The "boss" told me that any item over 250 lbs would be an additional $100.00. Of course, I was surprised since the "No hidden fees!" is what drew me to the company in the first place, a promise that was reiterated to me by the young lady that arranged the appointment. It was no surprise that I could not reach the young lady who reiterated that promise to me after being hit with a "hidden fee". Here I am on move day (both the old and new landlords are expecting movement) staring into the eyes of a swindler. What choice did I have but to have them move what they could. To add insult to injury, the crew started pointing at multiple items that were "overweight" and seemed put off when I told them to leave them. One of the items was hide-a-bed couch, which one would think is heavy but right after they said "Oh THIS is overweight", I picked it up myself, set it down, and told them that my wife and I moved it where it was with no issues. Another item was a regular dresser, which I weighed later on... it came in at a whopping 117 pounds. Now they did move the majority of the items in the house (aside from the heavier stuff), but decided at a random time that they were done loading the truck. The house wasn't empty, and there was plenty of room in the truck... but I guess they were just done. They emptied the truck into the new house and the boss came to the settling table for payment. It was here that he told me that the extra money "pumps up" the movers, and he understands why we might feel like we were lied to. The irony was tangible... we WERE lied to! Unless "no hidden fees" isn't English and has some outlandish alternate translation... charging us fees after claiming that you won't is lying! I had to call on some friends to help load the heavy items the next day into a truck that I rented myself. Bottom line: don't let these people in your home; they are swindlers.

NO PRO!!! This may get long but is worth the read to ensure…read moreyou are well informed before selecting this company. PRO Moves may be their name and they may be PROs at something but it is definitely not moving and definitely not PROfessionalism. My husband and I paid for my daughter's move. Company quoted a little over $600 for a basic 2 bedroom apartment. Six hours into the move, which frankly should have been long enough to completely empty out the apartment and pack the belongings into a storage unit, my daughter was told she owed them more than $800 at that point. The apartment wasn't close to empty. They had arrived an hour later than scheduled and took well over an hour lunch break rather than unloading the truck. Oh and we were charged for their lunch time which was a fact that had not been communicated up front !!!! It must be nice to be paid for an hour and a half lunch. I'm a healthcare professional and never had such luxury. So upon notification, after their return from lunch, that they needed to finish immediately since the bill had somehow mounted to well over the quoted price, they simply threw items into the storage unit without any regard for those marked fragile or concern for neatness to conserve space. Many items that had been designated to remain in the apartment somehow mysteriously ended up in the storage as well. An absolute cluster!!! My son had to complete the move and rearrange all the mess PRO Moves left behind in the storage unit. Now I know this review is getting lengthy but please continue to read so PRO Moves' real PROfessionalism can be fully described in case you haven't already figured out their worth. There was a glitch when they attempted to process the remaining payment. My daughter had the funds available, we had deposited them into her account, but for some reason when they ran it through it did not process. The so-called PROfessional manager Keri then chased down my children and grandchild in her vehicle and commenced cursing at them (all recorded). Even had the nerve to threaten my daughter that she would come to her house with her niece and have her black family members the Winstons give her an ass-whipping", as if anyone knows them or cares. Also called my daughter a racist because she told the PROfessional manager Keri that her workers were high during the entire move which was also observed by neighbors. Guess what, we are African American. We are not racist. We just don't appreciate being lied to and cheated. This individual's ignorance and mentality was absolutely unacceptable and since this is how PRO Moves handles business, I'd seek help elsewhere unless you like being threatened, cursed, lied to and robbed of your hard earned money. If not, plan your move well in advance and schedule a reputable company such as Lawrence & Family. Also, found the PROfessional manager Keri's fake review on Google. Attached so you can see just what type of people these are.

