I love that it is smaller than other centers and has a more close-knit feel. The new playground for toddlers & 2's is lovely with a shaded cover and no mulch. There was a lot of staff turnover the past 1-2 years, but they are now in a good groove and all seem to work well as a team.

Speaking of food... sometimes I look at the kids' menus for the week and wish that they could cater my meals, too! By comparison to other local saycares, the price to attend here is pretty steep, but you are getting a lot for your money. That includes peace of mind, which to me, is priceless.

Each billing period has something wrong with it. We have been charged over $800 in bogus fees. We gave them proof and they say it's fixed. Yet the next bill shows no changes. The front desk people are horrible. They can't do their job. The manager is never their to answer questions. They have an after school program but no bus for the children. My daughter got excepted to public pre-school but the daycare won't accept her to the after school program because she is four. They want to charge her as a full-time student. They have eliminated many programs that we pay for event though they have raised the rates. She has suffered a broken leg and a concussion since attending. DSS investigated but found no neglected. I gave them two stars because the teacher that work with the children are actually very good and teach them a lot. She is learning to count, read and speak Spanish. However, I do not recommend this school. It is a corrupt business and they don't care about the children.

Their primary teacher, Miss Katie, has been so loving, and cares about our boys in the most genuine way. They have come so far with her and Miss JaVonne, and we feel so lucky that our boys are in her class. The school director, Molly, has a background in speech therapy, which is so evident in how she has been supporting our children's development. The have an interesting curriculum, building is clean and organized, office staff is alway on top of all paperwork and there is field trip every week (during summer camp). My son made friends and he actually is sad that summer camp is over, who could believe I am writing this now?... his fears are GONE and he's so ready to start school next week. Pam, the director, clearly cares deeply about the kids and makes every family feel welcome from day one. The teachers we've worked with have all been excellent: very professional, communicative, and organized, but they still keep things fun and playful for the kids. We came from another daycare in the area and can say with confidence that La Petite is a massive upgrade. In just a few weeks, we've seen marked improvements in our son's behavior and how he interacts with other kids. There is a strong emphasis on the classroom as a community, and it really shows--children seem to learn how to play well together, take turns, and be considerate classmates. The structure and expectations in the classroom feel age-appropriate but still set them up for success. I can very easily see our son being more than ready for kindergarten in a couple of years. They keep the kids busy in the best way -- every day our son is learning something new, with lots of hands-on activities and exploration. The app is also fantastic; we get tons of updates and photos throughout the day so we always feel connected to what he's doing. My only (very minor) gripe is the parking lot -- it's a bit small and can get chaotic during peak drop-off and pickup times. But honestly, that's a small trade-off for the level of care and education our son is getting. Overall, we're extremely happy we made the switch and highly recommend La Petite of Glen Allen to other families.
