over it when I tasted the food. After warming them up a bit, I poured the peanut sauce and kecap manis (sweet soy sauce) generously over the siomay. The peanut sauce is on point with its texture and consistency, and it's perfectly seasoned with the right amount of sweetness. You can take it to the next level by adding the little thing of chili sauce!! This Siomay Bandung was so delicious and satisfied my craving. To a big guy like me, this dish alone wasn't very filling. It was just like an appetizer. In the front end of the restaurant, there's a small section of Indonesian products, such as sauces, sambal, and snacks. This practice is pretty common with Indonesian eateries, as we love our snacks!! A clever way to generate extra income to your business! The interior decor itself feels a bit cold and industrial, which is why I don't really want to eat-in. I mean silver chairs aren't very inviting. I am happy to eat my food at home. read more

I stumbled across this place while craving Indonesian food, and I'm so glad I did. My boyfriend and I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon. The lady at the front gave us the warmest welcome, she was incredibly sweet and took the time to recommend some popular dishes. When we mentioned it was our first time, she even let us try a few Indonesian drinks, which was such a thoughtful touch. We ordered the star special noodle, mie goreng, and fried tofu. And wow. This was hands down some of the best Indonesian food I've ever had. I've been to places like Borneo Eatery and Ipoh Kopitiam, which are both great, but this food tasted especially homemade and clean in the best way. The noodles are house made and you can taste the clean wok flavor. Every dish was absolutely delicious, and I was honestly disappointed I couldn't try more because everything was just that good. Delicious noodles! This noodle shop is inconspicuously tucked in a shopping plaza it shares with Domino's Pizza and Baja Ranch market. The food was ready when they said it would be ready (about 15 mins from ordering on the phone). The ladies at the counters were nice and gave us extra spicy sauces. The restaurant was casual with a no fuss vibe. We tried the Indonesian fried rice, Jakarta fried noodles, and fried flat rice noodles. The Indonesian fried rice had lots of umami flavors and good amount of chicken and meatballs. I wished there were some veggies in there too. The Jakarta fried noodles were unique, I've never tried anything like it before and thought it was pretty flavorful. The fried flat rice noodles were very similar to the Thai pad see ew noodles. Oh my goodness!!!!!! I've just eaten my absolute new favorite meal. Hands-down, the best fried tofu I've ever eaten and I love fried tofu. I went in and ordered the special fried tofu by a very nice young lady. I think her name was Irene. This huge amount of tofu is so crispy and crunchy. I don't know how they do it. Its flavor is perfect..,,,, perfection. It is served with three sauces a large peanut sauce and then two smaller sauces. One was dark and and then one was an orangey color. All three of them I absolutely could not pick the one I like the most they were all delicious all three of those sauces just every time I tried a new one I was like oh my goodness I love this one then Oh my goodness I love this hands-down best ever. And honestly, it wasn't like you had to dunk it in the sauce to get flavor from the tofu it was amazing on its own. A problem with taking tofu to go is usually that it gets soggy this amazing spot. That's my favorite place now packs it on top of little crispy, crunchy bits, and two sheets of a thick wonton type of food. Everything stayed perfectly hot and perfectly crunchy. And I put the fried crunchy pieces on top of the side of rice I bought for only two dollars. They have little bags of Limons at the register and you could take one I wasn't going to, but she said no take it cut in half and squeeze it on the juice on top of the food. 100% did not need the lemon juice, but it was fun to squeeze it and try because I also picked up one of their self serve extra spicy hot sauces , chili sauce and it paired perfectly with that little bit of lemon on a piece tofu. There's so many things that I want to try there that looks so good. I just don't know how I'm gonna get past ordering this tofu every single time. read more

I tried out these dishes this time around. Stars Special Noodle - It's a dry noodle but comes with soup. Flavor wise its good and all the meats compliments the noodles so well. Soup is also super flavorful and not salty at all. (5/5) Jakarta Fried Noodles - The noodles taste fried and is packed with a lot of flavor. Portion is pretty large and sharable so I really enjoyed this one. Very generous on the meat portions IMO. (4.5/5) This is definitely one of our go tos when we want Indonesian noodles or Satays. I had one of the best Indonesian culinary experiences I've had in a very, very long time. I ate the Bakso Abang-Abang in-situ, and took home the Siomay and Mie Tek-Tek. The Bakso broth was VERY good, tasty, added some of their house chili sauce and sweet soy sauce and I was taken back to when I had bakso by the stall across the street from my high school back home. Their Siomay was very good, and the Mie Tek-Tek was very delicious. The crew was kind, super knowledgeable, and the chef came out to chat with a husband and wife who'd just had Indo food for the first time ever and they were blown away by how good it was. Small Indonesian restaurant that is part shop. Very low key and chill This place is so well loved, which is obvious by all the orders that took place in the short time I was there eating. I ordered the special noodle soup. It came with beef meatballs, tofu, and fried wontons with vermicelli. I smelled and sipped the broth first and the light feeling contrasted with the deeply fragrant taste which was outstanding. I'm not sure if there's celery or something similar but it was the star of the soup. I also added a smidge of the very hot sauce from the sauce bar because why not? What is the point of having Indonesian food and not indulging in some spice? To finish it off, I tried the coconut milk with brown sugar. The drink comes unmixed so the layers of color are very well defined. If you are a fan of coconut milk, this is the drink to get. It is sweet, creamy, and great - even hours after you've ordered it. I've been a fan since 2019 of Noodle Stars, before they changed the name to what it is rt now or open this place. I compare their noodles like one of the famous restaurant back at home in Indonesia. The chewiness, flavor, texture, the smell of the noodles is the same like that one famous restaurant, including their pangsit goreng (fried wonton) and the dipping sauce. My favorite noodles here is, bakmi ayam jamur, or #1 on the menu, nasi cap cay, the ox-tail soup, the bakso abang... and the desserts es durian smoothie and es doger! But I do notice their a slight difference in the taste in the chicken mushrooms topping, I taste a bit of the ginger, which I prefer not to taste the ginger bits, and the color of the it is a bit lighter, and more sweeter than the usual. Don't get me wrong, the taste still good, but not as great as before or as the original. So it's a mixed taste and feeling because of that. I know that the person who cooks now is not the same person, but still within the family. But I hope and wish that they would keep it the same as in the original, what makes them famous in the 1st place. As for the service, they are fast and quick! I can dine in or do take away. The tables and chairs and the place is clean, not big for a big group, but enough for 15-20 people. They also sell snacks, drinks and other things in there. Noodle is solid. Got pastel too. The upsell from the lady here is strong. Each order is a pack of 5, not individual. Very delicious and fully filled with goodness. Will get again. The peanut sauce is on the sweet side though, not my favorite or maybe just don't drown in sauce! Lots of people here got the calamansi drink. Maybe next time we'll try.