I hired Pro Moves to move my belongings from my residence in Charles Town to Berryville, Va. I…read morepersonally packed furniture to protect it including some glass items such as mirrors and display case glass, days before the move occurred. The truck showed up at my house a little after 10 am. It took two attempts by the driver to get the truck situated in front of my residence before moving could begin. Before the movers got started I showed them three items that were clearly packed, labelled fragile along with $$$ signs that I personally packed myself. I informed both men what would happen if they broke any of the three items. Remember, I am paying $140 an hour to get my belongings moved without breaking them. Unfortunately for me, one of these items was broken by a mover, not me. At approximately 11:30am, the movers were ready for a break and eat lunch. The moving truck was only half loaded at this time and not loaded floor to ceiling. The movers recommended that loading the truck with anymore stuff would increase the chance of breakage. Other than packing blankets, there were no straps to secure the items in the truck from shifting. In short, stomp on the breaks and my stuff would go flying! I'm thinking, professional movers wouldn't create this situation. Professional movers wouldn't load the truck half full unless it was to pad the bill. Professional movers wouldn't move a 150lb safe down a staircase without it being strapped to the dolly. All of my stuff would have fit in the 20 foot truck used in one load, saving me drive time and mileage fees incurred by a needless second trip. I am being charged $140 an hour for two men and a truck starting at 9am. They have been moving my stuff for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. They take half an hour for lunch, then go back on the clock. I have a 20-foot truck half loaded which means another load and another trip back to Berryville. I am working as a third man moving stuff during the whole move to the outside of the truck for Leon to pack in the truck. While the moving is going on I notice the men don't strap anything to the undersized dolly they brought. I have to inform a mover that no furniture should be rubbing the walls and to use packing blankets to prevent it. My stuff is simply manhandled. At one point a safe was being moved down the staircase from the second floor on a dolly with no straps. About midway down the staircase the safe that weights approximately 150 pounds comes off the dolly rolling forward. The second mover stops the safe from rolling down the stairs but not before it smacks the plaster wall leaving a dent in the wall the size of quarter for me to repair later. This could have been avoided if the safe had been secured to the dolly. After two trips and 9 hours of labor charged plus mileage, the bulk of my belongings have been moved. If I hadn't worked as a third mover, the job could have easily turned into a 12-hour job x $140.00 to move approximately 20 feet of belongings already packed and boxed! After unpacking one of the three items marked fragile and $$$, I discover the corner of the glass is broken. Its ruined. I didn't move it on or off the moving truck but I am told by the moving company that I had moved the broken item in my personal vehicle, therefore I broke it. Ritchie the mover handled the broken piece in and out of the moving truck to my apartment, not me. Leon packed the truck. Can you guess which one broke it? It was never moved using my pickup. For those of you thinking of using Pro Moves remember this. The word Pro is simply a word. But its not applicable to this company. They go on the clock at 9 am and on your nickel. In my case it took them an hour and 15 minutes to arrive at my house in Charles Town from Martinsburg, before any moving took place. You are also charged mileage as well. In my case I was charged 9 hours labor plus $48 in mileage charges for a total of $1308.00 But in reality, rather than 9 hours labor, I should have been charged 6 1/2 hours for two trips. It should have been only one trip! Ask yourself these questions; Can you afford to pay for labor that doesn't arrive on the job until an hour and 15 minutes later? Can you afford to have your belongings being manhandled and damaged, then be told by the mover its not responsible for the damage because you didn't pay them $90 an hour to pack it? Can you swallow being called a liar by the mover when you notify the mover an item was damaged by their man only to be told you broke it? This is after your asked to submit an estimate to replace the broken item.

I spoke with the woman who I'd been making the arrangements with and I understood that she seemed to have made a mistake in quoting me the 2-man price for 4 workers. I can understand 1 mistake - everyone makes them. I was even good-natured about Dave's constant complaints about his health and his comments regarding the heaviness of my furniture, even though it made me wonder why he was a professional mover... The move itself went much longer than they expected (I suspect since there were half as many movers as I'd expected - see previous paragraph) and Dave graciously stopped charging me after it was obvious the move was going to take all day and then some. I tipped Dave and his cohort as they were leaving (in a hurry, although I assumed it was due to the late hour) and as I walked back up my driveway, I spotted a huge shard of mirror tossed to the side into the leaves. I ran out to flag them down before they drove away and they denied breaking anything. Once back inside, I took stock of all of my mirrors and sure enough, a long wooden-framed one was completely missing. I also discovered the base of my Maitland-Smith end table was completely broken off. Again, I understand that accidents happen and they committed to making things right by repairing the (now-admittedly broken) mirror and table. I had to bring the table to their office and they had the mirror frame, which had been left on the truck (so much for them saying they didn't know where the shard came from...). For 3 months they evaded my emails and phone calls requesting information on the status of the repairs. During the last week of February, they completely stopped communicating with me and I filed a complaint with the WV Atty. General's Office. In late March I came across a FaceBook ad for Dave's new indoor flea market. My table was in one of the photos. After escalating matters by calling the police, I finally got my mirror and table back and I was extremely glad to have them. It's unbelievable that the table was professionally repaired as the wood crosspiece was glued crookedly and there were blue magic marker marks in various places that were not there before. I suspect the table was scuffed and they attempted to "fix" it. In addition to my damaged table and mirror, I discovered they'd left a valuable antique headboard outside at my old address. When I brought it to Dave's attention, his office said they'd deliver it when they brought back my repaired items. Since I had to go back to Dave's office to pick up my mirror and table, I asked him when he planned to deliver my headboard and he told me that he no longer has any trucks or employees. When I reminded him that I paid him to perform a service for me, he said, "I don't know what to tell you honey." You may ask, "Why don't you just go pick it up yourself?" Well, I can't fit it in my car and I have a bad back (thus the reason for professional movers), which means I'd need to rent a van and I don't think I should have to pay to have it moved since I've already done that. If Dave had any sense at all, he'd rent a van, get my headboard to me and be done with it. I requested his insurance company info. and he will not respond to my request (I suspect he doesn't actually have insurance). So to sum up, I paid a lot of money to have my belongings professionally moved and I ended up with a damaged table, a missing headboard, a lot of lost time and a big headache. You decide if it's worth it for you to hire these guys but never in a million years again for me.
