As a shopper, i was shocked at the size of it. When I first arrived and looked around, there had to be 50+ vendors around this gymnasium.. Just when I thought I saw it all, I found out there were three large rooms with MORE vendors. So if you go, keep wandering. There is definately more than simply that one big area. This is definately more of a flea market with plenty of bric a brac, as opposed to an artizan market such as the Calgary Farmer's Market, so be prepared for an indoor garage sale-type scenario. I got some fantastic deals on CDs and second hand books, so I was quite a happy little shopper. I also bought a pair of gorgeous earrings for $2. Seriously! There was one kiosk in there that made falafels that was delicous. :) I don't know if this lady is there every week, but she was worth every penny. As a vendor, the price was definately right. A table is $25. However, admittedly it is tough to get space there, since it is so busy. I was lucky enough to secure two tables for $50, so I actually had some room to display some clothing I was selling to raise money for the Giver for Liver Marathon. www.giverforliver.ca. Since the crowd was such bargain hunters, I didn't have much choice but to price my wares accordingly, therefore, making it difficult to do exceedingly well profit-wise. I know for certain there are many vendors that do very well there, but for me, with second hand clothing, it was a challenge. An item I would sell on kijiji for $10, I had to sell for $5, and more often than not, I would get haggled to $2. The vendor across from me dropped his prices all day and gave away all of his product for free in the last hour, which made it extremely hard for me to compete with free. I did exhibit in January where customer traffic was slower, so I may give this another kick at the can in the spring and update my review. However, my experience with the post-Christmas traffic was not a lot of profit for a nine hour day. I tried for two weekends. The first weekend, I didn't make my table (sold $40 worth of items, and the two tables were $50). The second week, I walked away with $55, so I had a much better sales day, but when I divide $55 by 9 hours, the charity only made $6.11 per hour. Much less than minimum wage. However, I spoke to many vendors around me, and many of them have been exhibiting there for years and have been profitable, selling antiquey-type housewares or books. So, it may simply be my product line (which was second hand clothing) or possibly my display, or other factors directly related to me. However, dealing with the community center was an absolute pleasure. Bonnie was extremely helpful and all the vendors I interacted with were a pleasure to deal with.

Parking is ample, and during the evenings and weekends, is free if you have to to park on the street.

When I pulled up and saw the circular hall, it all became clear! Spacious and well-kept, the hall is in good shape and looks to be home to a hub of different activities, like the Rhythm Cafe-live drumming and music the last Friday of every month. I like the circular setup of this hall better than your typical rectangular halls. It made for a good view of the stage from almost any angle. Acoustics for the show were clear, although I'm not sure if the hall came with a sound system or not. At any rate, it's a nice little spot for community events down in Inglewood.

The facility has been recently painted with contemporary colors and looks fresh and bright. They have five large windows that look over a beautiful patio area with a large gazebo, as well as a beautiful view of COP and the mountains. We had our daughter's wedding there this past weekend (August 2nd), and held the ceremony on the patio. It was perfect and the setting is breathtaking. The staff are absolutely amazing and very accommodating. There are round tables and chairs that seat 200 included with rental of the facility. The kitchen is large and can accommodate professional catering. We rented the hall for both Friday evening and all day Saturday and it was very reasonable. Check this place out and visualize all the possibilities you can for your wedding here. BTW, I've also used this facility for a children's Christmas party for a non profit organization and had the same wonderful experience!

When I got there, I was a little bit confused by the architecture of the building and wasn't sure where I was supposed to go in. Finally, I made my way inside to what I believe to be the main floor. There wasn't a ton of space in here, but more than enough room to highlight some great vendors. I browsed some jams, rad terrariums, artwork, etc. I made my way upstairs, but again, the size of the building didn't allow for much capacity and I ended up feeling too close to strangers and left. Even though I once lived in Bridgeland, this is the first time I have visited this centre. Large enough to have tables in the main area, and a dancing area in the other half. A useful-looking kitchen (oven, stovetop, refrigerator, lots of counter space) with a serving window to where the two halves meet. This was actually the first time they did something about keeping the "uncouth" Harvest Hills and Coventry Hills folks off our community property. So for all their "savings" from keeping the heathens off our private property they were generous enough to hand out one free tiny hamburger per person this year after being closed for 2 years due to Covid. We in panorama deserve better than this BS! My question is: ".. I can't possibly be the only Panorama hills sucker to gratefully pay that $262.50 per year for nothing, basically!"

There are also a variety of fitness and children's programs offered at reasonable rates in the center. Fees also go to the upkeep of the community which I'm not sure everyone who pays them realizes. The association plans all the flowers and looks after maintenance of the landscaping, watering etc. For the area covered by the fees. It's well maintained, but due to the age of the building the look of things is a little dated. It has a full kitchen, though you may find a few things missing so best to check ahead of time what you may need to bring on your own. I'm not sure what the legal capacity is, but the hall can easily hold 150 people for a sit down dinner. There's also a dance floor area in the centre of the room. In one corner there's a projector mounted to the ceiling with a pull down screen, so no need to rent your own.

I call it a community hall because calling it the Varsity community building just doesn't have the same feel to it. If you're from a small town, the hall itself isn't so much what you'd expect. See, where I grew up, the community hall was a one room deal with a stage at the end. This one's got a multitude of rooms in different shapes and sizes that are used for a variety of different things (dance classes, Girl Guides and even a playschool). The hall is great (and cheap) for small group kind of rentals. Unlike your small town hall (big hall for the small town rather than the other way around), I don't think you'll want to be catering any big weddings here. But with a playground right outside, some field space, and easy accessibility just off Shaganappi Trail, you've got a solid venue for your event(s).
