Next, Whispering Oaks is one of the cleanest, well maintained campgrounds, and very reasonably priced. I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at many. We stayed in one of their little log cabins, which was an adorable log cabin, rustic style. No bathroom or water in the cabin, but the bath house was very close by. The cabin had power, small fridge, microwave, cable tv, heat, a/c, double bed, and twin bunk beds. Linens, towels furnished, but I always recommend bringing your own pillows. It was clean, quiet and cozy. Perfect for families. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you plan on partying. It was really quiet by 10pm. Highly recommend if your in the Baldwin/M37 area.

Rain scared away three sites so we were one of two groups left, and we couldn't hear a word of the other group down the way. Site 11 is even a pull-through! All sites have a great tree canopy, fire pits, lantern hooks, and picnic tables. There's a pit toilet outside the Angler Trail and a boat launch off the Pete Marquette River, but nothing else. No water taps, firewood, or other amenities are here, but the quiet makes it all worth it. Being free, no one is here to clean up after the Taco Bell/Fireball/ash tray/BB affair of your site's prior occupants, so bring a garbage bag. Then, take it with you!!! If not Fireball caps, you might be the lucky to find the campsite whose prior occupants left a good stash of firewood, a rake, even a wreath, something I've never seen at a campsite. A hummingbird flew through our site, and woodpeckers were seen and heard throughout our stay. Mosquitos are here so bring your bug spray or coils. Michigan DNR says this is also bear country, so don't leave out food or garbage. Take care of your site so Sulak Campground will stay free, and enjoy the woods, song birds, fireflies, wildflowers, the lot.

Sitting at my desk on a Friday, watching the rain hit my window... I thought, "I'm not spending my…read moreweekend here..." My thought processes was where can I go within driving distance with Bentley(my fur-baby), hike and take in beautiful sunsets on the beach.... After a short search Michigan and Highway 31 Cabins checked ALL the boxes! The airbnb hosts Charlie and Andra were great! They responded within minutes to my messages, gave detailed/easy to understand directions to their location and instructions on how to enter the cabin along with where to park(all very much appreciated!)... the area is super cute, half circle of cabins, complete with a fire pit. Once inside everything looked up just as pictured on their Airbnb site; no surprises. My favorite part was the information binder with "insider/local" tips, love exploring the hidden gems to local areas. Lots of amazing sites to see within a reasonable distance. Pictured below are a few of the places I explored during my stay. I'm not telling you where I went... you'll need to book Highway 31 Cabins for the inside scoop. They put a lot of effort in on mapping out locations(all in the information binder); I'm not just going to give it away... ;) The entire process from booking, checking in and out was seamless; overall a great experience!

Being in rural Michigan, this is a great place to camp. The campground was not all that big, which…read moreisn't necessarily a bad thing because you're so close to the small playground, bathrooms/showers (very clean), pool (they said it was heated, but it wasn't really when we went), and the lake. It's not the biggest lake, but definitely serves the purpose of kayaking or canoeing (in a small area) and paddle boats. It was $4 for an hour of paddle boating and not much more for kayaks or canoes. There technically is a "beach," but it's basically a small stretch of sand that serves as canoe/kayak/paddle boats storage. There was a fish cleaning station, so I'm guessing it's good for fishing? It was so convenient that they have propane fill up onsite in addition to being able to buy ice and wood. It's great that they don't overcharge the captive audience, we really do appreciate that. The spots were roomy enough, but certainly could've used another foot or two. Our friends rented the spot next to us and it was a perfect set up. The grounds were clean, the bathrooms/showers were clean, the playground was clean. I think one of the very few things it needs improvement on is the identification of the water/electric stations. It's not that big of a deal, but the camper that arrived before us was using the station that should've belonged to us. Thank goodness our friend had an extension hose and extension cord, otherwise we would've had a hard time reaching the water and electric. Our friends and I had spot 60 and 61. 61 is a corner spot. Even though we were right next to the corner, I never felt like there was too much foot traffic from people walking by. Overall, given the location, it was a great campground and I would go back again.

The pool is very refreshing especially on a hot summer day. They have individual bathrooms and showers which are kept clean. There is a great walking trail across the street. Atv trails are close by so there is something for everyone.

Very nice place! Came on memorial day weekend with family. Staff was very friendly and seems to…read moreactually care a lot about the place and our enjoyment, and they are mindful of future improvement. Campsites were very clean and well laid out. Public washhouse was also very clean. Nice hot water showers! Even has a little kitchenette and laundry facility. Got kids? Place is awesome for that too. Big playground, organized activities (for adults too), and slow speed limits to maximize safety. Oh, they have a fenced in mini dog park too for your more furry "children". It was a little noisy in the afternoon and evening with kids playing sports games together, some dogs barking, and people being themselves around the campfire. But once the official quiet hours hit, it was nearly silent. And, they have staff that doubles as security to enforce the quiet hours. Overall, nice place. We'll definitely consider coming back, especially if they upgrade more RV campsites to full hookup (most have electric, some have water, few have sewer), which is in their future plans!
