Nora Creina is a private settlement. A kind of cultural experiment if you will, where the landholder has offered long term leases to parts of his property for people to build beach houses. It does have a 1950's shanty shack by the shore feeling, but that is its charm. Guests are welcome, but you do need to be respectful of the fact that you are visiting private land.
It is reached by a 15 minute drive from Robe, and is well signposted, and be aware that part of the way is along a dirt track. You know when you have arrived when you reach an unlocked gate through which you must pass. Driving through is to step back into the yesteryear of a kinder gentler community. When you pass the community information board, to the right, a short 4WD track leads to the beach. You are allowed to drive along and park on the beach, which is very handy for lugging a day's worth of gear to your resting spot.
When you reach the beach you are greeted by a stretch of which sand lapped by breathtakingly blue water punctuated by rocky outcrop islands that look like Dr Evil could set up house in. It could only be more perfect if there was a little less seaweed. There are many private nooks along the beach, and it is a great place for families to picnic and for friends to go and fish. There are no shops, so make sure you arrive well provisioned.
A visit to Nora Creina is to be seduced with a valium like calm, a sense of having escaped the world into a private moment back in time when life was simpler. And that my friends is why many people make sure they visit each time they visit Robe. read more
