Hottddaamm!!! So glad they screwed up at honeywhatever around the block This place is stinking amazing !!! Music!!! Wow!! 80s and 90s ... like what i would want at a diner. We were sat immediately. Absolutely wonderful people! The coffee was greaaatttt!!! Hot and flavorful!! Not like the light brown tea almost coffee you get at a lot of places. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs with the homemade biscuit... oh man. It had been. A while since I had something that good. My wife.\nHad the french toast and bacon. The bread tasted like it was sweet at home.It was already sweet and the bacon was nice , long and thick and crispy. Order a cinnamon roll to go , which we're excited to have here in a couple of hours, but everyone in this establishment is very hospitable , and everyone has a smile. If you have a chance to come and to enjoy please do so. Ask for Joshua!!! Great young man. read more

We always enjoyed Normas but have been for a few years since moving away. The food is as good as always. We enjoy the breakfast menu but everything is really great!!! The service is awesome. The waitresses have all been here for years and have the old school waitress work ethics. My coffee cup and water never ran dry. They checked on us multiple times but never "hovered" over our table. read more

My roommate wanted breakfast for dinner so we ended up going her one week night. It is in the corner of a shopping center. The sign said seat yourself so we sat at a booth and grabbed menus from the host stand where the sign was. All the booths have the Texas flag as the back which I thought was a nice touch. I got the Country Breakfast $13.72 with Chicken Fried Steak, ordered my 2 eggs over easy. The CFS was large and delicious, good ratio of breading to meat and maintained some crispness even though it was covered with gravy. It comes with your choice of hashbrowns or grits, I got the hashbrowns and forgot to order them extra crispy but to my pleasant surprise they came out extra crispy anyway. You also get a choice of biscuit or toast and I went with the biscuit. It is a good size but was super stale and hard. Must have been from the morning. The CFS was delicious and I basically put my eggs and the hashbrowns on top of it making a scramble basically. The only thing that kept this from being perfect was the biscuit. Our server was nice enough, did not give her name. A manager stopped by to deliver our food and get refills too. All in all, pretty good all around and I would gladly go back! read more

Tonight I got the chicken fried steak meal with mashed potatoes and glazed carrots. The chicken fried steak was very tough. I could hardly eat it. The mashed potatoes didn't taste good at all. The glaze carrots were OK. The cornbread had a weird flavor that I had to throw out. I don't know what happened to the Food but I'm sorry but Boston market has better chicken fried steak than what this place has.. I was hoping for a better meal considering I paid $20 for this and got crap that did not taste good and was edible. I doubt I will ever be back.. read more

Listen!!! Norma's Restaurant is hands down one of the best spots in Dallas for comfort food! I came in with high expectations, and Norma's completely delivered. The atmosphere is cozy, with a welcoming vibe that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. I ordered the chicken fried chicken with cornbread dressing, and it was simply amazing. The chicken was tender on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and seasoned to perfection. The cornbread dressing was rich and flavorful, just the right blend of savory herbs and moist cornbread - it tasted like something straight out of a thanksgiving dinner. Every bite was consistent. The service was just as impressive. My server Lilian exceeded expectations and was attentive and friendly. I left with a full stomach and a happy heart. The staff here is friendly and welcoming. The server (Rhonda) knew the menu well and made recommendations when we were trying to decide our orders. We didn't have to ask for coffee, tea or water refills as our server followed up with us frequently. The food was delicious and the portions were satisfying. There is abundant seating with tables and booths available. I felt comfortable and the atmosphere was friendly and neighborly. Great place for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. read more

This was our first time trying the famous Norma's Cafe and it did not disappoint. Been around since 1956? They are doing a lot of things right! Very generous portions and everything was delicious. The complimentary rolls and corn bread, chicken fried chicken, soup and perfectly cooked bacon...yumm! Our server Rob took great care of us and the manager Chris very hospitable to us First Timers. With so many breakfast choices around, this was a bad one. Not horrible just not worth it. To start off it was very warm. Uncomfortably warm. It being breakfast time I stopped with the coffee and exchanged it for water, that didn't help. Our order took over 30 minutes arrive. I asked for crispy hashbrowns, and they weren't. She brought them over and asked the moment she put our plates down if we would like to send them back to be remade since they weren't crispy like we ordered. She said it would take longer but she could take the plates back and have them remade. We opted out. I also ordered a Belgian waffle and the butter wouldn't smear since it wasn't even warm. The scrambled eggs & bacon were meh, nothing necessarily bad but not great. Love them for dinner but won't be returning for breakfast. read more

