This sort of tactic might play into what you see (or don't see) from other reviews. -tldr-MD Drywall is very unprofessional and does bad work-/tldr- I hired MD Drywall to board, mud, tape & sand my house. Unfortunately his boarders were completely unprofessional and unskilled. They overdrove at least 1/3 of the screws and didn't use glue as was specified in the contract. When, after the first day of boarding, I brought these problems to the owner's attention, his response was that he didn't believe me, because he'd been working with them for so long. When he came to look at what they'd done, he was still unwilling to admit they made mistakes and took shortcuts, simply stating they'd fix it. He also said he'd talk to the boarders to ensure that glue would be used and screws set to the proper depth. Well, no more glue was used, and screws were still all over driven. By not using glue to board they put MD Drywall in breach of contract as it was specifically written in that they would use glue. He didn't care. His boarders showed up at random times, not when I was told they'd be there, and even just decided to not show up one day, without letting MD Drywall, or me, know. They took drinks from my closed-off shelves (stealing), knocked a computer over and denied it (lying), broke one of my tools, damaged a window, covered over EVERY plumbing cleanout, and the list goes on and on. When I got him to come look at the other problems after the first day, including the damaged window and broken tool, his response was to get defensive and say he doesn't believe me. Eventually he ended up yelling at me despite the bad work his crew had done. Instead of owning these mistakes, replacing my broken tool, repairing my window, he just straight-up ghosted. And really, I'm glad, because if this is how he reacts when his crew does obviously wrong things and puts him in breach of contract, then how would it have gone at the end if they'd done bad mud/tape job? Probably really not well.

They always showed up when they said they will and I could trust them in my home. They did a wonderful job with my renovation and all the clean up too. I couldn't be any happier and usually it's so tough to find reliable contractors. I also found out that they are entirely a family-run, local, small business, which I always prefer to support. I would also like to say that Jax, the owner, has a friendly demeanor but everything related to my project was a disaster. To make a long story short - the job was never completed - the owner gave up eventually not even completing the boarding when it should have been completed to a level 5 finish (ceiling) and painted throughout. - the owner and partner at the time rarely showed up and absences and late arrivals were met with excuses (and there were plenty)...5 weeks for a partially boarded basement. - the workmanship was poor (suspected by me and confirmed by other experts) and required the drywall to be torn out. - I watched as a drywall section that I purchased was taken to another client (bit my tongue while watching this on one occasion). All they had to do was ask if they could take a scrap piece. - No effort was taken to reduce the cost that I was paying for material. I had to renegotiate one particular order myself. - No effort to rationalize the retainer that was paid upfront as goodwill upon my termination of the project In conclusion, the lack of effort cost me financially and was stressful. They were completely unreasonable, unprofessional and unqualified. There was no "Luxury" in this company's work. Although Jax is a nice person I would never again hire this individual or this company.

We have been in our new NW home for less than a week... what a long but rewarding experience it has been building a home in Alberta. In Ontario, you can have a home built from the ground up in 3 mos, I think here the tradesmen go north for more $ so it took time to build here, about 8 mos. Sterling has show homes all over the city as well as outside the cities and they are worth a walk through. The designers Sterling hires are amazing as well as the staff. They really do care about the people they build for. We were checking on our home every 3rd day as we could not wait to get in and of course we wanted to take pics of the progress and everyone was so patient. Every call or e-mail we placed was answered right away and they always set our mind at ease about any little things that needed to be touched up. For me, it is about the little things, the touches, the gift card we got for a nice restaurant right after we got back from our wedding/honeymoon. I always felt we were in good hands and I would be happy to answer any questions for anyone that is looking to build with Sterling. A tough process for a worry-wart like me, was made so much easier dealing with a company that truly cares about customer service and the aftercare/follow-up. We know for a fact that Sterling uses quality products when building right down to the clamps to keep the water pipes together. Instead of say a 49 cent clamp they used $5 ones and we really feel like we got our money's worth. Yep, I am a satisfied customer! Fingers crossed!

I bought a used vehicle off of one of their employees (they didn't know that I research *everything* before I buy a vehicle! :) ) and ran into some issues related to vehicle's Voice Recognition. The seller was under no obligation whatsoever to help me as I had already paid and received the (used) vehicle. However, after I contacted him about the issue, he contacted the dealership where he had everything done previously on the vehicle, and arranged for me to bring it in to have them take a look at it. It turned out to be an easy fix, but no one knew that at the time! The point of my review is this: if an employee (VP) of Sterling Homes demonstrates that much integrity when they don't *have* to, I can only imagine that it would be a pretty safe bet that they will demonstrate at least that much when dealing with their customers.
