Norms is my go to place for beer. There are a lot of bottle shops out there, but few have the selection Norms does. If your planning on going, give yourself plenty of time to go over their huge inventory. Bring a growler or 2 because they also may have something on tap you want to bring home. The break up packs so you can take a single is a great policy! Make your own 6 pack, grab a pack of your favorite, whatever you want they accommodate. TLDR ; Spend your money elsewhere! My husband and I decided to support local for our wedding day. We decided to rent kegs from Norm's. We went in a week before, paid in full for our two full kegs and let them know someone else would be pick them up on the day of the wedding. Fast forward to one week later to our wedding day, the kegs are picked up and brought to La Connor for our reception. Not only was one of the kegs the wrong size and the wrong beer, both taps were broken. We called them and they basically said sorry we cannot help you. So we had to send someone to buy new taps on the day of our wedding. Then when speaking to the people that picked up our kegs they let us know they were charged $150 deposit fee which we had already paid the week before? We spoke to someone and all they could say was that they were sorry and that there should've been a receipt shown at time of pickup but also that they reserved the wrong keg for us! Imagine blaming your customer for your mistake. They didn't offer anything to remedy the situation other than a refund of what they OWED us and the apology was less than sincere. You'd think we'd get the refund and that would be it? NOPE. We go in store, they give us the refund and we leave. They say it'll take up to two weeks for the money to be back in our account. We wait an entire month, the money never shows back up in our account. We called and were told that we had to speak with their book keeper who was only in until 11am everyday. I left MULTIPLE messages for her because she was always gone by 10am every time I called. Not once did I get a call back. We ended up filing a dispute with our credit card company after all this and just finally got our money back this month. Imagine this kind of experience with a small business on your wedding day!!!!! Truly horrible customer service and wouldn't spend another dime here if they were the last gas station in the county. read more

Wow, quite a startling beer mecca for being so seemingly far away from everything. You wouldn't necessarily think that such a woodsy, house-focused neighborhood would have the population to support a bottle shop--you expect to find these in more densely packed areas in town. But it's the real deal, with at least a dozen coolers full of craft beer. You wouldn't think it's the real deal, though, because it looks like a gas station--must be the gas pumps, and everything else about it that is, in fact, a gas station. When you first walk in, you still think it's just an ordinary mini-mart. But then you walk the coolers and you see dozens of Belgians and hundreds of American beers. Not quite the same level of emphasis on German, UK, or Scandinavian stuff (to say nothing of all the countries that send one or two lagers to the U.S.), but Belgians and Americans offer quite a devastating lineup by themselves. They have a couple dozen empty six pack holders sitting out, clearly inviting you to mix up and go. One whole side wall is craft beer; the back wall is macro-industrial lagers and then the third wall is gatorade and pop and stuff. It's right off Highway 9, so not too awfully hard to get to. I don't happen to pass through here that often, but this is now a guaranteed stop if I am in the vicinity. They even had a ton of cool vintage looking single-wide milk crates with bottles of fancy beer wired into place--these were Father's Day gift ideas today. Pretty cool. I used to come here a lot, prices are a little higher than other stores in the area but I like supporting small local businesses and they had a nice beer selection. I had called them to ask if they carried a liquor, they put me on hold and told me they would call me back after they checked. I assumed they were just busy when they didnt call back so I drove down to the store to check. They didn't have what I was looking for but when I told them (as I was checking out with a different purchase) that I wish they had called me back to save me the drive, the store clerk told me he was sorry but his manager told him to just ignore my call and not worry about calling me back. That's unfortunate considering their location is not really convenient but I still spend the extra time to drive there to support them but they dont value my business enough to just call me back. I told them that's not really how you treat customers and won't be shopping there again, unless the manager called me back to apologize. They never called me of course. Definitely purchased my New Years alcohol somewhere else, as well as all of my other beer purchases. I'm sure they don't really care but I have refered dozens of people in past to them and shopped there a lot. Now I will make sure to avoid Norms, spend my money at any of the numberous places in the area, and will make sure to let others know that there are better places in the area. read more

