The heater worked really well which was a major plus in the middle of a very cold winter. The location was easy to find, and if we'd wanted to we could easily have walked into e heart of Wangaratta to dine or to visit a pub. Parking was available directly outside the room and I felt fine leaving my car there. The room was spacious, clean and had an awesome view overlooking the park. Hence the name. The beds were super comfy with plenty of pillows to choose from. The telly was easy to use (sometimes you need to read the instructions to get them going) and most importantly I felt really safe in the room. There was a safety door chain with a sign urging us to use it for our safety. We pre booked which was easy and check out was quick and easy too. The only negative was that there was a bit of noise after 10.30pm from guests upstairs. Not too bad though. The motor in provided a number of extra touches such as sweet biscuits which we had for breakfast, a pa met of coffee for the plunger and a corkscrew. (It is the wine region after all.) We switched to Quality Hotel Wangaratta Gateway and I love the helpful staff and efficiency of doing business with them. This year, due to an injury on my part, the staff picked-up and did all the distribution of luggage for all of my clients. When was got to the rooms there was a lovely pool centre stage with the rooms surrounding it. Our room was clean, beds comfortable and ample room for my wife and two children. Well, as a pub, this place was quite nice. Sure, like a lot of country pubs that I have visited, there isn't a huge selection of beers on tap, but that is to be expected. The staff were quite friendly though, and another thing that caught my attention was the nice outdoor area out the front, which gives some good views of the town.

Actually, I could probably talk quite a lot about Ned Kelly, but I won't because this is a review of the railway station, which is closed. However, it is still a part of the open air museum that happens to the be town, namely because it was quite important in Ned Kelly's capture.

Sure, while platform 2 isn't strictly underground, it certainly does feel like it, and it was the…read moreplatform that the Intercity service between Sydney and Melbourne used to use, that is until they converted the other track to standard gauge, which is now used. However, this station is still pretty cool, but then again a lot of these major regional stations are pretty cool, namely because the buildings date back to the early railway period. Oh, and there will also be buses waiting for you when you step off the train to basically take you to destinations that are further afield.
