I have been to the body shop twice. Both times for accidents. The first one the side was munched in. They car looked wonderful when it was returned to me. The second one, I was rear ended and I was a little stressed out. Their estimate was way higher then the insurances. They took care of everything. They contacted the insurance company for me and all the details. The car was totaled. I would definitely go here again if needed. As things tend to go, My Cadillac started overheating and broke down the day before Christmas (yes, Merry Christmas Eve to me!) Every place I called was either closed, or a about to be closed, so I was relieved when Alex answered and said they were open, and could fit me in for a diagnostic right then and there. The shop was easy to find, and Alex was very friendly. The diagnosis wasn't good, (blown head gasket) but Alex and his manager Mike worked out a good solution for me that didn't require me to break the bank. I'll start with a pro: great customer service. Accommodating and friendly. Now the con: they misdiagnosed my car issue on two separate occasions that amounted to more than $1k in unnecessary replacements/charges, and the problem remained. It wasn't until my car suddenly died, and stranded me on the highway in evening traffic, that I discovered what was causing years of auto issues... a $4 part. I had previously surmised that this faulty part may have been the issue, which i had asked them to look into. But they missed it big time, and made unnecessary repairs that resulted in several hundred dollars in parts/labor. In conclusion, my auto-iliteracey prevented me from making this easy fix years ago. However, I feel like these guys should have caught it as it was cited as a potential problem from the beginning. It was obvious in retrospect. read more

So sorry I have to post a bad review. I have been taking my 3 cars here for about 8 years. I have had mostly good service until more recently. Things have started to slack with the consistency of quality service, and my last two incidents were the last straw. I took my truck in to replace the side mirror and they wanted to charge me $491. I decided to buy the mirror online and figured out how to install it myself - it took me 30 minutes with all the wrong tools. I then took my truck back in a month later to get new brakes. They replaced all of them and 2 sides of calipers - $1,100. A couple days later I was heading out on the 76 highway and the brakes started smoking badly. I had to pull off to the side of the road on the 76 and let the brakes cool. I thought they'd catch fire they were smoking so badly. I slowly made my way back. I took my truck back in and they charged me DOUBLE to fix another caliper that they said they should've fixed the first time, and it cost more this time because they had to take off the brakes again. WOW! When I pointed out this was their problem, they said they could discount the labor. Sorry to say, I'm done with North County Auto Service. read more

(Background) I have a Prius and the splash guard for the oil drainage fell off. This was not long after getting an oil change from the Toyota dealer. I took it to the Toyota dealer saying I just got my oil changed and a part came off so it must have been something they did. Right away the Toyota dealer said it wasn't their fault and they wanted $65 just to LOOK at my car. Then they told me it would cost around $425 to replace the piece. I backed away from the Toyota Dealer and gave a call to North County Auto Services. Right away I liked the guy I talked to on the phone. That same day I brought my car in. I was in and out within half an hour. Turns out the part was a little scratched, but still functional! They could have easily said I needed to pay for a new part, but they didn't! They popped the part back into place and secured it. (Actually review) I had an amazing experience working with North County Auto Services. Friendly, honest, knowledgeable, and they kept me 100 in the loop with what they were doing. They never tried to sell me unnecessary parts or services. Ive been a customer of North County Auto Service for a few years now and I continue to be impressed with the level of work and communication that I receive for both of my vehicles. I had a a dreaded Check Engine light pop up on my Chevrolet Camaro and I really needed this to be solved because I have a smog check due and I found out (perhaps Im naive) that you cant smog a car with a Check Engine light on. In any case, Rex and the team solved my problem and explained to me what the issues were and how they were resolved to my satisfaction. In my opinion, really easy guys to work with. What a great experience. These guys are as friendly as they are professional. From talking to Mike and dealing with Rex, this was very seamless and painless. Very good reasonable pricing. Lets face it. Mr cheap-o isn't gonna do the best work, might not have the right tools for the job and as i like to say.....good work isn't cheap...and cheap work isn't good. The shop is very nice, lots of bays. The office is very clean. The staff very nice and professional. They got my truck back to me the next day. It runs like a top. I would definitely reccomend using this establishment. They induce a trusting type of feeling. Im very particular about who works on my vehicles. I actually found this Auto Service center on Yelp when I wanted work done on my car without having to go to somewhere like Midas or any of the other chains. I honestly could not imagine going anywhere else. I have not even taken cost into consideration. The owners here have integrity and are extremely fair. It is true that they will not charge you for something that isn't necessary. Other companies can learn from these folks - and there is a lot to learn. When Suzuki refused to help me over the phone about a warranty issue, Sandy went out of his way to find out the problem I was having and fix it without question. Brought my truck in for brake line replacement, flush, and inspection. I told the service advisor that nobody EVER works on my truck but me, but lack of time was forcing me to bring it to someone. He assured me I was in good hands. About 3 hours later I get a phone call. He proceeds to tell me it's going to be $300 (3 hours labor) to inspect, not fix, but INSPECT rear brakes due to the free floating axle. I asked him if he needed me to come over and show the tech, Fernando, how to pull drums in about 10 minutes! He then tells me I don't know what kind of axle I have and that his computer was giving him his information!! Um, did your "certified tech" even take the rear wheel off and LOOK?! Had he done his job, he would have seen it takes about 10-15 minutes to get the wheel and drum off. I walked over and met with the SA. He shows me on his computer that it shows 4 different axles for my truck and he assumes I have the most expensive one. So, your tech doesn't look AND you pick the most expensive labor job of the 4 options and call me to get approval to spend $300 that is NOT warranted in any way? Good thing I know my truck. I feel sorry for the poor bastard who doesn't know anything and just says, "sure, go ahead". That's my review. Take your vehicle at your own risk. I went to this shop solely based on Yelp reviews. The people were very friendly, work was good and fast, however, I had asked the manager to call me and then my boyfriend to go over everything with him, as he may be able to fix it himself. Well they did call me and informed me of what was wrong. I told them to call my boyfriend, and if he said yes, then they could start working. Well my boyfriend showed up and the work was done. The manager said he was about to call him, but then lied about ever speaking to me and had already completed everything. They tried to charge me 350 for a spark plug and re threading the spark plug hole. My boyfriend could've done all of this for $10 which is why I wanted them to wait and talk to him. They ended up dropping the price to $200 but still, lying to both of us over a phone call was not right. I'll never go back due to lack of honesty and communication read more