So, everybody talks about the beer, and there are plenty of spirits to satisfy alcohol lovers the world over. The reason for my five stars is two fold -- the amazing soda selection and the wonderful people who work there. Norm's has this absolutely AMAZING selection of artisan and classic sodas in glass bottles. Fentimans Botanically Brewed Sodas, Cock and Bull are just two of the many unique libations you will find in their coolers of magic. New York Seltzer and Green River are two more. This is in addition to the standard Coke and Pepsi products you'll find in any store. Of course, no convenience store (and Norm's is convenience store on steroids) is complete without munchies. They have a wide assortment of snacks, cookies and ice cream as well as hot foods. There is also a whole feast for the eyes that is the store's decor. Lit trees, a mannequin standing at a urinal (check it out, he's in the back of the store wearing a Seahawks jersey and red sweats) and perhaps my favorite, the ski lift chair right outside as you walk up to the door. All these things make this not just a wonderful gas station and convenience store, but the people who work here are super friendly and welcoming. Stu is one of the friendliest people I've had the pleasure to encounter at a business. All of these factors make Norm's a great place to get gas, beer and soda! This is one of those places where you walk through the doors, your arms raise, you look to the sky, and the heavenly choir bolts out sounds of glory. I'm not sure about anything else in this store, but it is the beer lover's heaven. I've been to many a convenience store, liquor store, and alcohol drive thru, but none hold a candle to Norm's Market. Great fortune brought us here as my brother in law and I were driving through Lake Stevens on a beer run, when I missed a turn into a Chevron and we ended up pulling into an unassuming convenience store. Little did we know what we were getting into. There was an unmatched selection of beer bottled and on tap. Many beers I have never seen or heard of before. You don't want to buy a six? Grab any individual, mix and match, and build your own six. You have a growler you need filled? Pick one of the many tapped beers and they'll fill it. The employees were completely helpful informing us about the beer and showing us a bar code we could scan that links you to their beer list that is updated frequently. We even got to sample a beer or two. It literally took me 15 minutes to decide on my beers for the night. I went with three double deuces with a couple standbys (Young's Double Chocolate Stout and Boulder Beer Shake Chocolate Porter) and a new one (Iron Horse Mocha Death). Unfortunately for now I will have to pass as I was required to be within a few feet, face to face of the cashier as she rang out my purchase with no facial barrier of any kind. Awesome selection of craft brews in bottles and on tap. But that is not the only reason I like this place (it is my favorite local business in Lake Stevens of any type). The owner and staff are great, very friendly and helpful. It is keep clean and well stocked at all times, and it is obvious that both the owner and staff care about the business. Norm's is AWESOME. it's more than that. It's community. It's convenient. It's got gas, propane, hot food, everything a small corner market has.....but then it has HUGE personality...and BEER. No...not beer as you know it. BEER as in the Mecca of beer in possibly the entire PNW. They have something like 1200 to choose from including up to 52 on tap. Grab your growler, come on down, get schooled on some great beers. They even have a local rootbeer...on tap...my kids love getting a growler of it for rootbeer floats. I love not just the convenience, but the variety of stuff that they carry...I'm always grateful when I can make a Norm's ruin instead of heading all the way to the grocery store. They always have witty signs, and crazy decor. Employees are always friendly, informative, helpful. My kids even like riding their bikes up there for ice-cream bars. It's perfectly located across the street from Lundeen park...so you can grab anything you forget (usually ice!!) Only 2 things could make this place better.... Until they put their marquee out, I just assumed this place was your typical service station minimart. You know, the kind of place you buy ice or slim jims. Not so. Norm's has one of the largest selections of craft beer in this end of Washington. Along with the wide selection of bottled beer from all over, they also fill growlers to-go. There are 52 different taps, with different beers on rotation. The majority of beers on tap are northwest microbrews, but I've also seen beers from other areas of the US. Most growlers are filled for about $10, with some being more and some being less. If you are looking for big brand beer, Safeway or Albertsons is probably your better option, as it will be cheaper there. But if you are looking expand your beer horizons, Norm's won't disappoint. read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Norms considering I've been coming here for years. I first found Norm's through the Sam Adams website in my search of their Boston Ale (my husband prefers it over their lager but we can't find it in WA). When we pulled into the parking lot we thought, "Ok, what beer could a gas station market provide?" but when we stepped in we were astonished by the selection. The staff is friendly and even tried to get the Boston ale in for my husband. Unfortunately it's not distributed in the area but I like the fact that they wrote down what we wanted and made an attempt to get it in the store for us. How awesome is that? They've reorganized the store since we first started going and now fill growlers. There are two rows of deli cases that run about 2/3 the length of the store with bottled microbrews and imports. They have some 6-packs but you're welcome to create your own. We like the 22oz bottles since we can sample/share a new beer but some beers are available in 12oz bottles as well. The worst part about Norm's is trying to decide what to get as their selection is so vast. If you're in the mood for Budweiser or MGD, they have that too, but please explore their great selection of pilsners, ales, stouts, IPAs, ciders, ports, meads and much more. They are an actual gas station too. If you need gas, propane or snacks you'd find at any other gas station market, they probably have it. I was there today and saw a Norm's n00b, clutching a beer in hand, smiling euphorically at the selection and muttering about how awesome it is to have found this place. You may not find what you're looking for but the staff will certainly see if they can track it down for you or you can always try something new. read more

This is a beer mecca but also a hard cider mecca. I come here for a wide variety of cider that is provided. I discovered my favorite cider here...ICEMAN. Smooth like wine. I've gotten growlers filled here with no problem. They have a huge list on tap and some specialties that sell out fast!! Wall to wall beer and wine. Huge bottle selection along with growlers. Hello, I ordered two kegs for a 7AM pickup with a month notice then I called a week ahead of time to ensure pickup. When I arrived, the person said I had to come back three hours later as she could not sell assist me with pickup of the two kegs. I had to then drive 3 hours to come back later as when I talked to Harry, the manager, he said he will make it right and offered me the 2 bags of ice valued at $24 back as compensation for the inconvenience. Norm's. Ah, Norm's. It's like a toy store or candy shop for a kid...so many choices, so many things to look at and mull over. I love going here when I'm in the mood for something out of the normal range of beers and wines (and meads, and ciders, and, and, and). If the prices of some of the 22oz bottles are steep, I really don't mind paying for them. I get it, this is a small place trying to compete against the mega-chain stores in Lake Stevens, Marysville, and Snohomish. I will pay a few extra dollars to enjoy something that I have never come across before, or is an extremely rare find. I applaud them for going out of their way to make the buying experience a unique event, with the ability to break six packs and create your own goofy set. My wife enjoys the selection of ciders they have, as she doesn't always necessarily want apple flavored ciders and has really enjoyed the cherries, peaches, pomegranites, etc that they have in stock. I'm a porter and stout type of beer swiller, so this place is a mecca if I'm looking for something barrel aged, or anniversary bottles of local micros, or something really out of the ordinary (like the peanut butter powder infused chocolate stout). Highly recommended for any beer aficionado in the area. One of these days, I'm thinking about getting a growler fill from their on tap items, but for now, staring at the shelves for minutes on end, trying to figure out where my tastebuds want to go tonight is enough for me. read more
