The staff are always friendly and helpful and the food is a very good standard, far better than most chinese takeaways I've been to but I think that's due to it being a restaurant too which pushes the standard higher. This is a popular place on a weekend so if you're eating in it's probably a good idea to book a table, if you can't get booked in then just order a takeaway. The only downside is they don't do delivery as they are very busy so you have to get it yourself.

The restaurant is masked from this area by a lacquered screen depicting birds, flowers and the countryside. The restaurant itself is fairly large with a good variety of tables to suit any sized party, round tables near the window. The décor is dominated on the wallpaper and pelmets by Chinese Dragons and framed small ornately designed teapots dotted around the walls. The menu is vast for both drinks and particularly the food, with a variety of set meals for two, three, four or five persons. What is staggering though is the price, on average about £10 for a main course, with some much more. The set meals represented good value for money though, but we didn't fancy the combination of dishes. We ordered three dishes and a portion of rice. For the money the food needed to an excellent and we weren't disappointed, it was exquisite - beautifully presented, perfectly cooked and very tasty. The mixed vegetables and straw mushrooms were cooked to perfection. A brilliant meal, but the prices may prevent us being regular visitors, which is a shame, food is rarely cooked this well!

When we go anywhere new we normally try the set menu to get a good idea of the food in the place and then if it's good we come back and try different dishes the next time.. also we tend to gauge a good Chinese restaurant on the hot and sour soup.. this was a good one. We had a mixed platter for the second course (ribs, prawn toast, spring roll and a kinda curry samosa) they all tasted wonderful. Then for the main course we got steak in a fruit sauce, beef in chilli sauce and king prawn massaman curry.. which again was great.. they are big portion sizes too so we didn't get chance to sample a desert. The service was excellent too.. we got a young woman as our waitress and she was delightful.. she engaged with us, was funny and attentive to our needs.. also we weren't rushed in anyway either.. they were quite happy for us to chat away at our hearts content even though it was getting close to their closing time. The only thing i would say is it would be great if they would do free delivery if you order over a certain ammount but there it a standered delivery charge no matter what you order but its worth it for the great prices and great food.. also every now and then i get a free fortune cookie.. How nice is that! :) and as i order from hear quite a bit.. it would be so nice if i got free fortune cookie each time i ordered from hear :) i chinese xx

And who could really argue with the fact you get free prawn crackers and a fortune cookie and mints at the end?! Not me!! The staff are also really friendly and really helpful.
