Michael Evis is to be congratulated for sticking to his guns with Jay Z, who whilst wasn't my cup'o'tea, seemed to impress most people. To fully appreciate the magnitude of Glastonbury, you have to climb to the highest points and it is only then that you will start to understand the effort that must go into getting the festival on. Hundreds of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars and THE CIDER BUS! make turning up on Wednesday morning adviseable, as there really is so much to do and see. I could ramble on about the great dance acts, the trash city and all the other brilliant things in Glastonbury 2008, but instead, all I will say is the minute tickets go on sale next year, get registering, because even though the 2008 Glastonbury only just sold out, 2009 will sell out in Minutes.

And yes, it can get wildly muddy; yes, the toilets will make you die a little inside; yes, you can find/be/do anything you desire there if you try hard enough. If you're questioning wanting to go to Glastonbury, please stop and just go. It's so different to every other festival, big or small, and so incredible. Please don't miss the sauna in the tipi village, the hidden bars and clubs scattered throughout the festival grounds, and in particular, the Shangri La area is life changing. Spend a few evenings there (particularly when the crowds aren't about) and you'll see!

And also the supposedly burial site of King Arthur, but that is up to your own imagination. But still it's extraordinarily picturesque and incredible site to imagine what it once was in its hey days. There are acres and acres to explore, lots of greenery, lots of ruins, lots of exhibits, and a couple ponds. A few locals hanging out, and a few hippies. Adults: £12 / $16...seems about right.

The staff were rigid, robotic, and completely lacking in empathy. The Abbey has sadly lost its soul -- it's now run like a military checkpoint. This rigid, petty approach is deeply disappointing. The Abbey used to feel spiritual and welcoming -- now it's cold and unkind to the very people who support it.

Burnham on Sea hold an annual fireworks display on the sea front next to Somerfields. It takes…read moreplace on the Sunday closest to the Carnival which is usually the closest weekend to Guy Faulks night and starts at 7pm. They put on a great display! It lasts for around 20 minutes and is accompanied by music. The fireworks are huge and they let quite a few off at one time working up to a massive finalle which normally results in all the car alarms going off in the area because of the massive bang! This year it was also rememberance Sunday so they had fireworks in the shapes of red poppies at the end. Well worth a visit but come early as it gets really hard to park before the fireworks start.

Tickets cost £40 for adults, and children are £1. Get them quick as it does sell out. This is a family festival, and my friends kids absolutely loved it, and why wouldn't they...... face painting, and arts and crafts...and even a bouncy castle for them...and best of all this was all free. The site itself was clean and had plenty of space for the tents and to sit outside, but then we are talking about around 1500 people. And there was plenty of entertainment for adults and party goers too...from the 5 stages - with acoustic sounds from the Otters Pocket, chill out at the Lotus Flower,or hit the brilliant Dub tent which had some great Reggae, and Drum n Bass blasting out. When the sound systems shut down at midnight, you then get a chance to head to silent disco...where you can party til 3.30am...and potentially back to the lotus flower after that if you're hoping to catch the sunrise. The vibe was fun and friendly...and they have big ideas for the future so this is definitely one to watch. My only criticism would be that there were too many covers bands...but then this is a learning curve...and I have no doubt this will change in future years. A brilliant little festival, and well worth checking out.

I believe if I lived in the area, Cheddar Gorge would be a place I was well familiar with - I've…read moreonly had the chance to drive through it (so far), and was envious of the people specifically hiking, climbing, and exploring on their own terms. What an absolutely stunning natural wonder. The limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills is three miles, and has a max depth of nearly 400+ feet; formed over the last 1.2 million years by floods during the ice ages, it's home to caves (heads-up: the two largest have been turned into tourist attractions you have to pay to enter), Britain's oldest skeleton, and - y'know - cheese. Besides the fascinating history, the breathtaking glory of the geological formation (those sheer cliffs are impressive, and at times otherworldly when they block out the sun), and the interesting flora (like the abundance of herbs that grow naturally here, and the famous ground based flower "Cheddar pink") ... there are sheep. The ancient, chocolate colored Soay Sheep that wander the hills and steep edges of the gorge - eating vegetarian, doing their magnificent sheep thing, sometimes walking in a geometrically perfect line - that I'm completely, entirely smitten with. A very, very cool place indeed.

The Bishop's Palace is a MUST SEE! This beautiful historic palace has been the residence of the…read moreBishops of Bath and Wells for over 800 years since construction began in 1210. The palace has evolved through the centuries with incredible additions especially the defensive walls, and surrounding moat, and gate house, creating an almost magical Disney-Grimm's Fairy tale and magical castle story book setting. The state rooms and commons are fun and amusing to wander, as they are a bit more modern and humble. I'm not normally a garden guy, but the palace gardens are 14-acre gardens tranquil retreat featuring numerous varieties of flowers, and include a reflecting pond and ancient wells. £20 for a combination ticket to the Bishops Palace and also Wells Cathedral, well worth it. But if you're short on time and/or money, you can at least see the other moat and some of the inner walls for free.

Wookey Hole Caves are a series of limestone caverns, a show cave and tourist attraction in the…read morevillage of Wookey Hole on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills near Wells in Somerset, England. The River Axe flows through the cave. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for both biological and geological reasons. We did a tour and went inside the caves where you have to wear a hat for your own protection. The caves have walkways and steps and everywhere is illuminated with pretty lights. Interesting to see actual cheddar cheese being stored on the caves here. It.made for a very interesting day out.

There is plenty of parking, and toilets in the parking lot which are super clean and well looked after. I can't say anything more about the price - it is expensive but it's there in writing before you go and you can make your decision. You can also get 15% off by booking online which we did. Boo was free because she was under 2. We were second family in in the morning (if you aren't 1/2 hr early you are late in my eyes!) and so knowing there wouldn't be a queue we went straight up to the caves and in for the first tour. If we were in late we probably would have gone in the back and up to the caves later. Boo's eyes almost fell out when we went in the caves, she couldn't stop looking everywhere. The tour was not long but very informative, they have added new chambers since we went 10 years ago, but I did not think the new chambers were that exciting (although boo did like us wearing hard hats) After the tour you pop out at the top and can wander down through a fairy village (not too much to see), dinosaurs (Boo's fave) and then enter into the play area. The play area for older kids looked amazing and Brendon and I both wanted to go on it and wished we could have! The play area for boo was more normal but she enjoyed it. She also put a penny and a pound in to receive a squashed penny. She absolutely loved the mirror maze - she finally found something she loves more than anything else in the world - herself! The penny arcade is getting a bit dated (I don't mean they are old - they are meant to be - but that they don't seem to be looked after) and we lost some money in machines that just didn't work. The gift shop was nicely laid out but it was hard to find things with Wookey hole on them, and not just random stuff. All in all, a great day if you make the most out of it :D