I just picked up our Lexus. The engine was blown and we had no idea how to approach this problem. I can't say enough good things about the service Mike provided us from start to finish. He provided us all of the options available to us. He even valued the car to ensure that fixing the car made sense financially. He found us an engine, told exactly how much it would cost us out the door and even serviced our transmission since he had the engine out. The work was completed on time and on budget. They did such an amazing job on my car, at what has to be the best deal in North County. If I didn't know better, I would have thought my dad was taking care of me and making sure every detail on my car repair was right, down to calling the rental car agency and getting me a super rate for the entire time I was without my car. My wife and I were traveling from Pasadena to San Diego when we experienced an unusual sound coming from our car. Went to Yelp and found North County Auto Repair with 5 star rating, boy did we get lucky! Mike and Sandy, the owners, were extremely friendly and helpful. Sandy test drove the car, determined what the problem was, put it up on the rack and personally fixed issue in no time. We were fortunate that problem was minor in nature, but can't say enough for these two who were so gracious and accommodating to us. They made what could have been a very negative experience positive and having us feel fortunate that we brought our car to them. I had a positive experience with North County Auto Service start to finish. I like how clear the communication was on what was going to be done and how much it would cost. When I got the car back the problems were fixed. I know that they could have recommended a new timing belt ($$). Instead they suggested a conservative approach with a detergent/conditioner in the oil to clean up a oil valve that maintains oil pressure to the timing belt (less expensive). They have earned my trust, and my future business. I suggest you take your car to North County Auto Service and see for yourself. read more

I had my check engine light come on after having some issues with an oil leak a few months back. I was worried I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars AGAIN like I did for the initial repairs, so I decided to take my car here. The staff at North County Auto Service is super friendly and helpful! You know they've got some great customer service when you already feel like a regular after your first visit. They told me my car was actually in very good condition and that the check engine light was just a small technical thing. I've never had a auto service business tell me that there really wasn't anything wrong with my car. They could've spun something else on me and charge me so much more, but they didn't. Also, I took in my car on tuesday midday and told them I wouldn't be able to pick it up til thursday. Since I gave that time frame, I was sure they wouldn't look at it til wednesday. Rex called me first thing in the morning on wednesday that my car was fully checked and ready to be picked up. On top of that, Rex leaves really understandable notes on the invoice detailing everything that was done to the car. This place surprised me in so many ways.
