The inside is warm an inviting, the beer cold, the guineas poured perfectly, and the food out of this world!!! Gaz, the head chef, has run kitchens in Michelin-star rated restaurants in the past and his skill, palate, and range show through in the menu at O'Connors. They have the best fish-n-chips in Vienna and regularly have new specials rotating through the menu. Everything there is delicious! The hospitality is truly friendly here and it's well worth the trip to this side of the 3rd district.

At 69.90 Euro/kg, I didn't really want a lot of extra oil for my seafood to swim around in. A small cup of the seafood salad & oil ended up costing 16.08 Euro in July 2021. The seafood salad itself is solid & tastes fine.

The shrimp was quite crunchy and meaty but it lacked flavor without the sauce and that was a problem itself. The sauce itself was utterly disgusting. It was clearly packed with sodium and other fatty substances which completely makes the shrimp unpleasant to eat. I'd avoid unless you are really hungry and can no longer wait for food.

At first I was worried that the exclusive feel of it all might've come at a detriment to the food, but on the contrary: I loved it! On my last visit, I noticed that they'd introduced meat options, but now they've gone completely vegetarian again and I think that's been a great move. The service was also great and overall I just had a fantastic dinner here! I'll hopefully be back in less than 8 years again ;-)

I had their Strawberry Pistachio Cake (strawberry cream, pistachio cream, sponge cake, and strawberry glaze) with a Maria Theresia (double espresso with Cointreau, whipped cream, and orange zest). My friend had their classic Mozart Cake (pistachio cream, chocolate mousse, and chocolate sponge cake). Everything was delicious. (This is just a small slice of what they offer. They have tons of cakes and coffees, but they also serve full meals as well. So it's an option for strudel, schnitzel, plum dumplings, goulash, and more.) The cafe has an interesting history: Oskar Hornik purchased the coffee house and named it after the Mozart monument at the Albertinaplatz in 1929 (it had existed in different iterations and locations for many years before that). After the Anschluss (the Nazi annexation of Austria in 1938), Hornik was forced to sell the cafe at an extremely low price (Aryanization). After the war ended, the cafe struggled and changed owners and uses until 1993, when a family purchased the cafe and focused on restoring it to its earlier glory. The interior of the restaurant is charming - you can see its nod to the past, but it feels quite modern at the same time. And the service was very good. We really enjoyed taking a little break from our day at Cafe Mozart.
