Terrible the apartments were over-priced. The neighborhood is terrible a girl over-dose on heroin in that apartment complex while I lived there. There was also the bartender murdered right down the street. There is a bar in front of these apartments and at like 1 am you will have drunks outside from the bar yelling in the middle of the night. The owner lives on the premise and he is a cheap his apartment has 4 window a/c units. My window A/c was broken for the whole summer not fixed when I asked them to fix it multiple times. The maintenance man likes to go sit around and do nothing on his golf cart. read more

I lived at Normandy Manor for three years, after relocating for an engineering position east of Mentor. In the beginning, it seemed like a good deal; I was a bit concerned about some of the external property condition (especially the landscaping), but the apartment that I viewed seemed to be in decent condition and was the "best" that I had viewed at my initial price range. When I moved in, it proved to be a somewhat difficult transition; sure, the location gives it great access to Andrews Plaza, with a large number of stores, gas stations and fast-food locations; but it has a high amount of turnover, and a number of the residents have pets that are always making noise regardless of the time of day. The halls always smelled of smoke, even with people smoking outside, and I had issues with the pine tree that I was forced to park my car under, constantly shedding needles, cones or resin depending on the time of the year. Maintenance was a big issue; the heating system works on a hot-water heat exchanger. In principle, they work well, but the entire building is heated off a single hot-water tank, and it takes a good deal of time to feel that heat in the upper apartments - especially during a windy winter night. I've had issues with management regarding my attempts to improve the heating in my apartment, including an attempt by them to charge me for potential "damages" from my inspection of the re-circulation valve. Right now, I'm fighting the back-charges for "cleaning services" for surfaces that apparently needed high-end cleaning after my departure (despite my witnesses who can testify otherwise). In essence, I'm being billed for their cleaning expenses, above and beyond the cost of my security deposit - even without my acknowledgement of it. I had to fight like hell to get any documentation on their end to corroborate their charges and will probably only pay to get them out of my life. I still plan to file grievances with the BBB of Cuyahoga/Lake County & FHA after this is complete. In the end, the location is nice with easy access to the lakefront, but the property is just not what it was. I would recommend to anyone looking within the area to consider Harbor Run or one of the more-expensive tenements within the area; you'll get a better deal in the long run. read more

Wonderful place to call hope. Management friendly and always helpful. Location is great can walk to the lake or shopping. Minutes from the mall. Police and fire departments are seconds away. I am back for the third time a great place to call home. Clean, Safe great neighborhood Police do a great job of keeping trouble out of Mentor on the lake. I have lived here for many years this is a great value. Looking for a place to call home this is it, for any stage of your life. If you like trouble, causing trouble, being in trouble this place is not for you. If you want to start a family, bring a family or just want to feel a part of the family here, you should fit right in. read more