First time to Norma's and I'd definitely go back to try additional entrees. We now understand why their slogan is "Eat Dessert First" - you won't have room otherwise! Portions were generous and we brought almost half home. Sides were okay, but main dishes of grilled pork chops (seasoned perfectly) and chicken fried steak were really good. Staff - 4/5 - Friendly and fast. I do wish he came around a little more. Food - 4/5 - Great country breakfast food. Ordered the following for my son and myself: Chicken Fried Steak ($11.49) - 5/5 - Huge portion of chicken fried steak with eggs and toast. Huge portion for a great price. Highly recommended. French Toast ($6.99) - 4.5/5 - Huge portion of french toast. You can add fruit for $1 or meat for $3. Overall, you cannot beat the price, quality and taste of this place. The three should be five stars and are all for the server on Sunday evening, who was the best; "Diego." Professional, courteous and knowledgeable, although he was brand new he did a great job. The pecan pie was straight out of the freezer, with a crust whiter a saltine cracker, it was so undercooked, hard as a stone and the woman who brought it did not even warm it in the microwave. As mentioned, this was on the 'blonde' female server, NOT our attentive server Diego, who was fantastic. We will try again and ask to be in his area of service. :-) This location has upped their game as this time we did not see the kitchen help eating behind the bar while simultaneously slinging average hash. read more

Norma's was good back in the day. Husband picked up dinner tonight and it was horrible. Chicken and dressing was old, tastes like it was made earlier in the week and frozen. The chicken tastes like canned chicken and the dressing was almost black. Canned turnip greens were bitter and tasteless. Hubby steak was equally tasteless. Goodbye to the good old days! read more

i want to start off with saying that the food was great and our server was super nice. Staff super welcoming. Only thing is that while i sat there with my family we kept hearing the manager on expo yelling at his staff to go find something to do. While that happened the whole restaurant literally stayed quiet. The second time it happened i was in the bathroom. I heard him yell at them and this time cursing And again the whole restaurant went quiet. I can hear ppl conversating about the way the manager was handling things. i run my own kitchen been running one for 4yrs and i believe that there is a better way of dealing with staff standing around (one of the other managers used that as an excuse) , especially when expo window is where customers can see and hear you. The way they handle situations with staff isn't ok Especially when your customers are seeing and hearing everything.! read more

I have been to Norma's three times including twice at this location. I went last year on my birthday/their anniversary and the food was delicious. We dined in on my first visit and I had no complaints. My second visit was this past summer and the chicken fried steak was just ok and the breading was soggy. The green beans and mashed potatoes were delicious but I can't say the same for the mac and cheese. I will come back again but I think I'll stick to dining in. Their customer service is excellent for dine in and take out orders and their prices are very reasonable. read more

Established in 1956.

Norma's Cafe is a Dallas home cooking institution. Founded in 1956, Norma's Cafe serves up hot, fresh, and savory home-style meals, with a sinful Texan flare, which are sure to make your mouth water. The original location has been operating in Oak Cliff for more than 60 years. Norma's has now expanded to locations in Addison, Frisco, Plano and Park Lane & 75 in Dallas. Norma's Cafe is the rare type of cafe that one can stop by for a cup of freshly brewed coffee or a full-on family meal and leave equally satisfied. Norma's Cafe staples include big breakfasts, characterized by fluffy biscuits and gravy, satisfying dinners with award-winning chicken fried steak, and homemade, Mile-High Cream Pies™ for dessert. Norma's Cafe is the one, the only, the original.

Meet the Business Owner: Ed M.

It all started in 1956 from a small Texas storefront in the Oak Cliff neighborhood just outside downtown Dallas along historic US Highway 80. With a menu that reminds you of home and servers who know you by name, Norma's Cafe began welcoming hungry guests from across the D/FW Metroplex with its Texas comfort food. Owner and Cafeteur Ed Murph likes to put it this way, "We make more than great comfort food; we make great friends and memories." And he should know. As a boy growing up in Oak Cliff, Ed used to eat at Norma's Cafe. He made some friends, loved the food and created many memories. He loved it so much that he bought the place nearly 30 years ago from Norma herself. Today, the Norma's Cafe tradition stays the same - just like Ed and so many like him from Dallas remember.

The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. And don't even get me started on the everyday breakfast. Classic, hearty, and no funny business--just how we like it. Eggs done right, toast that actually tastes like toast (imagine that!), and portions big enough to fuel ya through a full day of shovelin' snow... or, you know, strolling around Dallas. All in all, Maple Leaf Diner absolutely crushed it. Let me tell ya, the service was so fast and smooth, I thought I was dreaming eh.
